KBShimmer Office Space Collection Swatches & Review

Hey folks, I'm here today to show you the next KBShimmer collection coming soon in January, the Office Space collection! “Sometimes you want to be a bit naughty, but stay within the professional lines. The Office Space collection consists of eight naughty and neutral shade ideas for the office. These shades add a pop of color and sparkle to your nails, while still keeping the boss happy." My job doesn't discriminate against any nail polish colors, thank goodness, but if they did, these colors would be a revelation!

Take Back CTRL is a dusty rose mauve crème. Leans purple but is on the border of the pink family I think. Excellent formula, buttery and smooth. Opaque in two coats.
KBShimmer Take Back CTRL

A Hint Of Manila is in the famous KBShimmer mega flame finish, this has a light tan base loaded with tons of holographic sparkle. A touch thick but not difficult to apply. This is two coats. Dries with a glitter texture so you'll want a thick layer of top coat or two for a smooth finish.
KBShimmer A Hint Of Manila

Staple Relationship is a deepened gray with slight purple undertones full of metallic silver flakes and holographic sparkle. This is in the KBShimmer birthstone finish, a favorite of mine. Super opaque, a one coater! I used two anyway though. The flakies dry flat so there is no texture to this one.
KBShimmer Staple Relationship

Caught On Tape is a pale pink mauve crème. This is simple and pretty, really classic. Lovely formula, really excellent for such a light color! And quite opaque, I only needed two coats.
KBShimmer Caught On Tape

Fax Of Life is a dark platinum grey linear holographic shade. I was pretty floored at how opaque this guy was, almost a one coater but I used two for 100% coverage. Easy and breezy and great!
KBShimmer Fax Of Life

Supplies Party has a warm vanilla cream base loaded with metallic flakes and holographic sparkle. Another birthstone finish shade with a great formula. An unexpected favorite, two coats.
KBShimmer Supplies Party

Cubicle Pusher is a muted dusty grape holographic. Great formula, just a little on the thinner side. I used three coats here but you could probably get away with just two, I think I was being cautious haha.
KBShimmer Cubicle Pusher

Makin’ Copies is a pale silver filled with white shimmer and holographic pigment. The holo in this is subtle, but it's definitely there. A bit more sheer, but being an almost white, that isn't really unexpected. I used three coats here.
KBShimmer Makin' Copies

This collection will launch on Wednesday, January 4th on the KBShimmer website. The polishes will sell for $9.25 each. For international folks, check out Harlow & Co., though I'm not sure what date they will be available there. Let me know what you think about these neutral beauties!

KBShimmer Winter/Holiday 2016 Collection Swatches & Review

Hey folks! The winter collections are starting to roll out, and today I wanted to show you the 16 piece collection from KBShimmer for the upcoming season! This collection is filled with something for everyone, some shades are wintry, some are holiday-esque, and some are just really great colors!

Take Me For Granite is a pale grey crelly inspired by the first snow of the year, covering the asphalt with shades of white, gray and specks of black. This formula was great, like all KBShimmer crellies, let's be honest. You could use two coats, or three for a more opaque base like I did.
KBShimmer Take Me For Granite

Spruce Things Up is a holiday green jelly polish with tons of micro holo and sliver glitters. Some of the glitter almost looks gold too, very blingy Christmas-tree looking. I used three coats here. Easy to apply, dries gritty so you'll want a thick top coat.
KBShimmer Spruce Things Up

A Walk In The Park-a is a mid-tone orchid purple crème. This has a fabulous one coat formula, although I always use two. I definitely would rock a parka or a cozy sweater in this color, so cute.
KBShimmer A Walk In The Park-a

Have A Look-Ski is a muted teal linear holographic. This is a slightly dusty shade for such a firey holo, more blue than green, kinda ocean/lake-y water color. Excellent formula, two coats.
KBShimmer Have A Look-Ski

Haute Mess is a mix of silver, copper, rose gold, and holographic glitters in a clear base. You could layer this or build it up on it's own, as I've done here. This is only two coats, it's super dense and full of glitter so it was very easy to get total coverage. I love the mixed metal look!
KBShimmer Haute Mess

