Glitter Gal - Hot Chilli & Transfusion

Today I have two new Glitter Gal holographic lacquers to show you. They are both limited editions and there were only a few batches made. I have to admit, I might be cooling off on the holo trend. At first they were quite the novelty, but now they're so popular they seem almost commonplace to me (except for my beloved orange holo I posted the other day). Every indie seller makes them these days, but I still give Glitter Gal props for being one of the first brands to do them really well and bring them more into the mainstream.

First is Hot Chilli, a warm autumnal red holo. This one dried very matte on me, almost weirdly so, so I put topcoat on over it, which technically you shouldn't do with holos. That did dull the holo effect, but I think it looked nicer despite that. This is two coats plus topcoat.
Glitter Gal - Hot Chilli

This one is called Transfusion, which would suggest a blood red polish, but this is more purple to me. The same weird matte thing happened as it dried, so again I put topcoat over it. This time it definitely affected the holo finish more than I liked. If I wear these again, I will wear them without a topcoat. I do like the color a lot though, very sexy. This is two coats with topcoat.
Glitter Gal - Transfusion

I can't find these guys in stock online anymore but maybe they will reappear sometime in the future. You can purchase Glitter Gal nail polishes from their website, Llarowe, Harlow & Co, or Ninja Polish. Do you still love holographic polish or are you more ambivalent towards it these days like me?

Guest Post by Samarium's Swatches: Neon Watermarble

Hi folks! I'm almost recuperated enough to start swatching again but I do have another awesome guest post for you today, this time from Sarah of Samarium's Swatches. This gal is so fab, her photos and manicure skills make me envious! I also just love her blog style, delightful and so fun. I'm happy to show you her awesome nail art post here and be sure to check her out so you can keep up with all her awesome manicures!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hey guys! My name is Sarah from Samarium's Swatches!
Kellie asked me to help her out with a guest post and I gladly obliged after a few failed attempts! haha

For today's post I just knew I wanted to do something neon and bright!

First I started off with a white base, using Zoya Purity.
Using a wedge makeup sponge and the gradient sponging technique I used the following colors,
in the following order.
For those unfamiliar you paint each color onto the sponge in a strip and then stamp the sponge on each nail. Then repaint and repeat once more onto your nails. I'd recommend using less colors though!

Illamasqua - Poke
China Glaze - Shocking Pink
Illamasqua - Gamma
Illamasqua - Rare
Illamasqua - Nurture
Illamasqua - Nomad
Illamasqua - Serenity

Then I mattified it with Butter London Matte Finish!

Then using A England Camelot, Glitter Gal Turbulence and Orly Nailtrition I tried a water marble.

I've been trying to practice at water marbling once a week lately, and I actually have improved some!
I'm not great at it but I really love how this turned out! Especially the pinky!

What do you guys think? I hope you like it!

Breathing Under Teal Blue Water

A few posts ago I showed you some new Glitter Gal holographic polishes, but I forgot one. Ironic since this one is my favorite of the bunch. It's called Teal Blue. It's a pretty color for a holo and one I didn't have in my collection. Awesome formula, opaque with a strong linear holo. Three coats.

I recently picked up a few polishes from a new-to-me indie brand called Wing Dust Collections that is based in Canada. She threw in a mini with my order and I loved it. It's called Breathing Underwater, a navy blue jelly with different types of glitter in blue, periwinkle, and brown. Love this combo! I might pick up a full size bottle of this.

You can buy Glitter Gal polish from Llarowe for $11 and Wing Dust Collections can be bought from their Etsy store for $8.50 each.

New Glitter Gal Holographics

My ladies down in Australia at Glitter Gal sent me some of their new holographic colors in their redesigned 10 mL bottles a while ago. I like the new bottle style much better. It's great they've expanded on their already fabulous product line!

Belgian Chocolate is a reddish brown rainbow holographic polish. I don't know if this is my favorite shade from GG, but my mother loved it so much she plucked it out of my hands the second I was done taking photos and put it on! Two coats.

Blue Suede Shoes is almost-pastel stark sky blue base with silver holo. I used three coats on this but it probably would've been fine with two. I love me some Elvis, so of course I love the name of this guy! I wish the holo was a little stronger.

Citrine is a golden yellow, just like it's namesake gem. The holo is pretty strong in this one, albeit a bit sheer. I used three coats and it could've used a fourth I think. Very pretty.

Wisteria is a lovely shade that also reflects it's moniker, a cool pale lavender with strong holo. This is also a tad sheer, this is three coats. The name reminds me of Desperate Housewives haha.

