Sinful Shine Prosecco Swatch & Review

Hey friends! Today I have something of a unicorn to show you. It's Sinful Shine Prosecco. This isn't a terribly remarkable polish really, but it appeared and disappeared from store shelves in a neck-snapping turn around, which is kind of odd. So it's very in demand and very hard to find. I stumbled upon it in a Rite Aid the last time I went out of town back in late October so I snatched it up. Did it live up to the hype?

This is a greige polish with lots of gold microshimmer, kinda glass fleck-y which is lovely. It leans very grey on me, which is good because I was worried about this color next to my skin tone. It's quite sheer, this three coats and it's still kinda see-through. Easy formula though, very smooth.

This is the first Sinful Shine polish I've tried and I don't really have a different opinion of it versus regular Sinful Colors polishes but it is nice. I quite like the color and am glad I have it! You can pick up this brand at drugstores like Walgreens, Rite Aid and Walmart. Sadly I think this guy might be gone from your local store shelves, but you might find it unexpectedly like I did. Or try ebay ;) What do you think of Prosecco? Did you manage to get your hands on it?

Byeeeee!

Nails Inc. Neon and Nude Collection

Hi there and hello :D I hope your April is off to a great start. Today I have a collection from Nails Inc. London to show you, a set of mini polishes in shades of Nude and Neon! I have only owned one Nails Inc. polish in my life, and it was an older one I got from a blog sale. So needless to say, I was stoked to be able to try these out.

Portobello is my favorite of the collection,  it's a super shiny neon orange-coral jelly crème. This is three coats. The tiny lid and brush are a bit tough to manipulate but it wasn't terribly difficult.

Porchester Square is described as a "muted mushroom". It's a lovely pale grey crème that I find to be really flattering. This is two coats.

Notting Hill Gate is a gorgeous neon pink. I really adore neons and this is truly a stunning one. This is three coats.

Nails Inc. describes Jermyn Street as the "perfect taupe". It seems a bit darker than I'd expect and almost looks purple tinted. This is two coats.

Here is the last neon, Westbourne Grove. It's an orangey yellow bright, kind of along the lines of China Glaze's Sun Worshiper. I like this one very much as well, it's fun and unexpected. This is three coats.

Cadogan Square is the last of this collection. It's a "classic camel" color, it reminds me of a luxe trench coat. Two coats on this guy.

Hope you enjoyed this review :) You can pick up this collection on NailsInc.com for £22.00 or on Sephora.com for $25.

Random Swatches

I used to have a huge back log of swatches but I've gotten rid of most of them that I don't like or that I think I could improve on. These are what's left over from what I had. I need a camera that takes good macro photos indoors, or I just need to learn how, or I have to wait til I have the ambition to swatch during the sunlight hours. Otherwise I dislike my photos, and I won't post them. That's just the way it is I'm afraid *shrug*. Hope you don't mind.

This is Peachy Keen by Misa from the Hip to My Jive collection from this summer/fall. It's a shimmery sandy peach. It honestly doesn't look like much in the bottle but I love it on. This is two coats. I love Misa so hard.

Next is New Bohemian from Color Club's Back to Boho collection from this fall. It's blue/green turquoise "Tiffany" blue color that we've seen before but I still adore it! Perfect crème, two coats.

This is another Color Club polish from Back to Boho, Nomadic Nude. I really have a soft spot for neutrals and this putty greige is just so classic looking. This formula was a bit watery, but still covered well in three coats.

I will be trying to actively swatch in the sunlight whenever it is available from now on, so don't give up on me yet. I figure if you're still reading this, you don't mind when I post, just that I post at all eh? ...Maybe that's just wishful thinking on my part. ;)

Sheswai Lacquers: Swatches & Review

I love this nail polish. I love that this nail polish brand has a manifesto. I love the bottle design. I literally gasped when I first saw them. Sheswai Lacquers are 3-free and sold in Anthropologie stores and online for $16. They have caps made from sustainably harvested wood, grown on family owned tree farms. HOT. And a portion of their sales is "given to organizations that help educate, and sustain our beautiful planet." I got the opportunity to try out two of their colors, which have freaking adorable names, and I was just as impressed with their quality as I was the brand image.

