China Glaze Spring 2016 House of Colour Collection Swatches & Review

Hello my friends! Happy Friday to you! I have the new China Glaze collection for Spring 2016 to show you today called House of Colour. This set of twelve shades is inspired by the eclectic tones of the 1970's. There's some great polishes for the approaching warmer season, I hope you like them as much as I do!

China Glaze Sorry I'm Latte is a nude crème. Leans very neutral on me, which I love. This covered way better than I expected, it was thick but really easy to apply and I had no issues with streaking. This is two coats.
China Glaze Sorry I'm Latte

China Glaze In The Near Fuchsia is a lush fuchsia jelly crème. More squishy than a straight crème but with great coverage. A little thicker, but not difficult to use. Two coats, very shiny!
China Glaze In The Near Fuchsia

China Glaze Let's Chalk About It is a very pale, almost white, pink crème. This applied SO much better than I was expecting it to, these types of colors are usually hard to manipulate. Quite a thick formula, a little more than the others, but easy to apply. Two coats here.
China Glaze Let's Chalk About It

China Glaze About Layin' Out is a salmony coral pink jelly crème. This had the same as consistency as In The Near Fuchsia, maybe a tad less opaque. Still, I achieved complete coverage in just two coats. This is 100% my type of shade, I love it!
China Glaze About Layin' Out

China Glaze Girls Just Wanna Have Sun is a pale yellow crème. This had a very similar formula to Let's Chalk About It, but I used three coats for full coverage. Seemed a little thick on the nail at three, but dried surprisingly fast. I adore pale yellows, so this is a winner for me!
China Glaze Girls Just Wanna Have Sun

China Glaze Don't Be Shallow is a soft sky blue crelly. This is more on the sheer side, but thick at the same time. I could see this possibly getting gummy upon further use. I was very close to almost getting full coverage in two coats, but I needed a third. I didn't mind the third coat though, because it was easy to put on, unlike some three coaters can be.
China Glaze Don't Be Shallow

China Glaze Pink Or Swim is a warm bubblegum pink crème. A classic shade, this is true, but this one just caught my attention so much when I had it on. It's very flattering! Two easy, perfect coats.
China Glaze Pink or Swim

China Glaze Moonlight The Night is a glitter topper in a clear base. It features blue and purple translucent type hexes that are color reflective. You can see in the bottle the difference to how it looks over a pale base color. I put one coat over Don't Be Shallow. Although I like the combination, this was very thick after putting on a top coat. So I'd recommend a different base color that needs less layers. This would also look amazing over a dark base. I've pictured it in full sunlight and in the shade to better show off the color shifting look the glitters have.

China Glaze Shut The Front Door! is a mauve purpley-pink metallic shimmer. This applied pretty well but I found it a tad runny. Full opacity in two coats, some visible brushstrokes. I wasn't sure I was going to like this shade at first, but it really knocked me out!

China Glaze Glitter Me This... is a glitter topper with a clear base. There are various sizes of matte white and pale pink hex glitters as well as mirror-like gold hexes in this. Stunning and pretty unique! I only needed one coat over Pink or Swim for this look.
China Glaze Glitter Me This...

China Glaze Come Rain Or Shine is a bold azure blue with tons of pink shimmer. This shade of blue is so different looking to me, it's matchless in my collection! The formula on this guy was really good, neither thin or thick, opaque in two coats.
China Glaze Come Rain Or Shine

China Glaze Chrome Is Where The Heart Is is a blush pink chrome metallic. Not totally a smooth chrome, kind of foil-like. Completely opaque in one coat! Shows some brushstrokes and/or imperfections in the nail bed though, so apply carefully.

This collection is available now in stores such as Sally Beauty Supply and Ulta for around $7 each. Let me know what you think about this set! I really can't pick a favorite, I love them all so much! Are you a Spring shades kinda gal?

China Glaze Holiday 2014 Twinkle Collection Swatches & Review

Good day to you! It's Friday so of course it's a good day ;) I want to show you the Holiday 2014 collection from China Glaze, called Twinkle. Think it's about time that I am posting these? Yeah me too, shush haha. This collection has twelve shades full of sparkle and sass and wintery goodness!