Glitter Gal can be purchased from their online store for AUD$11.95 or from US stockist Llarowe for $11. Have you tried any of Glitter Gal's newest shades? I want to grab the dark purple holo called Crushed Ego!

Glitter Gal Australia New Polish Lines

Hi friends :) Today I have some polishes from Glitter Gal Australia's new lines, Transitions, Shade Shifters, and Opal Effects. Very exciting, seeing new stuff from GG, home of the world's best holographic polishes. Here we go!

"Shade Shifters are metallic shades shifting / changing finish with intense primary color effect which reflects a different color spectrum when viewed at a different angle. G Gal’s "Shade Shifters" are similar to those you see on wings of exotic beetles - they shift from one shade to another when viewed from different angles."

First is a Shade Shifter, called Hidden Violet. It's a “Soft” finish - more smooth polished look with finer particles. This has a soft purple base with a reflective purple and blue metallic tones. This is two coats over a black cream.

Next is a Shade Shifter with “Brilliant” finish - very bright glitter effect showing slightly larger particles, called Last Light. This sparkler has a deep copper tone with a beetle wing green shimmer from different angles. This is two coats over black.

"For a Soft Look simply apply over clean dry nails to reveal an elegant colored pearl effect. If applied directly onto unpainted nails the Transition Effect Nail Polish gives you a very soft color tint over your nails that just dances with a hint of colour when seen from different angles. You can't take your eyes off it!"

Here is one of the new Transitions, meant to be applied either alone on the nail for a soft pearl look or over a vivid dark base color. This is Transitions Soft Blue, two coats again layered over black. The milky base applies as a shimmer sapphire pearlescent coating.

"Glitter Gal’s Opal Collection was inspired and named after Australian outback mining towns, as the Opal polish captures the look of Australia’s beautiful opals - your nails will be transformed."

The Opal shade I have is called Lightning Ridge, a clear jelly base with green and coppery flakes. I personally found this to be a delight, different from a lot of the other flakies I have. The flake shards are nice and flat, but are separate like glitter pieces, unlike something like Sally Hansen Hidden Treasure. Very nice if not a bit more sparse than I expected. This is three coats over black.

Glitter Gal polishes can be purchased from Glitter Gal directly, or from Llarowe and NinjaPolish, the US stockists for Glitter Gal, or from Harlow & Co, the Canadian stockist for Glitter Gal. On the Glitter Gal website, the 9mL bottles are AUD $11.95 and the 15mL bottles are AUD $17.95.

Glitter Gal - 10 to Midnight

Heeeey folks! Sorry I've been so sporatic in posting these days. Such is life. I'm glad you still love me despite my inconsistencies as of late.

This is Glitter Gal's newest holographic nail polish called 10 to Midnight. It's a slightly frosty charcoal grey with that amazing rainbow linear holo. I wasn't aware it had a frost finish before I tried it and wasn't sure how it would turn out once I realized it, but it totally works. Three coats.

You can find this at Llarowe online store, who carries tons of awesome brands that are hard to get in the states. There's been a lot of buzz about more new GG colors coming soon, so I'm way pumped for that of course! Glitter is life.

Glitter Gal Holos

Thought I would show you some more swatches that have been cluttering up my back files for freaking ever. These are three Glitter Gal polishes, three holographics to be more specific. These are from www.shop.llarowe.com from Leah Ann, who is a super doll. She carries all sorts of "foreign" brands that can be hard to obtain, GGs, Ozotics, Picture Polish, a England, and some of the Brazilian brands I've shown on my blog like HITS and Ludurana.

I have to start with my love, red holographic Red "sparkle". I know the ladies over at GG are in the process of choosing new names for most of their polishes, but I have this version simply called Red. It's the non-linear version, the one with larger holo particles. So gorgeous and sexy and va va voom! This is two coats.

Next is Lizard Belly, a dark green, almost black, linear holo. I love the rainbow that comes from this guy. This was a new color for 2011, it came out the same time as Light as a Feather which I've shown you before. This is two coats.

This is Fuchsia , the linear holographic version. I really adore pink polish anyway and adding a fab rainbow holo flash to a pretty pink makes it even cuter! This is three coats. WOW look at that holo eh?

Thanks to Leah Ann again! Visit her shop www.shop.llarowe.com or my pal Kim's site www.overallbeauty.com if you're in the US, or if you're in Australia, go to http://www.glittergal.com.au/nails/products_nails3D.html to purchase these shades.

