Potion Polish Dutchess Limited Edition Swatch & Review

Hi there friends! I've been a little under the weather, summer sickness is the worst eh? But I wanted to share this new Potion Polish color with you today. Dutchess is a limited edition shade, a muted vintage pink base with gold shimmer, pink/green/bronze chrome flakes and a soft holographic effect throughout. It pulled rather lavender with my skin tone but it's definitely a pink.

The formula of this was excellent, very easy to apply and creamy. Fully opaque in two coats. This limited edition color will be available on the Potion Polish website on August 12th at 11am EST for $11. What do you think of this girl? I'll see you again soon with more polish :)

Different Dimension Pretty Nauti Collection Swatches & Review

The Different Dimension Pretty Nauti collection is a nautical inspired bunch of eight polishes in different finishes. I love nautical design and was really pleased with the variety of the shades in this collection! Plus the names are honestly great haha.

Ship Happens is a white based crelly with added shimmer and hex glitters in blue and green. This applied really great for a glitter crelly, which sometimes can be tricky. I used two coats here and got full coverage.
Different Dimension Ship Happens

Bad Buoy is a navy blue jelly with added contrasting shimmers that shift from gold to green to pink. This is seriously gorgeous and surprisingly opaque! Only two coats here. Dries a tiny bit dull so you'll want a glossy top coat to bring out the shimmer.
Different Dimension Bad Buoy
Different Dimension Bad Buoy

Resting Beach Face is a pale silvery sea blue holographic polish with added shimmers. This applied easily and was opaque on two coats. Dries slightly dull so slap a top coat on there for maximum holo fire! The name of this one cracks me up!
Different Dimension Resting Beach Face

Knot On My Watch is a yellowy brown jelly with holographic flakies. This is one of those love it or hate it shades, very "ugly pretty". And guess what? I love it! This has a thin formula, but easy to apply. Dries very shiny. I used three coats here.
Different Dimension Knot On My Watch

Pier Pressure has a shimmery holographic base filled with silver holographic glitters mixed with colors reminiscent of broken sea glass. I found the formula on this to be extra good considering how finicky glitter bombs can be. The glitters were really easy to spread on the nail and I got full coverage in just two coats. Dries with a glitter texture so you'll need a thick top coat for a smooth finish.
Different Dimension Pier Pressure

Nauti Girl is a warm red jelly with added color shifting shimmers. This was way more opaque than I thought it would be, very impressive at two coats. I love how it still retains its juicy look even with full coverage!
Different Dimension Nauti Girl

Oh Shell No! is a nude jelly polish with shimmers, a pink flash, and holographic flakies. This was pretty thick, I had to apply it in thin coats for the best result. This is three coats but you may only need two. Has a bit of slight texture so I recommend a thick top coat.
Different Dimension Oh Shell No!

Boaty Call is a light teal-ish green linear holographic with subtle shimmer. This applied like a dream and had great coverage in two coats. Dries ever slightly dull so a top coat is a good idea. I'm obsessed with this color!
Different Dimension Boaty Call

This collection will be available to purchase on the Different Dimension website at 9pm EST today August 5th. They range in price from $8.75 to $12 each, with Ship Happens specially priced at $5. There will be special discount pricing on the full collection. They also have new cuticle oil scents, be sure to check those out! Let me know what you think of this collection! See any that look particularly lovely to you?

Girly Bits August 2016 Colour of the Month Duo Swatches & Review

Hi there! Today I have the new Colour of the Month shades from Canadian indie brand Girly Bits for the month of August. These shades are limited and only available in their release month. Last month's shades were to die for, so I was super stoked to be able to try out more!