First is Define Good... which is a great name haha. This is a shiny ruby cranberryish red with luster shimmer. It has an incredibly opaque formula, it's thick but in a good way. This is two coats, however you could definitely get away with one.
China Glaze Define Good...

Next we have Out Like A Light, a deep slightly muted grey crème. This is kind of a dark mud color, like deep grey clay mud. It's got an easy to use formula, thin but not overly so. It was opaque in one coat, I've shown you two here.
China Glaze Out Like A Light

This guy is called December to Remember. It's a lighter wintery icy blue shimmer with pink microglimmers and foil flecks that turn it duochromey in lower lights. I couldn't get a great shade photo for you but my friend Jen caught some great ones, check out her post here. This is a tad brushstrokey. Two coats.
China Glaze December to Remember

Speaking of brushstrokes, haha ;) here we have I'd Melt For You. It's a chrome silver that is pretty dope. It almost rivals OPI Push & Shove in it's chromeness, but it's not quite as smooth and reflective as that one. The brushstrokes aren't really that bad in person, don't be scared of it. If you apply it with a light floaty stroke, you'll have no issues. One coat!
China Glaze I'd Melt For You

This is Tip Your Hat, a medium red crème. This applied so easily and it was opaque in one coat. I used two here because I just do that with crèmes I guess. You might be saying, yawn another red, but c'mon. It's probably the most popular shade of polish in the world, and it is a holiday collection, of course there's a red in it. And as far as reds go, it's pretty great!
China Glaze Tip Your Hat

Here we have No Peeking!, a greyed icy grape frosty shimmer. This is definitely a frost, but if you are careful with application it looks more like a shimmer. It has similar application to Define Good... but it's thinner and a little easier. I used two coats, but it's opaque in one. Do I sound like a broken record? If so, that's a record I'd like to buy haha.
China Glaze No Peeking!

Meet Me Under The Stars is a black jelly with a slight blue tint filled with tiny silver and black glitters. This is SO pretty! It seriously does look like a sky filled with stars. Excellent formula and easy to use, not thick or gummy. Two coats.
China Glaze Meet Me Under the Stars

This is a fun one, Chillin' With My Snow-mies! It has a clear base with different sizes of matte white hex glitters. It's like falling snow! Unfortunately there is a LOT of clear base, most likely to keep the glitter from sinking, but unfortunately that means fishing for glitter. I placed the glitter by dabbing it on with my brush, trying not to get so much base on my nail, but you can still see the bubbles where it got thick. I have to say though that I almost don't care because this turned out quite pretty haha. I used one "coat" over Define Good...
China Glaze Chillin' With My Snow-mies

Here we have a bright blue micro glitter called Feeling Twinkly. I put it on top of December to Remember. It has great coverage for a microglitter, but I think it would be difficult to get opaque on its own. This is two coats. Dries a little satiny so use a topcoat for maximum shine.
China Glaze Feeling Twinkly

This party animal is called Dancing & Prancing, a clear base filled with muted multicolored foily glitters. This is a nice change up from the usual rainbow glitter mixes we've seen before. Excellent glitter payoff in one coat, seen here over No Peeking!
China Glaze Dancing & Prancing

Next is Pine-ing For Glitter, an emerald tealish green glitter. It has the same itty-bitty microglitters as Feeling Twinkly and also two sizes of hexes which gives it have more dimension. You get a good amount of glitter on with one coat, which I layered over Tip Your Hat.
China Glaze Pine-ing For Glitter

And last we have De-Light, a light yellowy gold glitter mix in a clear base. It has holographic bar glitter in it too! Yay for this! It is totally a New Year's Eve type of glitter and I love it. Amazing and dense, this is only one coat over Out Like a Light.
China Glaze De-Light

I have to admit I wasn't super excited for this collection when I first saw it, but I am seriously impressed with all the great opaque formulas and fun glitters! I don't know if I've ever seen this many one-coaters in a China Glaze collection! My faves are No Peeking!, De-Light, and Meet Me Under the Stars. Tell me which are your favs! Did you pick any of these up? You might still be able to find these at your Sally Beauty Supply or Ulta stores, they may even be on clearance now.

Thanks for taking a trip back to the holidays with me today!