Glitter Gal - Light as a Feather

Hey everyone, I have been M.I.A. for a while and I wanted to let you know I am sorry for leaving you hanging. Not that anyone's gonna pine for me if I don't blog or anything, just a few people have been asking me what was up. I am going through a tough time in my life right now and don't have as much time and energy for blogging as I used to. It is something I want to continue to do, but it will be on a scaled back basis. Thank you for everyone who have sent me well wishes and internet-hugs, I love you all!

This is a new Glitter Gal nail polish called Light as a Feather. It's a *GASP* white linear holographic polish! I don't think I ever dreamed this would happen and yet the folks down under (Australia) at Glitter Gal have done it! This is a creamy white polish with fabulous rainbow holo, absolutely breathtaking. This is three coats.

You can buy Glitter Gal polishes from US supplier www.shop.llarowe.com who furnished this amazing polish for my review, or at www.overallbeauty.com or if you're a local Aussie, at www.glittergal.com.au

Glitter Gal - Marine Blue & Black

I recently bought a few Glitter Gal polishes from Leah Ann on her site http://shop.llarowe.com/, so I thought I'd show you them finally haha ;)

This is 3D Holographic Marine Blue, a bright primary blue with amazing linear holographic properties. Gorgeous. One of my favorite GGs ever.

This is 3D Holographic Black, super gorgeous charcoal black with a great linear holo. Beautiful and this totally squelches my desire for OPI's original My Private Jet.

Both swatches are three coats using Gosh Fix Base Coat as a base and no top coat. :)

Glitter Gal Sale and Giveaway

Please enjoy this contest and sale information from Leah Ann via shop.llarowe.com.
The helicopter crash in Afghanistan killed soldiers, fathers, husbands, sons and friends. The members of the military and their families make extraordinary sacrifices for our freedom and deserve our support. Being from a military family I know first hand the sacrifices that these families endure with selfless service to our country.

I will be giving away a set of the Glitter Gal Red, Light As A Feather (white) and Marine Blue to honor these fallen soldiers and their families. This will be a random drawing to be held on September 11, 2011. On the same day, as a tribute to these fallen soldiers and their families, 50% of all sales of Glitter Gal Red, Marine Blue and Light As A Feather on shop.llarowe.com or my Ebay site llarowe, will be donated to the following organization to benefit the families of these soldiers:

Thank you so much for your support and God bless our soldiers and their families for their sacrifices for our freedom!

Glitter Gal - US Stockist

Happy July lacqueristas! Oh how time flies, I feel like just yesterday was the beginning of 2011 and it's already half over! Cray, cray.

Thought I would let you in on a little bit of news, très exciting. The LOVELY brand Glitter Gal has been producing high quality holographic nail polish as well as other awesome cosmetics for some time now. However, being based in Australia, it is hard for us chicas across the water to stomach the shipping prices--even though the GG girls don't mark up shipping at all. What they pay is what you pay, so really they don't get anything extra from the deal. The quality of the polish is very high, but overseas shipping is not the easiest pill to swallow.

Howeva...there is a light at the end of the tunnel. There is now a US stockist selling Glitter Gal nail polish on Ebay! I just logged on and bought the Marine Blue and Black holographic polishes, yay! I've been lemming those for a while now. She does ship internationally, excluding a few countries that are having customs issues at the moment. Anyhoo, I couldn't keep the news to myself any longer, knowledge and greatness is meant to be shared eh ;)

Glitter Gal and Wanted Shoes

I have come to really adore the ladies over at Glitter Gal, a cosmetics company in Australia. They are great people and fab businesswomen! Recently they collaborated with an Australian shoe company called Wanted Shoes and came up with six custom nail polish shades to complement this season’s collection. One side of the bottle has Glitter Gal's logo and the other side has Wanted Shoes'.
I was sent a few bottles to review and have to report that these are great colors and what a fun idea! First, Most Wanted Red is a jelly crème polish in scarlet that glides on like a total dream. It is perfectly named as well, not too orange, not too blue toned, so of course it would be "most wanted" along with tying in perfectly with Wanted Shoes' name :)  This is two coats.

Purple Patch is a darling shade of easter lavender, a crème polish that is perfect for starting out the spring. I bubbled a bit on this one but I was having basecoat issues that day :P This is also two coats.
I will be happy to report that Glitter Gal is running full steam ahead for the new year and is working on launching in the US! I know shipping costs make us stateside ladies cringe a little and hopefully sooner than later we won't have to worry about it anymore.  Good luck to Glitter Gal and Wanted Shoes, this is a great collection!