Sun Dog is a light golden copper "shimmolo" (shimmer holographic) with bronze micro flakes and copper shimmer. This applied amazingly well, super buttery easy formula. Opaque in just two coats. Really stunning and sophisticated with a hint of bling!
Girly Bits Sun Dog

Dancing In The Moonlight is an über saturated mid tone blue low density holo with a pink flash and green shimmer. This has absolutely gallons of shimmer, which seemed to have sunk to the bottom of my bottle upon arrival. I let it sit upside down for a good half hour before I applied it and that did the trick. Good formula, not too thick or difficult to apply at all. Two coats here. No staining to report, which is lovely. This is much more complex looking in real life, it's a must have!
Girly Bits Dancing In The Moonlight

These two shades launch for pre-order on the Girly Bits website on August 6th through the 10th. They are $16.50 CAD each, or buy both for $31 CAD and save (only during pre-order). Anyone who misses out on the pre-order will have another chance to buy them starting August 24th, then they will be available until stock is gone or until the last day of the month, whichever is first. What do you think of this duo? I'm head over heels!

Frenzy Polish Hummingbird Hollow Collection Swatches & Review

Hey there! Today I have a collection from indie brand Frenzy Polish to show you, called Hummingbird Hollow. It's a seven piece collection inspired by the beauty of those little jewel-like birdies!

Purple-Backed Sunbeam is a deep eggplant-purple holographic with purple flash. I found it to be on the thicker side, but not difficult to apply. This was slightly metallic as well, which I think contributed to the thickness. This is two coats.
Frenzy Polish Purple-Backed Sunbeam

Trill-iant is a grey based bronze holographic with red to golden shifty shimmer. This one was also thick, but again applied fine and covered in two coats.
Frenzy Polish Trill-iant

Flit is a teal holographic with a yellow/green flash of shimmer. This applied well and had a nice middle of the road viscosity. It was a little tiny bit brushstrokey due to the metallic shimmer, but I don't think it shows too much when the polish dries. Two coats.
Frenzy Polish Flit

Sugar Baby is a orchid pink holographic with a subtle blue flash and blue/green multichrome flakies. This one was a tad thick but again, not difficult to use. This is two coats. I like this one a lot, but I wish it had more of those flakies. I feel like they get a little lost with the holo effect.
Frenzy Polish Sugar Baby

Sky Chaser is a rich, cool blue holographic. There is a subtle purple shift to this which makes it a tad shifty. Excellent formula, opaque in two coats.
Frenzy Polish Sky Chaser

Brilliant Blur is a bright metallic green holographic with a yellow gold shimmer flash and multichrome flakies. Thick formula again, but a good thick. The flakies in this were more prevalent than in the pink and I think they really give the polish that oomph! Two coats.
Frenzy Polish Brilliant Blur

Ruby Throated Rebel has a regal red base filled with scattered holographic effects, microglitter and multichrome flakies. This is a bit chunky because it has so many fabulous goodies in it, but applies pretty easily. Some of the larger flakie bits were sticking out a bit so I recommend a thick top coat for this one.
Frenzy Polish Ruby Throated Rebel

This collection will be released on Friday, July 29th at 7pm EST on the Frenzy Polish website. The individual bottles are priced at $9.50 with the entire collection selling for $65. I've been told that the owner of Frenzy Polish is taking a break after this collection, so we probably won't see anything new from them for a few months. What do you think of these flights of fancy? My favorites have to be the red and grey shades!

The Holo Hookup August 2016 Box Swatches & Review

The new box from The Holo Hookup is coming out soon! August's box is themed as "A Day In The Garden" and I've included the inspiration photo the makers used to create their polishes. As always, we have the usual indie brands Cupcake Polish, Different Dimension and Glisten & Glow giving us their lacquers, and they include a guest maker for each box. This time it's Nvr Enuff Polish, which is a new brand to me. Let's take a look at the pretties!

