Pretty Serious Cosmetics Naileontology Collection Vol. 3 Swatches & Review

I'm back today with more pretties from Australian indie brand Pretty Serious Cosmetics! These three shades are a new installment of their Museum of Naileontology series, an ongoing collection of re-imagined shades inspired by vintage classics. These three lacquers came out around last Halloween, but they don't necessarily have to be only for that season, though one might be more seasonal looking than the others haha. Let's take a look :)

images via www.pretty-serious.com

Baphomet's Berserker is an opaque black jelly polish filled with iridescent small roundish hex glitters. They flex through a few colors, blue, orange, green, aqua, so pretty! This seemed chunky on the brush, and was thicker than I expected, but it was surprisingly not difficult for me to get even and opaque on the nail. Two coats here for full coverage.
Pretty Serious Cosmetics Baphomet's Berserker

Fossil of the Death Worm has a clear base filled with super small microglitter in black and slightly larger metallic orange microglitter as well as some strings of orange. I've heard this is possible to get almost full coverage on the nail, but you'd probably have to do 4 coats or use the sponging application technique. (If you want to see this on it's own, Serenity Nails has a swatch of it here.) This is two coats over Pretty Serious' black crème Absence. The bar glitter had unfortunately curled up, I call this "taco-ing", but they were pretty few and far between so I didn't have too much trouble with them but it's worth noting.
Pretty Serious Cosmetics Fossil Of The Death Worm

The Singing Seed is a combination of grass green and small gold hex glitter and some yellow gold bar glitters in a clear base. I think there might be some black microglitter in this mix too, which I only saw while editing my picture in super zoom. This seems like it would be easier to get opaque by itself than the other glitter, but again I chose to layer it. This is one generous coat over Pretty Serious' dark green crème Darkling Squishy. The bars in this one seem a little thicker and were fortunately not curled at all. Pretty easy to spread with good coverage!
Pretty Serious Cosmetics The Singing Seed

These are available now on the Pretty Serious website for $9.95 AUD (conversion chart for other currencies available on the website). You can also purchase them on Canadian stockist Harlow & Co. I do like these three shades, but this might be my least favorite episode of the Naileontology series so far. I have high hopes for the next one, because Pretty Serious is such a fantastic and creative brand. What do you think??

Pretty Serious Cosmetics Goth Pet Names Collection Swatches & Review

Hey cookies! Today I have the second installment of the Pretty Serious Cosmetics "Well Meaning But Ultimately Quite Awkward Pet Names" collection! These four crèmes are the "goth" pet name shades that came out for the Halloween season, but they work for any time of year of course. If you missed the first part of this collection which came out a few months ago, check them out here. Let's take a peek at the new colors!

Gloomy Kitty is a wine berry crème. This formula is really excellent, almost a one coater. I used two here for complete coverage. I adore this shade, not quite an oxblood but more of a warm purple.
Pretty Serious Gloomy Kitty

Baron Von Bootiful is a slate grey teal crème. Another amazing formula, this was totally perfect in just one coat! A unique shade too, glad to have it!
Pretty Serious Cosmetics Baron Von Bootiful

Pumpkin Head is a bright squash colored orange crème. Even though this is almost a neon, and a notoriously streaky type of shade, it applied beautifully! Perhaps a tad thick but not in a bad way, it made it easier to put on. Although to totally cover my nail line, I used three coats. I've heard most others are getting it opaque in two though. Dries matte so use a top coat for shine.
Pretty Serious Cosmetics Pumpkin Head

Darkling Squishy is a deep green crème. Perfection, same type of formula as Gloomy Kitty, almost opaque in one but completely there on two. Stunning staple shade, you need it! The name of this one always reminds me of Darkwing Duck when I say it out loud haha.
Pretty Serious Cosmetics Darkling Squishy

These are available now on the Pretty Serious website for $9.95 AUD (conversion chart on the website for other currencies). They are based in Australia, but they have a shipping warehouse in the US so shipping is cheaper for us in the States. Also, they always have free shipping for orders in Australia, USA, & Canada over $50 AUD (translating into around $37 USD!) and free shipping worldwide for orders over $100.  Let me know what you think about these colors! I will be back with another Pretty Serious post soon, the three new Naileontology shades! Have a great day!

