piggy paint

are you a mom? do you have little girls who love to paint their nails? or do you just hate the chemical smell that comes along with many nail polishes that are out on the market today? then you might want to take a look at a little brand named "Piggy Paint"! i have to admit, i was really interested in a nail polish that claimed to be "as natural as mud", so i had to do a little research. their polish is:

* Non-toxic
* Low Odor
* Water-based formula
* Hypoallergenic
* Fun, vibrant colors
* Dries to a hard, durable finish
* Cruelty-free
* Safe for use during Pregnancy!

piggy paint was born because once when the founder (a hard working mom) was painting her fancy little girls' fingers and toes, a glob of polish dropped onto a foam plate. the plate then began to bubble and she was astonished to see that the plate was being "eaten away" from the chemicals in the regular polish she was using!

now i'm not a mom, and i don't go around painting kids' fingers, or stuffing my fingers in anyone's mouth or anything, haha, but honestly that story did kind of freak me out. below is the picture of a foam plate with samples of piggy paint vs. regular nail polish.
see how they compare?? wow. another thing i really like about their company is that they have received the Excellence Award from Safbaby.com and they now are approved as a vendor of mom approved child tested products from them.  also, a portion of their sales from a special breast cancer gift set will be donated to the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure for research.  and they use 100% reused peanuts from their local community to ship their products.
"Piggy Paint is proud to introduce their new “Project Earth” line of nail polishes that are suited for young ladies who are concerned about Planet Earth. There are 5 wild, neon colors, and even a glow-in-the-dark polish! With names like "The Boyfriend Blues" and "Eat Your Peace", tweens are lovin' this eco-friendly, water-based alternative that dries to a hard, durable finish. Piggy Paint Project Earth's odorless formula makes it perfect to use at sleepovers for hours of manis and pedis. There's no need to worry about those harsh, stinky chemicals anymore! Project Earth is a great piggyback (no pun intended) to their original line geared more towards little ones. Project Earth has launched in conjunction with Piggy Paint's new, updated website since April 1."
i was able to try out two of the polishes from the new Project Earth "tween" line.  even though i'm no tween, heehee, i can still appreciate a good neon!

solar power is a bright shocking yellow that went on pretty streaky, but to be honest i was AMAZED at the feeling of this polish.  it really just feels like slightly thick water!  and it doesn't smell at all.  which is awesome.  i think i'm almost immune to nail polish smells these days but it would be nice if they didn't smell at all haha.  i didn't use a base or a topcoat on these swatches, i wanted to test how they dried by themselves.  and honestly?  it dried amazingly fast.  neons usually do, i know, but i was expecting it to be slower because of the water-based formula.  i do think it would look better over white though.

lol is a super cute neon pink color that i can imagine any "tween" girl going crazy over.  this one went on much better, with almost no streakyness.  and again, just felt like water.  no smell, super fast dry time.  i would wear this again in a second!  great job piggy paint :)