Cupcake Polish Blue Orchid is a cyan/teal blue linear holographic with strong blue and pink shimmers. This applied really easily, not too thick or thin, and covered in two coats.
 Cupcake Polish Blue Orchid

Different Dimension Montego Red is a darkened scarlet red linear holographic with added shimmers and purple microglitter. This has great coverage, almost a one coater, but I used two for 100% opacity.
Different Dimension Montego Red

Glisten & Glow Fern Gully is a forest green linear holographic with blue and gold shimmers. Another really awesome formula, two coats. I love the blue pops that come out of this, seriously makes me think of a lush rainforest!
Glisten & Glow Fern Gully

Nvr Enuff Polish Odessa Black is a blackened eggplant purple linear holographic with red shimmer and sparkle flakie bits. This was my first polish from this brand and I wasn't crazy about their wide, flat, tapered brush, but you get used to it. I applied this in two careful, thin coats, as the formula is a thicker jelly-type and I found that worked the best for me.
Nvr Enuff Polish Odessa Black

The August box will be available on The Holo Hookup website during a week long pre-order window, from July 21st at 9pm EST to July 28th at 9pm EST. The price is $40 plus shipping, available domestically and internationally. All pre-orders will ship by August 12. What do you think of this quartet of lush garden-y shades? I don't know if it's my favorite box from them, but I enjoyed all the colors!

Have a great day, and stay polished my friends!

Zoya Summer 2016 Seashells Collection Swatches & Review

I've got the second Zoya collection for the summer to show you today, a group of six glittery textured polishes called Seashells! (Click to see the other summer collection, the Sunsets!) This is the first reemergence of the PixieDust series since the Holiday Wishes collection in 2014. And more specifically the first return to the original PixieDust formula since Fall 2013. I was very excited to see these when I heard about them, so let's see how they turned out!

Tilly is described as a "starry grey, textured PixieDust with a small holographic glitter interwoven with a darker gunmetal." I'd say at first glance that it was silver with muted dark purple glitter, but I can see the grey/gunmetal thing too haha. This applied wonderfully, the glitter was easy to spread over the nail and I got full coverage in two coats.
Zoya Tilly

Zooey is a "classic pink, textured PixieDust laced with a fine thread of gold and medium sized holographic hexes for an added layer of dimension." This looks like a textured version of Zoya Harper from their 2014 Tickled & Bubbly collection and I love it! Two easy coats.
Zoya Zooey

Levi is a "beige gold, textured PixieDust with medium holographic hex glitter." Zoya says they created this color to give an updated glam look of one of the classic PixieDusts, so I'm thinking they're talking about Godiva. This is pretty different though so I can't be sure. I love how the holo glitter catches the light and brings green hints to the gold base! Two coats, flawless formula.
Zoya Levi

Bay is a "sky blue, textured PixieDust with fine silver and gold glitter." This one was a little more sheer than the others, I needed three coats to completely cover my nail. I didn't experience any staining though, which is nice. I can't help but think they named this in a way after Beyonce, considering her daughter's name haha.
Zoya Bay

Linds is a "cherry red, textured PixieDust with red and fuchsia glitter to mimic the look of maraschino cherries dipped in sugar." Linds has a creamier, more pigmented type of base like Tilly and Levi, lending it to be more opaque. This was almost a one coater, but I used two to get 100% coverage.
Zoya Linds

Cece is a "full impact green, textured PixieDust with a thin vein of gold creating a fizzy lemon-lime effect." I used two coats here but almost wish I'd have done one more, though in the photo it looks pretty good. Seemed more sheer, like Bay. Awesome color though, I totally needed a texture in this shade of green!
Zoya Cece

This collection is available now on the Zoya website for $10 each. I am pretty in love with these, I am really happy they went back to their roots and made more of the original type PixieDust formula textures. I thought the texture trend was over, but this kinda re-lit my passion for them! I would be pleased to see more!

ILNP Ultra Metallic Flakies Swatches & Review

Hi friends! I have two beautiful polishes to share with you today. I bought these from boutique indie brand ILNP a while ago and couldn't keep them from my readers any longer haha.

