KBShimmer Office Space Collection Swatches & Review

Hey folks, I'm here today to show you the next KBShimmer collection coming soon in January, the Office Space collection! “Sometimes you want to be a bit naughty, but stay within the professional lines. The Office Space collection consists of eight naughty and neutral shade ideas for the office. These shades add a pop of color and sparkle to your nails, while still keeping the boss happy." My job doesn't discriminate against any nail polish colors, thank goodness, but if they did, these colors would be a revelation!

Take Back CTRL is a dusty rose mauve crème. Leans purple but is on the border of the pink family I think. Excellent formula, buttery and smooth. Opaque in two coats.
KBShimmer Take Back CTRL

A Hint Of Manila is in the famous KBShimmer mega flame finish, this has a light tan base loaded with tons of holographic sparkle. A touch thick but not difficult to apply. This is two coats. Dries with a glitter texture so you'll want a thick layer of top coat or two for a smooth finish.
KBShimmer A Hint Of Manila

Staple Relationship is a deepened gray with slight purple undertones full of metallic silver flakes and holographic sparkle. This is in the KBShimmer birthstone finish, a favorite of mine. Super opaque, a one coater! I used two anyway though. The flakies dry flat so there is no texture to this one.
KBShimmer Staple Relationship

Caught On Tape is a pale pink mauve crème. This is simple and pretty, really classic. Lovely formula, really excellent for such a light color! And quite opaque, I only needed two coats.
KBShimmer Caught On Tape

Fax Of Life is a dark platinum grey linear holographic shade. I was pretty floored at how opaque this guy was, almost a one coater but I used two for 100% coverage. Easy and breezy and great!
KBShimmer Fax Of Life

Supplies Party has a warm vanilla cream base loaded with metallic flakes and holographic sparkle. Another birthstone finish shade with a great formula. An unexpected favorite, two coats.
KBShimmer Supplies Party

Cubicle Pusher is a muted dusty grape holographic. Great formula, just a little on the thinner side. I used three coats here but you could probably get away with just two, I think I was being cautious haha.
KBShimmer Cubicle Pusher

Makin’ Copies is a pale silver filled with white shimmer and holographic pigment. The holo in this is subtle, but it's definitely there. A bit more sheer, but being an almost white, that isn't really unexpected. I used three coats here.
KBShimmer Makin' Copies

This collection will launch on Wednesday, January 4th on the KBShimmer website. The polishes will sell for $9.25 each. For international folks, check out Harlow & Co., though I'm not sure what date they will be available there. Let me know what you think about these neutral beauties!

Takko Lacquer Fall 2016 Collection [Partial] Swatches & Review

Hello dear friend of mine! How was/has been your holiday season this year so far? I literally cannot fathom how this is the last week of the year, it's so nutty to me. But out with the old, in with new I guess! Today I have some shimmers and glitters from indie brand Takko Lacquer's Fall 2016 collection to show you. I got these a bit late so pardon my tardiness, however there are a few restocks coming up if you're itching to get some. Let's take a look!

Winter Succulents is a cool, dusty sage green crème filled with gold micro flecks and actual silver dust. This leaves me breathless, so gorgeous and dainty and perfect for any time of year. Great, easy to apply formula, very opaque. I used two coats here.
Takko Lacquer Winter Succulents

Boyfriend Jeans is just like a deep dark pair of denim blue jeans, complimented with coppery red iridescent shimmer. Stunning and striking! This is two coats. Dries dull so you'll want a shiny top coat.
Takko Lacquer Boyfriend Jeans

Stoned was created to look like crushed marble quartz, it has a very light beige-grey base filled with black and gold micro flakies and a ton of golden shimmer flecks. This is another excellent polish, goes on like a dream and I got full coverage in two coats. The finish is dull and just the teensiest bit gritty upon dry down, but a top coat gives it a jolt of shine and smoothness.
Takko Lacquer Stoned

Queen Of Hearts is a cherry red jelly filled with a generous helping of different sizes of translucent gold flakies. Surprisingly not difficult, sometimes jellies like this filled with chunky accents can be, well...chunky, but this was just fine. A touch thick maybe, but very easy to handle. I used two coats. This looks darker indoors, but the sun kinda shines through the jelly to give it an inner glow.
Takko Lacquer Queen of Hearts

Starships is a greyed silver duochrome polish that flips to bright green and then to warm brownish copper, filled with holographic flakes to give a galaxy-esque look. Another great formula, went on effortlessly and opaque in two coats.
Takko Lacquer Starships

