Guest Post by ChitChat Nails: Neon Glitter Tips

Hi everyone, I have unfortunately sustained a small injury on my swatching hand :( I will be fine of course, but can't swatch for the time being. A few of my talented blog friends have agreed to help me out for a while with guest posts, yay! Today's post is from Marta of ChitChat Nails. She is a beautiful and super sweet chick who has awesome nails and a great blog. She does amazing nail art too, which is something I've never been able to get the hang of. Thanks to Marta for agreeing to help and I hope if you aren't already that you will follow her fabulous blog!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hello Lovely Ladies,

My name is Marta and I run a Canadian nail-art blog called ChitChat Nails. Let me start by asking you this: "don't you ever wish that you could remember some of the earliest events from when you were a baby? The first moments, your first influences?"... well, I sure remember my first influences when I was a "blogging baby" 2.5 years ago- and Kellie was a MAJOR one of them! Still wet behind the ears, new to manicure cleanup, proper lighting etc, Kellie's blog was like a magical world of perfection to me! I would literally sit in awe and amazement at her swatches. When Kellie started following me on Twitter I nearly passed out with excitement, and her request for me to put together a guest post (I will unabashedly admit) made me squeal with delight!
Long story short, I am beyond words honored to be here. Two and a half years into blogging I still have many things to learn, but I hope you will like today's post :D

I created a fun and bright funky-french look. I started out by sponging KBShimmer Pink Twice on the tips of my nails. I then added Cirque Electric Circus and Lush Lacquer Clowning Around to the tips. Finally I added the OPI Matte topcoat :D I hope you like my take on a neon-bright funky-french manicure.

Do you reach for neons in the summer time?
THANK YOU FOR READING!

Broadway Fast French Deceptions Falsies

I am borderline obsessed with oval nails these days. I absolutely love how the shape looks on women. Very feminine and sexy. Now every time I try to shape my nails into a more round or pointed shape, I end up scrutinizing every nanometer of the shape and end up hating it. I don't think they are pretty close up in photos, well the kind of photos I post, so it would be pretty dumb to do that shape permanently.

I have pretty much never seen oval or pointed tips in the glue-on falsies kits in the drugstore, so when I saw these Broadway Fast French Deceptions in K-Mart the other day I squee'd and snatched them up.

They were a little longer than I was comfortable with so I ended up taking them off after a day. SMH. I wanted to be ambitious and keep them on as long as possible but I decided it was a futile effort. Oh well, I liked them for the time I wore them. These were about $9 for 24 nails and nail glue, although I prefer to use the sticky grip pads instead as they cause less damage.

nailene couture

this review is looong overdue, i apologize :) i got some products from nailene a few months ago and decided to give them a go. these artificial full-cover nails are part of their couture line, which features designs that are "straight off the runway". i don't usually wear falsies because i don't like to think of putting glue on my poor natural nails haha, but i was excited to try these because they're super pretty. nailene also boasts a "no chip" technology and a natural look that makes theirs some of the best artificial nails available. i've only tried a few other brands ever, but these are definitely the best i've used. they are super light, they fit better than i expected, and they come in a variety of sizes--even in the small boxes like these. they have full nail sets available too, with even more sizes and fits to accommodate almost every shape and type of nail there is.
i love this design too, you know i'm not big on nail art, so this simple but fancy look was perfect for me. i realized after i had them glued that the stripes could be all facing the same direction, but oh well haha, they turned out in a wave for me :) the glue is pink tinted, which is nice, makes it less noticeable under the bed of the false nail.  i put a layer of seche retain on before i glued them on, even though they suggest for maximum adhesion and longevity to glue them on clean, freshly buffed nails.  i just can't get around putting glue on my natural nails haha, they're my babies!

these were easy to apply, but can be tricky to take off.  i soaked them in acetone for about 10 minutes, as suggested, but the nails were not dissolved as the package denotes.  even though technically i shouldn't have scraped at my nails, i used a wood orange stick to get the "goo" off that they became after the soaking and then finished with a good scrub with acetone on a felt square.  i think if i hadn't have used a base underneath, removal could've been even more difficult.  so, in conclusion, if you want a fast, fashionable mani but fail at art or application, these are a great option.  but be sure to give yourself plenty of time and care with removal.
what do you think of these? i think the reason falsies look so great on is because they can sort of hide your cuticles, and we all know those bad boys can make or break a hot nail look.