Juliette is a rose gold ultra metallic flakie with a holographic effect. This is incredibly stunning and I pretty much want to wear it every day. This went on my nails like magic, nice buttery magic. Opaque in two coats. I love that these types of flakie finishes don't require extra top coat to make them smooth like some glitters, just one. :)
ILNP Juliette

Bulletproof Symphony is a medium blue periwinkle ultra metallic flakie with a holographic effect. Reminds me of a pair of jeans, but some really awesome, holographic blingy jeans haha. Applied super easily with full coverage in two coats!
ILNP Bulletproof Symphony

I purchased both of these polishes on the ILNP website for $10 each. What do you think about these?? I wanted to tell you all about how much you all mean to me. All your support, even just coming by to check out my photos, really keeps me going. You're the best!

KBShimmer Summer 2016 Collection Swatches & Review

Summer is almost here! And the Summer collections are rolling in, yay! Today's collection is from KBShimmer, a twelve piece collection with an array of finishes, crème, crelly, glitter, holo, shimmer, and even a few more metallic flakies! KBShimmer always blows my mind, so I was way excited to see what they had come up with for the season.

Along For The Tide is an inky cobalt blue polish jam packed with shimmery micro flecks that shift from pink to violet and blue to purple, with a linear holo finish that pops in bright light. This applied really well, opaque in just two coats. I was mesmerized by the star-like glimmer in this!
KBShimmer Along For The Tide

Don't Play Koi has a muted white crelly base with coral, aqua and grey hex glitters. I love the addition of the grey in this, unexpected and totally ties in all the colors. This was on the thin side and required a little bit of manipulation to place the glitters, not unlike most glitter crelly mixes. I got this opaque in two coats, but you may need three depending on your application style.
KBShimmer Don't Play Koi

How Low Can You Flamingo? is a shocking pink crème, it's being marketed as an "almost neon" but I would go right ahead and call this a neon! Easy peasy formula, dreamy in two coats.
KBShimmer How Low Can You Flamingo?

Neon Me has a muted white crelly base full of small circle glitters and microglitters in a rainbow of neon shades. Same type of formula as Koi, thin, with some glitter placement. I went ahead and used three coats for complete coverage on this guy.
KBShimmer Neon Me

Ready For A Good Lime is a pastel lime green crème. This was easy to apply, better than almost any type of bleached neon I've tried! Two coats for full opacity. My camera had a hissy fit with this color and made my skin look a little odd here haha. Neons, amirite?!
KBShimmer Ready For A Good Lime

Good Reef! is a light peachy coral pink filled with blue and pink shimmer that pops in certain lights. This one was pretty sheer on the first coat, and doesn't self level very well. I needed three coats to cover the streaks and make it opaque. KBShimmer recommends applying two normal/thin coats and one thicker coat. This also dries semi-dull so you'll want a topcoat for shine. The formula isn't the worst I've tried and I like this color enough to deal with it, but it might deter some.
KBShimmer Good Reef!

Suit The Breeze is a periwinkle blue in the same type of style as Good Reef, with shimmery pink and violet micro flake shimmer. This applied muuuuch better though, opaque and even in just two coats, but you may want three if you are a stickler for thin coats. This one also dries on the dull side.
KBShimmer Suit The Breeze

Mai Tai One On is a soft lemonade yellow with tons of yellow gold and soft green shimmer. Another one in the style of Good Reef, with a better formula. However, since this is a pale yellow, I did need three coats for opacity. The shimmer in this one just screams "summer" to me!
KBShimmer Mai Tai One On

Playing With The Buoys is a soft, pastel sage with mint hues and blue undertones. Applied like an absolute dream and was opaque in two coats. This type of color just hits me straight through the heart, love!
KBShimmer Playing With The Buoys

One Night Sand is a metallic flake finish polish, same style as the polishes in their Birthstone collection that came out a few months ago. The color is a near copper, rose gold with added pops of holographic. Amazing formula, easy and opaque in two coats. I love that the flakes lie flat so they aren't textured!
KBShimmer One Night Sand

Gull, Get Real! is another metallic flake polish, this one is a light, grey toned purpley-blue. Same great formula, two coats for full coverage. It's so funny, I had really recently purchased two flake polishes in a rose gold and a rich purpley-blue from a different brand, and it looks like maybe I should've waited because this one and One Night Sand are so similar to those! Serves me right I guess haha.
KBShimmer Gull, Get Real!