I had to give you a shade photo too, to show the duochrome better. I really love this!
Takko Lacquer Starships

Mariposa is a hearty pumpkin orange filled with golden shimmer and gold and pink glimmering flecks. This totally reminds me of Rescue Beauty Lounge NailsandNoms, only that one has blue shimmer and is a slightly more vibrant orange. Really nice formula, glides on the nail with ease. Very good coverage, you could almost get away with one coat, but I used two.
Takko Lacquer Mariposa

Narwhals is an icy periwinkle blue crème filled with tiny silver micro flakies. This was super buttery and crazy opaque! A one coater, but I did two like usual. The name of this makes me happy, so cute!
Takko Lacquer Narwhals

Merbunny is a sweet porcelain baby pink jelly filled with iridescent green and gold flakies. This can be built up on it's own or layered over darker colors for a different look. This one was on the thicker side but sheer. It was a touch streaky on two coats and my nail line was still visible, so I did three. I adore the look of the finished color, very princess-like.
Takko Lacquer Merbunny

You can purchase their products on the Takko Lacquer website; these are sold out now but will be restocked sometime in January. They range in price from $12-13 each. They will also be restocked at Color4Nails in January, no exact date yet. Let me know what you think of these shades! My favorite has to be Winter Succulents, but I really enjoyed them all! This may be my favorite group of Takkos I've tried from them yet!

My Picks from the Essie Fall 2016 Collection Swatches & Review

So I showed you the Essie Winter 2016 collection a little while ago and today I thought I'd share my picks from the Essie Fall 2016 collection. This is a six piece collection inspired by Japan, though I'm not sure the exact name. I've seen it called the Fall Into Japanese collection and also Kimono-Over. Either way, I bought four of the shades that tickled my fancy.

Udon Know Me is a dusty stone blue crème. This is thick but nice to apply. I did end up using three coats, it still looked a tad streaky to me on two. I'm obsessed with this color.
Essie Udon Know Me

Go Go Geisha is a pale muted pink crème. This was just as thick as Udon, but covered evenly on two coats. I realized after I bought this it's a dupe for Zoya's Brittany, one of my favorite shades from 2015, but that one has a "satin" finish while this dries shiny.
Essie Go Go Geisha

Now And Zen is a subdued grey crème. Another thick formula, but easy to apply and opaque in two coats. I can't resist colors like this, they are must haves for me.
Essie Now and Zen

Playing Koi is a medium/deep rust orange. This has more of a jelly crème formula, it took me three coats to get a non-streaky, opaque finish but I didn't mind because it ends up looking so juicy! Dries a bit darker than it looks in the bottle. A great pumpkin-y fall color.
Essie Playing Koi

The two colors I didn't pick up from the collection are Kimono-Over, a purple jelly crème, and Maki Me Happy, a deep crimson berry jelly crème. This collection should probably still be in most stores still. Essie is sold in Ulta and in most drugstores like CVS and Walmart and on Essie.com. I purchased mine from Transdesign.com. Did you pick any colors up from the Fall collection?

Moo Moo's Signatures Fantasy Wonderland Collection Swatches & Review

Hello again! Today I've got a new collection from Moo Moo's Signatures, a Singapore based indie brand. This is a six piece color set called Fantasy Wonderland, a lovely winter array of a variety of colors and finishes. Let's check 'em out!

Ballerina Moo is a pale putty color with subtle holographic particles and shifting shimmer with tiny flakies that flex from pink/gold to turquoise. This was a tad sheer and streaky on the first two coats, I used three here to build it up to opacity.
Moo Moo's Signatures Ballerina Moo

Garden of Eden is a dark forest green metallic with tons of scattered holographic particles, tiny green flakies and shimmer. This went on easily and covered in two coats.
Moo Moo's Signatures Garden of Eden

Gold Reindeer is a blend of gold shimmer, gold flakies, gold holo dust with tiny pink flakies. This is sheer enough to be a layering shade too, I bet it would look great over a black crème. This formula was a bit runny, I used three coats.
Moo Moo's Signatures Gold Reindeer

Devil Bunny in the House is a teal holographic with added pink shimmer and tiny red flakies. This applied like a dream. Two coats here.
Moo Moo's Signatures Devil Bunny in the House

Bubble Bath is a blush pink holographic with gold shimmer. I found this to be a tad streaky on the first two layers, but it evened out nicely on three. This is soft and oh so feminine!
Moo Moo's Signatures Bubble Bath