The Holy Kale is a green linear holographic with added micro glass flakes that shift between blue and pink. This started a bit sheer, it was right on the edge of being a two coater, but I thought it looked better with three. The shimmer has a very vivid shift, which gives it an interesting pop.
KBShimmer The Holy Kale

Ornamentally Flawless is a jewel toned glitter polish in shades of turquoise, fuchsia, gold, green and sliver in a clear base. I chose to put one coat over A Walk In The Park-a, but this is also super dense so it could be full coverage on it's own easily. I found the clear base dried crazy fast too.
KBShimmer Ornamentally Flawless

Yeti Or Not is a very pale gray, almost white, polish loaded with iridescent and holographic glitters that glisten like "fresh fallen snow." Almost the same finish as the KBShimmer Mega Flame line, just a touch thicker. You can wear this alone for a textured finish, or use a thick layer of top coat or two to get a smooth, sparkly look. I built this up in three coats with a top coat.
KBShimmer Yeti Or Not

Chai-huahua is a warm, brick red crème inspired by the spices that make up a chai drink, cinnamon, cloves and anise. This was super close to being a one coater, but I needed two to get the color you see in the bottle. This is a little bright in my shot, as I take photos in full sunlight, in other lighting it is a little darker and a bit more brown toned.
KBShimmer Chai-huahua

Ink Again is a super vibrant ink blue linear holographic. I can't even say anything about this, it's just SO GOOD. Two coats.
KBShimmer Ink Again

Whiskey Business is a warm, golden yellow with metallic flakes and a scattering of micro holo glitter. If you liked the Birthstone collection, you will love this! The formula was literally effortless to apply, opaque in two coats.
KBShimmer Whiskey Business

Royal To A Fault is a royal purple filled with micro glass flakes that shift from blue to violet at different angles. I was pretty blown away by this, and I usually don't go for blurples. Good formula, seemed a little sheer on the first coat, but after I used a bit of a thicker second layer it reached full coverage.
KBShimmer Royal To A Fault

Get To The Poinsettia is a red linear holographic. Awesome holiday red, super fiery holo, and smooth as silk. Two coats here.
KBShimmer Get To The Poinsettia

Soot and Ladders is a black jelly filled with micro flakes in a rainbow of colors, inspired by Christmas lights. This has a thinner formula, but was very easy to work with. I used two coats here.
KBShimmer Soot and Ladders

Just Duvet It is a rich grape purple, almost a metallic but not quite, with a sprinkle of holo sparkle, and a dusting of pink shimmery flakes. Another impressive purple, great formula and opaque in two coats.
KBShimmer Just Duvet It

Bling In The New Year is made up of a base of silver metallic flakes and silver holo glitter with accents of colorful shifting flakes in pinks, greens, gold and blues. This is also in the Birthstone finish, lovely to apply though I found it ever so slightly runny, so be sure not to overload your brush.
KBShimmer Blink In the New Year

This collection will be available for sale on Tuesday, November 1st on the KBShimmer website for $9.25 each. Two shades from previous year's winter collections, Holly Back Girl and sELFie, will also be available for purchase. International folks can purchase from Harlow & Co., though I don't have a date for their release.

There will be some excellent gifts with purchase available from 11/1 - 12/31/16 or while supplies last on KBShimmer.com! If you spend $25 or more (excluding shipping & taxes, after any discounts) you will get a chrome nail polish charm with the KBShimmer logo. If you spend $50 or more you'll receive the chrome charm, a mini crystal nail file with the KBShimmer logo, and free shipping! And if you spend $75 or more you'll get the charm, nail file, free shipping and a faux leather holographic cosmetic case with the KBShimmer logo! These items will also be available for sale separately on the website.

Finally, they have some new limited edition holiday scents available in mani shots, mega shots, sugar scrubs, cuticle creams and lotions: Gingerbread Men, Very Merry Cranberry, and Cocoa And Cookies. I got to try Gingerbread Men and it's scrumptious! Let me know what you think about these shades, I have to say I'm pretty enamored with this collection! The Holy Kale, Royal To A Fault and Take Me for Granite are my favorites. Which ones catch your eye?

Guest Post by Paulina's Passions: Dream Big Nail Art

Hi everyone! Please enjoy this amazing guest post by my friend Paulina from Paulina's Passions!