China Glaze Halloween 2015 Ghouls' Night Out Collection Swatches & Review

Ghouls' Night Out is the name of the China Glaze Halloween collection for this year. I had wanted to show this to you, ya know, before Halloween...but it didn't work out that way haha! I was waiting for a while before I purchased it in case I got it from their PR, but it got closer and closer to the end of the month, so I figured I better pick it up or risk missing out on it altogether. I ended up buying these from an e-tailer and they just barely got to me so I didn't have time to swatch them before the big day. :( Oh well, let's look at them anyway!

Image via ChinaGlaze.com

Lady and the Vamp is a neon orange jelly. I have a few polishes that are close to this, but I wanted to pick up the full collection. You never know what's going to knock your socks off after all. It had an ok formula, easy to apply and not too thick or thin, but I still had some streaking with two coats. I needed three to cover completely.
China Glaze Lady and the Vamp

Something's Brewing is a glitter topper in a clear base, it has different sizes of matte hex glitters in black and honeydew green. I layered one coat over Lady and the Vamp. This has excellent glitter pay off and while I had to do some manipulation to get the glitters where I wanted them, it wasn't difficult at all. I also like that it wasn't base heavy, so it wasn't thick on the nail when it dried.
China Glaze Something's Brewing

Drink Up Witches is a neon green jelly. Again, I have similar polishes to this, but I love the name so much that I had to get this one too. It has the same formula as the orange, but I used thicker coats on this so I got it opaque in two coats. You may need three depending on your application style, because there was still a hint of streaking.
China Glaze Drink Up Witches

Cackle If You Want To is a glitter topper like Something's Brewing, except it's in an indigo purple. The purple glitters are striped, not sure if that was intentional or not (as I've had this happen with indie glitters before and it wasn't intentional haha). Either way I like the effect because it makes them look like striped witch stockings! One coat over Drink Up Witches, same great formula as the other glitter.
China Glaze Cackle If You Want To

Looking Bootiful is a bright purple jelly. Another non-unique color, and I kinda wish I hadn't gotten this one. It was very sheer and runny. I put on three coats and you can still kind of see through it, but I didn't want to do four coats. Boo!
China Glaze Looking Bootiful

Ghostess With the Mostess is a mix of the other glitter colors with the addition of pale orange hexes. I love these colors and how they've got a bleached look, unexpected! I layered one coat over Looking Bootiful. Excellent formula, very glitter dense. And unique as hell!
China Glaze Ghostess With the Mostess

I am so glad I picked up the glitters in this collection, but if I had to do it again I would definitely pass on the solid colors. I can pick out a few dupes from my own stash for each of them and their formulas leave a lot to be desired. You can probably still find these in Sally Beauty Supply stores and definitely still online. I bought mine on Transdesign.com. Did you get any of these polishes? How was your Halloween??

GlitterDaze Halloween 2015 The Witching Hour Collection Swatches & Review

Happy Halloween all you spooks and kooks! I have a wonderful Halloween trio to show you today from indie brand GlitterDaze. These glittery shades are inspired and named after famous witches. I myself am a rather witchy woman so I am fully on board with this theme!

Bellatrix has a black jelly base that is full of holographic shimmer, magenta microglitter, and iridescent shimmer that twinkles out rainbows. This was almost fully opaque on two coats, but there were a few uneven spots so I layered on a third. This polish is named for super evil witch Bellatrix Lestrange from the Harry Potter books/movies, and I hate her! But I love this polish. :)
GlitterDaze Bellatrix

The Sanderson Sisters is a warm toned medium purple jelly with holographic shimmer, magenta micro glitter, and bronze multichrome metallic flakies. Lovely formula, great coverage and easy to control. Two coats. However, I wore this for a full manicure with just a peel-off base coat and I had some pink staining on my nail beds after I took it off, so double up on your base coat! Named for the trio of witch sisters from the quintessential childhood Halloween movie, Hocus Pocus!
GlitterDaze The Sanderson Sisters

The Wicked Witch of the West is a deep teal jelly with multi-dimensional holographic shimmer and bronze/green multichrome metallic flakies. This had the same type of formula as The Sanderson Sisters, maybe a touch less opaque, but I still only needed two coats. This is of course named for the green witch from the Wizard of Oz. That movie gives me the creeps haha!
GlitterDaze The Wicked Witch of the West

All of these dry dull with a slightly bumpy texture, so use a thick top coat for a smooth, glossy finish. These are on sale now for $12 each on the GlitterDaze website. Are you doing anything especially exciting for this Halloween night? What is on your nails today?? Be safe and have fun tonight everyone!