Fantasy Labyrinth is a limited edition shade, a greyed blurple with mauve shimmer, tiny pink and green flakies, blue to green chrome flakies, sapphire and pink holo sparkles, and tiny blue flakies. This is chock full o' flakies! A real stunner, great formula, opaque in two coats.
Moo Moo's Signatures Fantasy Labyrinth

This collection will go on sale on November 21st at 11 am EST (Nov. 22 at 12 am SGT) on the Moo Moo's Signatures website. They will sell for SGD18 each, except for Gold Reindeer which will be SGD16 per bottle. Let me know what you think of this winter collection! Any colors catch your fancy?

Illyrian Polish Returning Shades Swatches & Review

Hi folks! Today I have some shades from indie brand Illyrian Polish to show you. These aren't from one particular collection, just a few returning shades that are being restocked this Friday. On to the swatches!

Fabled is a magenta purple jelly with turquoise & green shimmer and violet and purple/green micro flakes. This has a nice, thin formula. I used three coats here for full opacity. These all dry on the dull side so you'll probably want a top coat for shine.
Illyrian Polish Fabled

Gold Lion is a deep, dark gray with copper metallic flake shimmer. Great formula, almost a one coater! I love the glow of the copper in this. Two coats here.
Illyrian Polish Gold Lion

Awaken Your Magic has a lilac purple jelly base with copper/pink shimmer and holographic silver microglitter. Maybe it's the name, but this one reminds me of a fortune teller for some reason haha. Easy peasy formula, opaque in two coats.
Illyrian Polish Awaken Your Magic

Killer Queen has a bold red raspberry jelly base filled with magenta holographic microglitter. Nice formula, dries semi-gritty, which is normal for a microglitter. A thick top coat should cover the texture easily. I used three coats.
Illyrian Polish Killer Queen

Bioluminescent is a medium/dark fuchsia jelly with a strong blue shimmer giving it an overall purple loo. This is seriously gorgeous, so vivid. A little thin but very easy to polish with. It deepens on each coat, so depending on the look you want, I'd recommend 2-3 coats. I did three here.
Illyrian Polish Bioluminescent

These shades, along with their Fall 2016 Stranger Things collection, will all be available on the Illyrian Polish website this Friday, Nov. 11th at 6pm CST. Any of these shades catch your eye? I'm obsessed with Bioluminescent, and Gold Lion is so my style! What are you planning to pick up from Illyrian tomorrow?

Illyrian Polish Fall 2016 Stranger Things Collection Swatches & Review

I'm back today with a great collection for Fall from indie brand Illyrian Polish inspired by Stranger Things. So...have you seen Stranger Things?? It's a Netflix produced show, a sleeper hit and I'm totally in love with it. It's a must see if you like creepy thriller dramas. It's set in the early 80's and has some excellent child actors, and it's easy to binge watch. I've already seen season 1 twice and am eagerly anticipating season 2. This collection has five polishes that totally embody the show's aesthetic. I purchased two of them, and then was asked to review the full collection which I am excited to be able to show you today.

Eleven is a purple-y berry jelly with red to green color-shifting iridescent glitter and a scattering of holographic pigment. This is a little thick but not difficult to apply. I used three coats here but you could get away with two for a more translucent look, or layer it over an opaque base color. This didn't dry as gritty as I was anticipating, I only needed one layer of a thick top coat for a smooth finish. See those shifty glitters on the side of the bottle?? Yeah, so dope.
Illyrian Polish Eleven

Mouth Breather is a dark teal blue with violet shimmer. This seemed a bit thick to me at first too, but it applied fine, no problems. This dries down dull, so you'll want a glossy top coat for shine.
Illyrian Polish Mouth Breather

I'm The Monster has a murky green base with purple/pink micro shimmer flecks. Another formula I found to be a little thick and dries kinda flat, similar to Mouth Breather, but this was not as opaque, presumably to allow the shimmer to take center stage. I used three coats here. Swampy perfection!
Illyrian Polish I'm The Monster

The Upside Down is a glitter bomb with a greyed purple tinted sheer base with lavender & silver holographic glitter and copper-to-green shifting iridescent glitter. This is amazing, it applied almost like a regular polish and covered completely in two coats. Not what I was expecting by such a dazzling, dense glitter polish! And again, this doesn't dry super textured so I only needed one layer of a thick top coat. Impressive!
Illyrian Polish The Upside Down

Demogorgon is a blackened indigo blue with orange/yellow shimmer and small iridescent purple flakes. This too was viscous, which I'm starting to think is the norm for this brand, but I'm not complaining because they applied really nicely for me. This is two coats.
Illyrian Polish Demogorgon

This collection will be restocked on the Illyrian Polish website on Friday November 11th at 6pm CST (along with some other shades that I will be showing you soon). I purchased Eleven and Demogorgon for $10.75 each and the other shades were sent to me for review. You can see more photos on their Facebook page and Instagram. Let me know what you think of these shades! Are you a Stranger Things fan??

