borghese swatches

here are some more borghese polishes! i won't bore you again with a long commentary, please see my toscano spice post to read what i think about the brand/bottle/brush :)

borghese red is an AWESOME candy apple red color that is SUPER opaque.  this is one coat people!
biscotto beige is an awesome "band aid but better" color and gives me amazing mannequin hands, which was very trendy a while ago.  it's not my favorite look on me, but i like the color a lot.
plumaggio purple is a pretty trendy color too, reminiscent of a few royal purples i've seen before.  this one leans more towards the blue end though (a little less blue than the picture, but we all know how hard purples are to photograph!) i love the shimmer in this guy!
milano taupe looks super duper pretty in the bottle but let me down a bit when i had it on.  sort of a lilac pinky taupe.  it's a bit sheer so i should've done three coats, but oh wells. still great formula, it spreads so easily and feels thin but not watery which is great.
mezzanotte blue is a dark vampy jelly creme, the hybrid of a jelly and a creme in case you didn't catch that ;)  it's noticeably navy in the bottle but on the nail it translates way dark, almost black which i didn't care for--i wanted the same pretty blue as i saw in the bottle! two coats on this, which is good for a jelly:)
and last, san remo bronze.  this is very frosty and i usually HATE polishes like that, but this one the finish actually works for not against itself.  i think it's the warm pink shade and the shimmer that make the brushstrokes look cool almost.  they still are a brat to apply tho ;)  this polish reminds me of the base color of opi's cozu-melted in the sun.  two coats.
see anything you like friends? i can't wait to see the borghese holiday glitters show up in my local rite aid store.  i hear they're fab!

borghese toscano spice

borghese is a brand i've shown only twice on my blog, i believe. i believe you can buy them at almost any rite aid, cvs store, ulta, and walgreens. (for US readers, not sure about overseas) and i know you can buy online from ulta for sure. it's not a brand many people have heard of and i'm not sure why. i didn't know they existed honestly until i started blogging, and started looking in every nook and cranny in any store i went in for nail polish haha!

they are higher priced for a drugstore polish, at around $8, but as we know, if the color is worth it, we will usually find a way to justify a purchase am i right? the core color line is not exciting, to say it gently. their limited edition seasonal collections are really where it's at. their "fashionista" collection included the fab duochrome stellare notte and almondine that i've shown here before, and their recent "tutti gelati" collection was full of bright and very pigmented spring colors.  i've caught a glimpse of their new holiday glitter polishes and they look way exciting.

i do have to reiterate that i really, really do not care for their brush handles at all; tacky and uncomfortable and just outdated. but the bottle shape itself is not bad, idk it's weird for me on the packaging aspect. the brush head continues to impress me, i especially appreciate that the edges are rounded off without being wonky--which makes manipulating the polish on the brush very easy.

i was recently able to test and review a few of their polishes and would like to share them with you all, naturally :) this shade is called toscano spice, one that i probably never would have chosen for myself, but i'm totes down to try anything once of course. when i had it on, i decided that i liked it well enough. it is a peachy almost orangey pink color that borders on the edge of frosty-ness, but just dodges that bullet and comes out nice and shimmery.

the formula on all of the polishes i've tried from borghese have been excellent, which may just convince me that their $8 price is justified in a drugstore setting.  more colors from this brand coming up!

borghese almondine

today i wish i was showing you some more models own polishes, but alas i have not had time.  i had a mad swatching session yesterday after work and before class trying to get as many of the new color club "untamed luxury" polishes done as i could, but the stress and fumes of a crappy drugstore remover got to me so i ended up in bed way early with a terrible headache.  so i didn't get to edit any of my models own swatches for you or my twilight ones.  buuuut, luckily i had these ones stashed away already prepared for such an occasion!

borghese almondine is an awesome color.  at first glance, you might be like "whuuu?  it's a boring nude!"  but honestly, it's not.  it has a band-aid but better color base yes, but it has a hidden PINK flash!  and it has tiny tiny flecks (i wouldn't call them glitter exactly) of black throughout the base color.  i wish i had gotten a sun photo to show the pink flash better, but you can still slightly see it in the flash photos.  i seriously love this polish, it's kind of a more than meets the eye kind of thing.  so don't always judge a book by it's cover haha ;)  i love these bottles, although the cap design isn't my favorite, the bottle is very chic and elegant looking to me.  i also really enjoy the two-headed brush.

do you have any borghese polishes? i have a bunch more to show you very soon so if you aren't familiar with the brand, you will get to see more of it :)  have a great Friday!

borghese stellare notte

i don't have too many borghese, i find them a touch expensivo for my taste when it comes to drugstore polish ($8) but i just could not pass up this color! i hear it's a pretty close dupe to the UK Danish brand Gosh's purple heart. stellare notte is a gorgeous, slightly metallic, dark grey with a plummy purple and teal duochrome and there's a hint of dark blue shade (?) in there too. it's actually everything that i wish zoya's ki was.

i had to take a billion pictures, this polish is such a chameleon!  the borghese brush intrigues me, as it has two actual "brush heads" but i'm not sure if this makes application easier or more difficult. i actually thought of this back in the day when i was a nail polish noob, hmm if only i had two brushes going down each side of my nail at once, and voila one swipe! but yeah, guess borghese already thought of that haha. the brush handle is a bit awkward but i like the bottle shape. if this company comes out with more colors that are a sexy as this one, i might be more inclined to buy some more :) despite the off-putting price and rite-aid location (i swear i'm not a snob haha).