icky french mani

any nail blogger that's been around more than a week knows most of them/us detest french mani's, well in the traditional sense. stark white, garishly long tips with pink beds? the horror! but, i like them. no, honestly, i LOVE them. you may recall seeing a post of mine about the Jerseylicious girls, and how much i cherish their re-donk-ulous acrylic nails. it's totally wrong haha i know, but what can i say?

anyway, a while ago my nails were HELLA long thanks to seche retain base coat/treatment (IT'S AMAZING) and i decided to see what a traditional frenchie would look like on me. honestly, my nails have never been this long before, and probably never will be again haha. it was awesome, but crazy.

i used maybelline's salon expert french tip white for the tips, free-handed then fixed with a brush and acetone.  then i covered the entire nail with china glaze's sheer pinky love letters polish. and of course added a squishy topcoat of seche vite. haha you like? as perez hilton would say, icky icky poo!
do you have any guilty pleasures when it comes to nails and/or nail art? spill!

xoxo,

jerseylicious nails

does anyone out there watch a little show called...
well i do. i know i know. it's a guilty pleasure. i can't stop! i am really sad that it won't be on for another two months. it's about a salon in jersey and all the ladies that work there. and i have to say i'm "team olivia" if you know what that means. i'm so addicted to talking jersey style and teasing my hair now LOL!

and...another side effect has become my huge lemming of tracy dimarco's (the blonde in the leopard print above) nails. they're acrylic "flair" type with dark pink and miles of white french style. they look like they're slightly bubbled up too.
it's a sickness. i neeeeeeeeeeed these nails! for no other reason but to fulfill the craving. i know they're horrendous. i know. but i had to share :D
the show is on the style network. if you don't watch but you like reality shows and hair, makeup, beauty, and a little drama ;) then you'll probably like this!

2 pedi's and a quick mani

this manicure i did in literally like 5 minutes for my cousin's wedding last weekend. it is pure ice rosebud :) two coats, probably should've done 3 but oh well. cute i think.this pedicure i actually rocked for like two weeks. the base is massini (one that i won from mary at body and soul blog THANKS again!) infusion and sally hansen xtreme wear vip pink over the top for some sparkle.
the second pedi is the one i'm currently wearing, color club milky white base, maybelline salon expert white, and tropez super pearl enamel in aqua pearl for the flowers. i'm loving the tropez brand, the bottle reminds me of barry m (although there's not very many colors that i saw in walgreens).hope your weekends are going great! i'm being a swatching fool, so look out :)

nude beach glitz

this post should've been done before the previous post technically, because i wore it before i broke my nail. so don't get confused as my nails in these pics are still long and glorious *sob*.

the base is essie's nude beach which is a great sparkly crystaly nude/white/slightly pink that you can wear super sheer or build to bottle color. this is 4 coats i believe. it looked a little plain and i needed a little more drama that day so i topped the tips with wet n' wild craze glitz glitter. it was super easy to do the tips, two coats. (i used seche in between the base and the tips.)
la la love you ladies! hope you all have a wonderful friday ♥

french mani and red pedi

buenos noches blogger land!

i have not done a free hand french in forever, mostly because i'm not very good at it and i'm a perfectionist. so when i stare at my fingers all day and see the mistakes, i end up just taking it off. and a good french deserves more than a day of wear i think, am i right?! haha, anyway my nails have grown pretty well so i decided to give it a go. i went with the natural smile line and used essie blanc for the white, then fixed the line with a regular chisel art brush and acetone. which should make the line just about perfect, but nay it is not. oh well! i covered it with china glaze love letters, should've done two or three coats, but i ended up rushing so i could only do one and a quick seche vite top. i ended up with bubbles cuz i didn't thin my seche before :( and i couldn't tell at first, but the yellow of my beds is really personified. EW!! no bueno.

but a trip to ulta on friday resulted in FINALLY finding nail tek's foundation II ridge filler/base coat (which i've had a lemming for forever, mostly from mary's blog "body and soul") so i used it to mattify the french. which helped a little. anyway, never one to leave well enough alone...i had also purchased an ulta glitter polish (they were on sale for $2, regularly $5) called after party, a red and silver glitter, so i put that on top. i also threw on rush topcoat to make it super super shiny. i went the third day with a glitter french. so *phew* i think three days is a good run no? haha :)

*shiny**matte**glitter*

also my sister decided to paint my toesies since i always paint hers while she was over the other day, so here's her work! revlon's cherries in the snow :) super cuuuute!