GlitterDaze Moon Baby Collection Swatches & Review

I have the latest collection from GlitterDaze to show you today, the Moon Baby collection! I've always considered myself more of a "moon" than a "sun" if you know what I mean, so these already had me intrigued when I heard the name. There are six ultra holographics in lightly toned spacey colors in this set. They all have the same formula, slightly thick but not difficult to apply if you don't overload your brush. I used two coats for all the swatches here.

Amaris is a lavender toned pink linear holographic with a gold to green shifting iridescent base.
GlitterDaze Amaris

Crescent is a light blue linear holographic with a lavender to blue shifting iridescent base.
GlitterDaze Crescent

Eclipse is a smoky grey linear holographic with a lavender to gold shifting iridescent base.
GlitterDaze Eclipse

Luna is a lilac linear holographic with a pink to orange shifting base.
GlitterDaze Luna

Moonbeam is a neutral silvery taupe linear holographic with a lavender to blue shifting iridescent base.
GlitterDaze Moonbeam

Starlit is a mint green linear holographic with a pink to orange shifting base.
GlitterDaze Starlit

This collection is available now for $12.50 individually on the GlitterDaze website. What do you think of these ultra holos? I am refreshed by the soft colors with all the deeper shades we've had coming out with the fall season. My favorite is Starlit but they're all gorgeous! Are you a "moon baby"?

Potion Polish Fall 2016 Hoodies & Hayrides Collection Swatches & Review

I'm back with another fall/halloween-ish collection, this time from indie brand Potion Polish! The Hoodies & Hayrides collection for fall 2016 is a seven piece set featuring some shades from their last year's fall and Halloween collections, revamped with updated formulas. Let's have a look! And please stay tuned until the end of the post for a special surprise!

First Frost is a warm grey crelly with red/copper duochrome shimmer. This applied nicely, it was a bit sheer on the first coat, which necessitated three layers. I'm in love with this, reminds me of sunset on a grey, cloudy day.
Potion Polish First Frost

Costume Party is a witchy black jelly with purple shimmer and a pinch of green-gold glitter. This is a returning shade from last year's Halloween quartet. Sure to be a hit again, this is very Halloween-esque. I also needed three coats for this guy for full coverage.
Potion Polish Costume Party

Pumpkin All The Things is a smoldering red-orange holographic with a sprinkle of gold holo glitter added. This guy practically applied itself, such a great formula. Two coats.
Potion Polish Pumpkin All The Things

Dark Magic is an ultra vampy midnight purple packed with delicate holographic flakes. A more opaque jelly, this one covered in just two coats. I love that we're seeing more polishes made with holo flakes, which I am head over heels for!
Potion Polish Dark Magic

Harvest Moon is a multichrome that shifts between red, copper, gold and olive green and is packed with gold holo microglitter. Another excellent formula, opaque in two coats.
Potion Polish Harvest Moon

I included an indirect light shot to show how dramatically this one shifts.
Potion Polish Harvest Moon

Poltergeist Heist is another returning shade from last year's Halloween set, a violet purple jelly with iridescent orange and purple glitter, scattered holo and a blue/red shifty shimmer. I used my bottle from last year for this swatch, but I am told the new formula is better and opaque in 2-3 coats. I used three here.
Potion Polish Poltergeist Heist

Marvelous Maple is a rich autumnal gold holographic with gold glitter and gold micro flakes. This was super close to being opaque in two but I layered on one more. Great, easy to use formula.
Potion Polish Marvelous Maple

These are available now on the Potion Polish website for $10.00-$11.50 each. What do you think about this sparkly fall collection?

As a special treat, I wanted to give away two new bottles of Costume Party and Poltergeist Heist, as these are the colors from this collection that I already had last year's versions of. Please enter to win by filling out the form below. Ages 18 and up only, US only (sorry international folks!), ends on Oct. 17th. Please read all the rules and regulations before entering.