My Picks from the China Glaze Crinkled Chrome Collection

Today I've got three polishes from the China Glaze Crinkled Chrome collection to show you! I saw some swatches on a nail wheel online somewhere last year before they came out and before I even heard about the collection, and I was almost disgusted. Textured, wrinkly, bumpy chromes?! Wtf, right? But then I saw some better swatches from some bloggers and I changed my mind. I still am not sure if I am in love with them, but I definitely don't hate them.

All of these had the same formula/consistency so I'll tell you about them collectively. I had heard that these work best when using only one coat so that's what I did for all of the swatches. Two coats would make them too thick and chunky, therefore it's convenient (and probably planned) that they are so opaque in one. They have nice metallic chrome bases and are filled with the little sand-like bits that are usual for texture polishes and some string glitter that beefs up the coarseness even more. They are thick but easy to paint with. They dried quickly and were nicely reflective once dry.

Aluminate is a chrome silver. I kind of adore this one.
China Glaze - Aluminate

Crush, Crush, Baby is a gorgeous lavender. My favorite of the three.
China Glaze - Crush, Crush, Baby

I'm a Chromantic is a rose pink. I thought I would like this one more but I don't care for it with my skin tone.
China Glaze - I'm a Chromantic

I think most people have a strong reaction to this collection, either love or hate, but my verdict is that they are pretty cute. The other colors in the collection include a sea foam green, a light blue and a light teal. I might want to get the green but I can live without the others.

Tell me what you think about this crazy texture collection! Do you love them or hate them? You can buy China Glaze polishes from Sally Beauty Supply and Ulta as well as from etailers like Transdesign.

Broadway Fashion Diva Chrome Nails

Have you heard of Minx? The hip nail design sensation that has been flashed all over the media, from celebrities to us regular folk. Basically it's a flexible film that adheres to the nail by way of heat, applied by a nail technician in a salon. Their designs are practically limitless and many other companies have taken note of this idea and put a spin on the product so the average woman can get her tips to look as perfect as a professionally applied set of Minx.

Their most popular "design" would probably be their mirror-like gold nails, as seen on singers Beyoncé and Katy Perry. I would RAWK those gold suckers, as you know I la la love my gold! However a sister design, this time in silver is also making it's way around the runways.

*Sigh* what's a girl to do if she doesn't have access to a salon that applies Minx Nails? Or more likely, what if a trendsetting diva just doesn't want to fork over the money that a set would put her back? Well you can imagine my surprised and astonishment when I found out Broadway Nails sells a super awesome set of false nails that have the mirror-like silver/chrome look, for loads less moola!
This pack of Fashion Diva nails comes with 24 nails, both in plain chrome and zebra print chrome. And there are 12 sizes, so you can best fit the tips to your nails. The box is about $5.99, and you definitely know I'm going to get their worth--my nails are unhappy nubbins right now, so I will totally be rocking these for a while until they grow out some. These are "medium" length, but seem a bit long for me. No worries, though, as you can always clip or file them w/o damage. They're supposed to last for 7 days, I hope it's true, because chiiiillllddd these are some fierce talons!
KellieGonzo: Broadway Fashon Diva Chrome Nails
I am impressed with these so far, because they are very comfortable, unlike some other false nails I've tried.  They're very light and easy to apply and I did not have any trouble fitting them to my nail beds.
KellieGonzo: Broadway Fashon Diva Chrome Nails
Would you ever wear these or something similar? I would love them even more if they came in gold! There are lots of different designs from Broadway right now, available in your local CVS, Kmart, Walgreens, Walmart, Rite Aid, and online at www.beautyonlinesupply.com.

xoxo,

china glaze millennium

china glaze put out a khrome collection a few months ago and millennium is the one i picked out of the bunch. it's a true chrome-like silver polish with a gorgeous metallic shine. these polishes dry almost immediately so they can be a bit tricky to apply but they are opaque in one coat so you could forgive them that :) this is two, because i had some brush strokes to cover.
we're finally getting some snow here in utah, it's been a surprisingly mild winter compared to last year! bad air pollution this time tho, due to being located in a valley--so i've already gone a few rounds with bronchitis and coughing-colds. fun times huh. hope your week is going well!