Honeyfox is a bright true red that seriously seduced my eyeballs. There are many reds out there, that is sure enough, but this one is pretty on point. It slid over my tips without any trouble and covered beautifully in two coats. It dried quickly too, I don't usually put topcoat on when I'm swatching and I happened to nick my nail against the bottle before I had taken any photos and it was already solid. Amazing.

Stoned is described as "a smooth pebble grey with a touch of lavender and a hint of shimmer that will leave you feeling blissfully happy." Well it damn well left me happy, it left me ecstatic! I absolutely adore this taupey shimmer bomb, it is so classy but still suitably bold. This is two coats as well.

I know many folks won't splurge $16 on nail polish, but you have to admit, they are awful cute. And from my experience, they perform just as well or better than other high end brands. Check out Sheswai's website, http://sheswai.com/, to see their philosophy on life and polish. I think you'll like what you see.

Butter London No More Waity, Katie

Helloooo dearies! (said in a British accent of course) I have to show you a much anticipated lacquer from Butter London. No More Waity, Katie is a cheeky polish whose name refers to the future wife of Prince William, Kate Middleton. I have heard that was her nickname in the tabloids because of the long wait for the proposal. It looks a bit different than the promo photo, but I'm pleased with it.
"In celebration of the upcoming Royal Wedding, butter LONDON is excited to announce No More Waity, Katie limited edition nail lacquer. Designed by Founding Creative Director, Nonie Creme, this exclusive colour transforms nails with the perfect amount of sparkle for a royal touch."
No More Waity, Katie is a soft grey purple watery crème with lilac glitter. I found it to be super sheer on the first coat, like unbelievably so, but it did end up building on itself just fine. Although, I did have to manipulate the glitter a bit to discourage patchiness. This is three-ish coats.

mac f/w nail trend 2010

mac is hawt. that's all there is to it. whether it's the "exclusivity" about the brand, the cult status, the sleek and sexy black packaging, or the fact that it's just plain good shit, people really freaking love mac. now, do people love mac nail polish?? in the past, it's been a pretty resounding "no!". or at least a small "no thanks". but, they have come a long way in terms of formula and their new stuff far outweighs their older polishes. at least, i've HEARD, as i haven't been a polish addict long enough to have any old macs.

the fall/winter polish trend, created with jin soon choi, is STUNNING. i mean, wow. glass fleck/glitter/micro-speckle? idk really. can't pinpoint them! but it's ok, sometimes no explanation is better :)
imperial flower is a heavenly orange, the color i imagine the oranges in the fruit orchard in my own personal nirvana to be!  flecks of gold and reddish orange glow from within this hot mama.  and here and there you can even detect slight bits of other colors, oh my stars!  it is slightly jelly, like the rest of the polishes.  this one was only two coats, great formula :)
ming blue was one i was ready to skip from looking at the press release, but i'm SOOO glad i gave it a spin.  gahh, when will i learn that blues just WORK on me??  today i suppose, because this beauty really just is fiiiiine!  inspired by the "ming vase" blue color, this reminds me of Bleu de France too, with light blue shimmer flecks.  in two coats this was perfection!  *sigh* can this collection get better??
OMG it can!  jade dragon is the first one my eye fell to when i first caught sight of these polishes.  i seriously think i drooled.  GORGEOUS deep forest green with blue-green shimmer/glitter that just makes you want to stop and stare, WOW.  two coats and opaque as all!  unfortunately, this one stains bad.  like stains in the time it took to paint four nails and take pictures, that bad.  oh well, WHO CARES this ish is gorj!
earthly harmony was exciting for me, which may sound a bit weird, because it's a neutral, but i really adore colors like this.  murky concrete putty colored with golden shimmer.  however, this just looked kinda weird on me.  i still love the color, it just doesn't translate with my skin tone very well.  three coats and a bit streaky.
concubine was probably the least unique looking to me out of the collection, a jelly bright blood red with pink/red shimmer flecks.  i also REALLY REALLY hate the name.  it's like naming a polish "whore".  sorry, no likey.  but yes, it is a very pretty polish but i would never buy it.  this is three coats.
and last, we have rain of flowers, a deep blackened violet polish with lighter purple and blue shimmer raining through it.  i really like the idea of this one, but it just doesn't pull itself off, unless you're in direct sunlight.  mostly it looks like a dark purple or black polish with a hint of gleam.  which is fine, but for something so spectacular in theory, it think something could've been tweaked to make it a bit better.  this is two coats.
so all in all, i really like half of the polishes and half are nice.  did you get any of these?  i just picked up jade dragon, but i wish i would've bought ming blue as well :)

untamed luxury pt. 2 indulgence

hiii folks :D today for your tuesday enjoyment i have the second half of the untamed luxury collection by color club, named every shade of indulgence. i like this set much better than the shimmer/diamond set i showed you first, i was very pleased with all except one of them.

