Broadway Fast French Deceptions Falsies

I am borderline obsessed with oval nails these days. I absolutely love how the shape looks on women. Very feminine and sexy. Now every time I try to shape my nails into a more round or pointed shape, I end up scrutinizing every nanometer of the shape and end up hating it. I don't think they are pretty close up in photos, well the kind of photos I post, so it would be pretty dumb to do that shape permanently.

I have pretty much never seen oval or pointed tips in the glue-on falsies kits in the drugstore, so when I saw these Broadway Fast French Deceptions in K-Mart the other day I squee'd and snatched them up.

They were a little longer than I was comfortable with so I ended up taking them off after a day. SMH. I wanted to be ambitious and keep them on as long as possible but I decided it was a futile effort. Oh well, I liked them for the time I wore them. These were about $9 for 24 nails and nail glue, although I prefer to use the sticky grip pads instead as they cause less damage.

FingerPaints Gumdrops & Lollipops Collection

Hidey ho everyone :) Today I have to show you the newest collection from FingerPaints, the nail polish brand exclusive to Sally Beauty Supply. The group is called Gumdrops & Lollipops, which instantly brings images of my childhood and playing Candy Land to my mind haha. I like the pastel shades intermingling with brights idea, very Spring.

First up is Blue Raspberry Taffy. It's a bright blue cream, along the lines of the Airhead candy. Opaque and almost chalky, in that mod realm. This is three coats because the formula is not fab. It's rather streaky and thick, actually all of these are. I do like this color and would wear it again.

Here is Lemon Sour, a pale canary yellow cream. Another formula I'm not happy with, thick and streaky.  This is three coats.

Next is Pop Rock Pink. I love this polish, even though it is thick as a mofo. Jelly bright poppy pink with micro glass flecks. Very pretty in real life, hard to translate in a photo. Three coats again, just to build it up since it's a jelly. Key is to apply thin coats and wait for them to dry in between so you don't end up with a mess.

Here is Choco Mint, a delicious shade and a yummy ice cream flavor! This actually turned out to be more blue than I expected, but it still qualifies as mint green. I have a million of this color, and I definitely have some that apply better. Three coats here as well, because of streaks.

Next is Grape Gumball. I don't think of this as a grape, more of a blurple. I like the glass flecks in this and it was the nicest formula in the bunch. Two coats.

Last is Circus Peanuts. When I unpacked these guys, I thought this one was a gonner, as I saw melon color all over the box and other polishes. Fortunately it hadn't broken, just leaked because the lid wasn't on tight. *phew* I hate the candy circus peanuts, they're disgusting and just blech. Fortunately I do like this color, it's just that these pale orange creams don't look great on me. Idk why but that's the way it is. This is two coats.

Overall I like the idea of this collection but not the execution. FingerPaints sell for $4.99 each at Sally Beauty Supply stores and on www.sallybeauty.com.

Dita Von Teese Nails by Kiss

I am super into old Hollywood glamour. 30's and 40's retro style is totally my thing. I adore Dita Von Teese, the international burlesque star who brought the style mainstream. She is truly a style icon. Her look has long been coveted and copied by women everywhere.

I have long been interested in her nail style, she wears them long with a tapered oval shape, in a deep red shade with a silver half moon, just like the famous starlets of years gone by. Attainable with lots of time and patience yes, but now thanks to a collaboration with Kiss Nails, this style has become a whole lot easier to achieve.

I got the opportunity to try these out and I absolutely adore them! They're just long enough to be luxurious but not so long as to be troublesome. I personally love the nail shape more than anything, because I can't grow my natural nails out like this, it's nice to be able to fake it.

These gorgeous press-on nails are available now on Dita's website, www.DitasDomain.com (although they are temporarily sold out) for $9.99. The nails come in 12 sizes in a package of 24. They are a must-have for any Dita fan!

Simple Circle Jewelry

Hey folks! Hope your three day weekend (for us Americanos) has rounded out well and you're nice and relaxed. I know I am haha. I've been getting over a cold for weeks now and I'm happy to see it's finally on the outs.

I come from a pretty talented family. My mother is an amazing artist, she paints unbelievable landscapes and wildlife. My dad is a really great photographer and golfer. My brother can fix anything on wheels. My middle sister is a creative writer. I guess I'm pretty fair at a few things. My oldest sister has always joked saying she got the short end of the stick when it came to talent, a jack of all trades and a master of none, lol. I of course disagree with that anyway, but she has recently found a special talent. She has started making handmade jewelry!

Her reasoning being that she can never find any jewelry she really loves, so why not make her own! Clarrisa is her name, she's my best friend in the world and I definitely want to support her in any way I can. She has started a small shop on Etsy to sell her creations, calling it "Simple Circle Jewelry". Please take a look at her shop when you have a minute.

Be back soon with more nail polish swatches, I have a bunch of pretties to show you!

My Valentine's Nails

Hey folks, hope your Valentine's day was sweet and full of sugar and luuuuuvvv. I'm not big into the holiday, never have been much of a romantic. Plus I'm single haha :P Thought I'd make it a fantastical nail day anyway and I wore this set of falsies from Icing. They remind me of Ke$ha or Gaga. Really impractical and gaudy. I loved them instantly.

These were fun but I had a hard time fitting my nails perfectly as there were only 10 nails total and um I have 10 fingers and guess what not every person's nails are the same size. So that was a little lame, filing almost everyone of the nails. I doubt I'd buy another set from Icing like this, even though they were fun. I wasn't too concerned about showing accurate color like I am most of my swatch photos, so I put some vignette on the edges. Sickening, no?

Zoya Fleck Effect Collection

Hey folks! I'm going to stop apologizing for not writing often enough, I'm sure you're sick of hearing excuses. Honestly, I love blogging and I have a crazy life right now so I'm gonna do what I can do.

Zoya put out a mini collection along with their Spring True collection, a trio of flakie top coats! Exciting that so many brands are hopping on the flake trend eh?
Zoya.com
First up is Maisie, a sheer base with a candy blue tint and iridescent mylar flakes that shift from green to blue. I layered two coats over Zoya Skylar from the True collection.
Below is a photo taken indoors under lamp light for another perspective of the effect.

Next is Chloe who's base is a blush pink and is packed with duochrome flakes that pop in orange, blue, and green. This gal is my fave of the three. I painted two coats over Zoya Tru.

And last is Opal, a green tinted sheer with blue and green shiny flakes. This swatch is two coats over Zoya Bevin P.S. The name Opal reminds me of a 90's move with a young Gaby Hoffmann called This Is My Life. I don't care for it.
Hope you enjoyed these swatches, catch ya later sweeties!