Glam Polish Halloween 2015 Trio Collection Swatches & Review

Good day to you fine friends! I have an excellent new Halloween collection to show you today from Glam Polish! They put out a limited edition trio of holographic glitters for the Halloween season and I could not resist buying them!

Fall'n For You! has a silver holographic glitter base with holographic silver microglitter and glitters in orange, gold, copper and rose-gold. Insane! Epic! So perfect for autumn! It was really easy to apply, like all Glam Polishes, and was opaque in two coats. I am speechless, this is a stare-at-your-nails-all-day kinda polish!
Glam Polish Fall'n For You!

Which Witch? is the same type of polish as Fall'n but with holographic glitters in shades of purple, some blues and a touch of pink in a silver holo base. Another mind-blowing shade with a really great formula! Two coats here too.
Glam Polish Which Witch?

Frankenslime 2015 is the new version of the Glam Polish Frankenslime shade that they have re-created and slightly tweaked a few times over the years. You may remember me swatching the 2014 version for you here. This has a cool, bright, blue-toned green crelly base with holographic microshimmer, violet, teal green, neon green and holographic glitter. This went on effortlessly and covered completely in two coats.
Glam Polish Frankenslime 2015

Here is a comparison between Frankenslime 2014 and the new one. 2015 is on my pointer and ring fingers, and 2014 is on my middle and pinky nails. 2014 doesn't seem to have as much glitter as 2015, is missing the teal green holographic glitter hexes, and is maybe a shade deeper. I wasn't sold on getting the 2015 version of this at first, but I am so glad that I did because they're obviously completely different ;)
Glam Polish Frankenslime 2014 vs. 2015

These all dry with a slight texture due to the densely packed glitter so use a top coat for a smooth finish. I purchased the trio from the Glam Polish website for $33. You can also buy them individually at $11. I'm seriously blown away by these, they might be some of my favorite Glams ever, and you know I have an obsession with this brand! Which would you pick? Or are you like me and need all three??

Pretty Jelly Halloween 2015 Collection Swatches & Review

Hello again, hello :) I cannot get my fill of Halloween collections this year, and so I've got another one to share with you all today! They are from indie brand Pretty Jelly, created by blogger Liz from Liquid Jelly. I have followed her blog for years and always had serious nail envy for her gorgeous digits, so I am way happy for the success of her nail polish brand! Let's check out the goods shall we?

I See Dead People is a black linear holographic with strong red shimmer that was inspired by the movie poster for thriller "The Sixth Sense". That movie still gives me chills when I think about certain scenes, I love it! This polish was nice and opaque, I used two coats here. It has a great formula, but the brush on these is a little big and slightly flared out at the ends so I had to take care in my application. They dry a bit dull so I used top coat for a glossy finish on all of these.
Pretty Jelly I See Dead People

Here's Johnny! is a bloody red linear holographic inspired by the color of Jack's red jacket from horror movie "The Shining". I think I have seen that movie at least 50 times and have read the book about 10. Yes, you may gasp if you'd like. ;) This one had a more jelly type base, but was still opaque in two coats.
Pretty Jelly Here's Johnny!

Pumpkin Carousel has a black jelly base with orange, green, purple, and teal holographic glitters as well as shimmery gold glitters that shift green. This was a pleasant glitter to apply, very easy. It has a thin base, but it builds up quickly, becoming opaque in two coats. To me this looked kind of simple in the bottle at first glance, but on the nail it turns quite complex with all the different colors of glitter. Dries with a slight amount of bumpiness from the glitter.
Pretty Jelly Pumpkin Carousel

They're Here is a pale blue linear holo with added blue shimmer. This one was inspired by the eerie glow of the TV screen from the scary movie "Poltergeist". That movie scares me so much still, and I'm a horror/thriller movie junkie! Maybe because I first saw it as a child and it stuck with me. This seemed to be more sheer on the first coat but was completely opaque in two as well. The holo "fire" seemed really strong on this one.
Pretty Jelly They're Here

Werewolf Tricks is made up of vampy red-orange metallic flakes in a deep jelly base with bronze and gold holographic glitters. There is also a purple flash in there somewhere. I wasn't sure how this would look on the nail by seeing it in the bottle, so I was kind of blown away by it when I put it on! Two easy coats.
Pretty Jelly Werewolf Tricks

You can buy these now at the Pretty Jelly Etsy store. The glitters are $10 each and the holos are $12. I am loving indie collections this year and these are some really fun shades for the Fall season and Halloween in particular. What do you think?