i'll get the dud out of the way first, haha. pretty in platinum honestly is a cool color, i just can't work with polishes like these. it's a slightly gray tinged white polish with a pearl finish. i tried to do thin coats, but ended up with bubbling anyway, and some brushstrokes. i actually this color a lot, but the formula was beyond me. so one thumb down, one thumb up.
wild orchid reminds me a bit of pixie dust by orly, but a bit darker and almost smokey.  almost-blue lavender-ish gray with a wave of blue/silver iridescence.  this is two coats of fanciful lovely :)
awww lovely cremes :) this shiny baby is called positively posh.  it's a brown mushroomy taupe with a hint of purple. la la love these types of colors!  just like minty greens, i think i might have to own them all haha!  i did two thin coats, but three might have been better with this slightly watery polish.
soft as cashmere looked to die for in the promo photos i saw and it did not disappoint when i finally got it on my tips!  a gorgeous greige (grey, beige) and do i detect a tinge of green?  it has about the same watery texture as posh so it would probably look best with three coats, but this is two :)
nothing but truffle is probably my favorite out of the entire collection.  it's one of the glowy, burns from within colors that i love, but it has a hidden gold sparkle shimmer that just blew me away.  it's a deep chocolate brown that is so intense and mesmerizing that i just can't say enough about it!
jewel of a girl is another glow-from-within shimmery number and i totes love this one too. this is a beautiful luxe burgundy red color that has a hint of purple in it at certain angles. j'adore :)
ready to royal is an almost black dark purple "eggplant" shade that is a creme jelly, not quite a jelly but not quite a creme. essie does creme jellys a lot and come to think of it, this reminds me of an essie, velvet voyeur anyone? i quite like this, it's very vampy. opi's william tell me about opi is also very similar, and i probably like that one the best out of the three, but this is a very affordable alternative.
*phew* i am very happy to show you these swatches :) thanks for looking and tell me what you think about these!

essie resort collection

here are some pictures i got of the pretty pretty resort collection essie did earlier this summer. a blue and a green? miss essie dear are you ill?? whatever bug she's caught i hope she keeps it up, i'm loving the colors she's chosen! i borrowed these colors from my wonderful sister clarrisa, but i wish i would've gotten my mitts on them myself. i ended up liking them a LOT more than i thought i would!
lapis of luxury is a gorgeous soft cornflower blue that absolutely shone with my skin tone. i was not expecting to love this one, but i just can't deny the beautiful color this girl has. it's a very unique color, not quite periwinkle, not quite sky blue, not quite watery blue.  this one was a tad streaky but evened out just right by the third coat.

splash of grenadine was another one in the collection that i was not expecting to like that much, but was pleasantly surprised by. the berry pink has lots of purple in it and has a little bit of a dusty quality to it that is super nice and makes it stand out. grenadine it definitely is not though haha, i'd know that color anywhere ;) the formula on this one was a tad thick.  three coats on this guy.

playa de platinum means platinum beach, and is pronounced "ply-ya". but being the gangsta that i am, i decided to say it "play-a" de platinum (like a pimp ya know?). er..anyways the color is pretty awesome, although some folks definitely will turn up their nose at it. i definitely think this is a grey tone with a bit of tan hint, almost a "greige" but not quite. very cool and still warm? i dig it.

turquoise & caicos is the gorgeous greeny turquoise that had everyone buzzing about this collection before it came out. i am loving this! i happen to adore all the turquoise and minty greens out there right now (there are sure plenty) and this happens to sit right up there with the best of them.  three coats seems to be the magic number for this collection.

what is your favorite from this set? did you end up liking them more than you thought you would like me? or did they fall flat for you? i like this collection a lot more than the other summer collex she came out with later this summer (swatches coming soon!).