That's Nude To Me is a beige, pink toned nude subtle linear holographic. This is a perfect summer neutral! Looks more shimmery indoors and has a great holo effect in bright light. Great application, opaque for me in just two coats.
KBShimmer That's Nude To Me

This collection will go on sale June 1st at 9am EST on the new & improved KBShimmer website. All the polishes are $9.25. They will also be available on Harlow & Co. for you international peeps!

So what do you think? Do you spot any must-haves? My favorites are Don't Play Koi, One Night Sand, and Suit The Breeze! Are you looking forward to summer? I'm a June baby so that'll be fun, but I prefer Autumn and Winter to be honest haha. I am excited to have lots of sun to be able to swatch more on the weekends though!

Powder Perfect The Midlands Collection Swatches & Review

Hi there :) My week is not going all that well so far, but at least I've got some great polish to show you today! The Midlands Collection from Australian indie brand Powder Perfect is releasing this week, yay! The Midlands is a "swathe of land that cuts across the heart of England. It is home to Sherwood Forest, a mysterious place that provided refuge for the legendary renegade Robin Hood & his merry men." I love the story of Robin Hood so I am really stoked for this collection.

Robin Hood is a rich Lincoln Green crème inspired by the color of cloth Robin Hood & his merry men wore for clothing. This seemed a bit thin, but was nice and opaque at two coats. What a beautiful shade of green!
Powder Perfect Robin Hood

Nottingham is a blackened navy blue with a smattering of scattered holographic glimmers. I love the super fine holo that Powder Perfect does, unique and glowy! This was totally opaque in one coat, but I did two here.
Powder Perfect Nottingham

Maid Marian is a multi-faceted character, which is reflected in her namesake polish. It has a muted purple base filled with duochrome glitters and shimmer that shift from gold to dark pink. I detect a small amount of green in this as well. Thin and a bit sheer on the first coat, but I got full coverage in just two layers. This is one you have to see in person to really appreciate, it's gorgeous! My friend Valesha over at Peachy Polish has a jaw-dropping macro of this lady on her review post here.
Powder Perfect Maid Marian

Watchful Nights is a dark eggplant purple jelly. Lovely shade of purple, but the formula didn't seem to want to apply evenly for me. You can see around the edges on some nails it seems a bit more translucent. This is two coats, but perhaps three would've worked better.
Powder Perfect Watchful Nights

This collection will be available on May 12th at 7pm EST on the Powder Perfect US based website, and on May 13th 10am QLD time (which may be at the same time, idk) on the Australian website. What say you about this foursome of shades? Have you tried Powder Perfect yet?

Illyrian Polish Color4Nails Exclusive Duo Swatches & Review

Happy Tuesday cookies! How has your week been going? Mine is shaping up to be nice, I have a short trip to Las Vegas for business for the rest of week so that'll be a nice break from everyday life haha. I live at the other end of the state from LV and it's much different up here. Today I have two new exclusive polishes from the Color4Nails online store to show you! This duo comes from indie brand Illyrian Polish.

Dove Jam has a mid-tone grey holographic base with grey iridescent flakes and a flash of bronzey pink shimmer. This was easy to apply. I used thin coats and it was almost opaque in two, but I added a third for a total coverage. You would probably be fine with two with normal/thicker coats. I really love the contrasting shimmer in this.
Illyrian Polish Dove Jam

Peacock Sauce is a deep teal blue holographic with deep red flakies and a strong gold shimmer. I love the flakes and holo but I felt like the shimmer gave the polish a bit of a frosty look. Same type of formula as Dove Jam; I used three coats but you could probably get away with two.
Illyrian Polish Peacock Sauce

These are available on the Color4Nails website now for $13 each. What do you think of these two shades? I like the names so much haha! They're not really summer colors, but I know I will get some good use out of them when the colder months roll around. Have you tried Illyrian Polish yet?