Potion Polish Halloween 2015 Collection Swatches & Review

Hey friends! I'm back today with another Halloween collection, this time from indie brand Potion Polish! This is a new-to-me brand and I was definitely not disappointed with my first shades from them. Let's see the pretties!

Pumpkin Fizzy is a bright orange jelly packed with orange holographic glitter in various sizes, gold micro flakies and a hint of holographic dust. I found this easy to apply and I was able to get a good amount of glitter out without trying. This is a very pigmented shade and the brand warns that it may stain, but I didn't have any issues. Two coats.
Potion Polish Pumpkin Fizzy

Costume Party is a witchy deep black jelly polish that has a great gorgeous eggplant purple shimmer and some sprinkles of green-gold holographic glitter bits. This was thin on the first coat, but was completely opaque in two coats. I love the metallic shimmer in this, it seems like a galaxy inside the jelly!
Potion Polish Costume Party

Warts n' All is a fantastic matte chartreuse glitter in a glowing holographic base with pea green holo glitter and gold micro flakies. This also went on very easily with a lot of glitter payoff. This shade reminds me of a crazy glittery pickle! I am so in love with this, I think I may be wearing it on Halloween this year! Another shade that Potion Polish warns can possibly stain so double up on your base coat just in case. I used two coats.
Potion Polish Warts n' All

Poltergeist Heist is a fiery violet purple jelly with iridescent orange glitter, scattered holographic bits, purple metallic and holo glitter in various sizes with an elsuive ghostly blue shimmer. Whew, this polish is complex! It's a little thick, could get gummy if you use too heavy of a layer. I used three thin coats here.
Potion Polish Poltergeist Heist

All of these did have a distinct kind of chemical smell, similar to but not nearly as strong or offensive as Kleancolor polishes. I have two more shades from this brand to try and they do not have the smell, so it might be just this batch. I enjoy the bottle shape and size they use, it's very close to the Nine Zero Lacquer bottle type. The brush was nice and wide but not too thick or thin. They are in 12mL bottles which is just slightly smaller than mainstream brands like OPI which are 15mL.

These are available now on the Potion Polish website for $9 each or $32 for the set of four. Tell me what you think about these gorgeous spooky shades! What are you wearing on your nails this Halloween??

Nine Zero Lacquer Halloween 2015 Trio Swatches & Review

Hey there! Today I have the Halloween trio from Nine Zero Lacquer to show you! I am so happy they came out with Halloween polishes, I wasn't sure there would be another collection so soon from them since they are a very new brand. These shades are excellent and perfect for the upcoming holiday!

Holo-ween is a holographic orange microglitter in an orange jelly base. The first coat is pretty sheer, so I was stoked to see how opaque it got on the second coat. Yup, this is only two coats and it's not overly thick which was really nice. Crazy blingy. Dries texture so I used two coats of top coat for a glassy surface.
Nine Zero Lacquer Holo-ween

Swamp Thing is a slime green jelly with tons of awesome gold shimmer flakes that meld into each other. This is an excellent polish, it has great coverage and was opaque in two coats. Dries slightly dull so use a top coat for maximum impact. This color really wowed me, it makes me think of amphibian skin or something and I love it.
Nine Zero Lacquer Swamp Thing

Candy Pillowcase is a really opaque white crelly, with various sizes of orange, red, yellow, green and black matte glitters in hexes, dots, and bars. The name of this cracks me up, I always used a pillowcase for trick or treating when I was a kiddo. Two coats with this guy, pretty easy application with nice glitter payoff.
Nine Zero Lacquer Candy Pillowcase

The pre-sale for this trio has already ended, but they will be available on the Nine Zero Lacquer website on Friday, 10/9 at 11am EST for $9 each or $24.50 for the set of three. Tell me what you think about these three Halloween babies! I am head over heels!

Different Dimension Halloween 2015 Anomalous-Phenomenon Collection Swatches & Review

Hiiii friends! How is your October going? Mine is going swell because I have another Halloween collection to share with you today! Indie brand Different Dimension has put out a six shade collection for the season called Anomalous-Phenomenon, which means "that which is not sufficiently explained by science or inferred knowledge". This collection is "dedicated to those who are always on the hunt for the unknown," which totally describes me! I am a firm believer in science and logic, but there's always more we don't know about the universe, amirite??

EMF (which stands for electromagnetic field) is a dark red jelly polish with holographic microglitter. The jelly mostly overtakes the glitter and gives us a deep look with some sparkly bits popping out, a red galaxy! This was on the thicker side but I found it a bit runny too. I would take care not to get too much on your brush and use thin coats. I used three.
Different Dimension EMF

Chasing Shadows is a dark violet jelly polish with holographic microglitter. This had a thinner formula than EMF, but was still a little runny. I only needed two coats on this one.
Different Dimension Chasing Shadows

Static Vision is a forest green jelly with holographic microglitter. This has a similar formula to EMF, thicker but a bit runny. This would be a great Halloween or Christmas polish in my opinion, love it! Three coats.
Different Dimension Static Vision

EVP (which stands for electronic voice phenomena) is a black jelly polish with holographic microglitter. This one was more thin and also a bit runny. It only required two coats for opacity though. I think this one dried a little grittier than the other, but one coat of top coat covered any texture completely.
Different Dimension EVP

Knock Once For Yes is a burnt orange (pumpkin spice!) with holographic microglitters. This one seemed the creamiest out of all the microglitters, maybe more of a crelly than a jelly base. Opaque on two coats.
Different Dimension Knock Once For Yes

Full Spectral is a white crelly polish with different sizes of hex and dot glitters in black, neon yellow, purple, orange, and green. I found the formula on this to be pretty easy going and typical of a glitter-full crelly, kinda sheer on the first coat but built up nicely in three thin coats.
Different Dimension Full Spectral

These are being released tonight, Friday, October 2nd at 9pm EST on the Different Dimension website. The microglitters are priced at $8.75 each while the crelly Full Spectral will be specially priced at $5! How do you like these spooky shades?? I'm in love with them all, but the red and orange are my favorites!

The All Holo's Eve 2015 Collaboration Trio - Cirque Colors, Lacquer Lust and Serum No. 5

Greetings dear friends! I know it's Monday again, but I have a feeling your week is going to be awesome! ;) I wanted to start off this week with a bang, showing you the new collaboration trio from indie brands Cirque Colors, Lacquer Lust and Serum No. 5 called All Holo's Eve! This limited edition gift set has three Halloween themed lacquers all with a sparkling holographic element.

Cirque Colors Coven is an indigo blurple jelly polish with an orange to green shimmer effect. This reminds me of their Kontiki collection, so if you missed out on those this one might quench your thirst for that finish. It's sheer on the 1st coat but builds up nicely. It's almost opaque on two coats but I used three for maximum coverage. Dries very shiny!
Cirque Colors Coven

Lacquer Lust Candy Corn and Unicorns is a silver holographic microglitter with metallic glitters in orange, yellow, white and black. This is quite the Halloween polish, it has traditional aspects but gives them a twist! It has a thicker consistency due to the dense glitter, but wasn't difficult to apply. I used two coats plus a shiny top coat.
Lacquer Lust Candy Corn and Unicorns

Serum No. 5 You're Boo-tiful is a mix of pink, purple, orange, and silver metallic glitters in varying sizes in a black jelly base. This glows in the dark, but I failed to get a good glow picture. It makes me sad, because this glows like whoa! A little thick, but pretty easy to manage. I applied three coats for full opacity. Dries matte and slightly textured due to the glow pigment so use a top coat for smoothness and shine.
Serum No. 5 You're Boo-tiful

This trio is launching on October 4th at all three brand's websites for $32. CirqueColors.com will launch at 12pm EST while SerumNo5.com and Lacquer-Lust.com will be launching at 12pm PST. What do you think? I think this is a fun and funky set that is perfect for the best season ever, Halloween!