----

Hello the beautiful readers of Kellie's blog! My name is Paulina and I am from the Paulina's Passions blog.  I cannot even describe how excited I am to be here for this guest post. I have been following Kellie's blog for ages and I have always found tons of inspiration here. I especially love her blog posts with indie polish swatches and all the beautiful holo pictures! Kellie is my Swatch Queen and I always come to her blog for new releases and collections.

I made a super simple, summery nail art for this guest post. I have recently tried my first polishes from KBShimmer and I have totally fallen in love with them. I paired two beautiful polishes from the Summer 2016 collection to make this nail art. KBShimmer One Night Sand and Playing With The Boys look absolutely gorgeous together and I knew I would be using them for nail art!

Using a regular striping tape I made mint and glittery stripes on my ring finger. I am really loving these simple stripes and how the colors look over a white base. I popped a cute water decal with a message on my middle finger. This is just a little reminder to us all that we should always try to fulfill our dreams and not to be afraid to reach for them and just DREAM BIG! The decals come from Shop Keeki. (http://www.shopkeeki.com/)

What do you guys think of these simple bright nails? I am quite pleased with the end effect of this nail art and I got so many compliments while wearing them. Sometimes I like making simple things on my nails, just some simple stripes or cute decals always look adorable. If you enjoy nail art, I'd be super happy if check out my blog at Paulina's Passions.

Thank you so much Kellie for having me on your lovely blog. I am really happy that I could contribute to your beautiful website and share my passion for nails with your readers.

KBShimmer Fall 2016 Collection Swatches & Review

Fall is my favorite season BY FAR. In terms of weather, holidays and polish colors. And one of the things I look forward to the most when fall is near is the reveal of KBShimmer's new collection! This year we get twelve beautiful shades in various finishes, holos, glitters, crellies, and crèmes. Let's look shall we?

Orchidding Me? is a warm purple linear holographic that leans a bit fuchsia. A fabulous holo formula, fantastic rainbowy fire! Two coats, dries pretty shiny but I'd still recommend a top coat. This is my favorite shade of purple, super pretty.
KBShimmer Orchidding Me?

Little Boy Hue is a soft baby blue inspired by the 2016 Pantone color of the year Serenity. Amazing formula, super close to being a one coater! With such a light color, that's really impressive. I used two coats here.
KBShimmer Little Boy Hue

Tiers Of Joy is described as a "cake batter" color, a crelly filled with pops of gold holographic and pink glitters, along with nutmeg and holo microglitter that "add a hint of spice." I always swoon for the KBShimmer crellies, and this is no exception. Easy formula, three coats. You could get away with two if you want a slightly more translucent look.
KBShimmer Tiers Of Joy

Grin And Gerbera It is a warm deep pink crème. A very wearable shade, ideal for fall or spring, or any season really! Incredible one coat formula, but I used two like usual.
KBShimmer Grin And Gerbera It

The Best Mum Ever is a deepened lavender loaded with a pinky red micro flakies. The flakes rise and sink in the base to give it crazy awesome dimension and depth, so pretty! This is on the thinner side, but was surprisingly completely opaque in two coats.
KBShimmer The Best Mum Ever

Poppy Kisses is a bright, orange toned red linear holographic. This applied really easily, great formula and opaque in two coats. Makes me think of apple and pumpkin harvest time!
KBShimmer Poppy Kisses

Sage It Ain't So is a soft sage green crelly accented with copper, lavender and silver glitter, and a sprinkling of holographic dust. Lovely and easy to polish with, I used three coats for full coverage on my nails, but you may only need two.
KBShimmer Sage It Ain't So

Turning Pointe is a new addition to the KBShimmer Mega Flame line, a soft peachy pink jelly base filled to the brim with super holographic microglitter. Excellent application, two coats gives complete opacity. I recommend a thick top coat for all of the mega flames as they dry very glittery. This is super blingy in real life, my photo unfortunately doesn't do it justice.
KBShimmer Turning Pointe

Flake Me Home Tonight is a minty silver metallic flake polish with holographic sparkle. The same formula as their Birthstone collection, no fuss formula and covers in two coats. No texture with this, as the flakes lay flat, but I'd wear a top coat anyway.
KBShimmer Flake Me Home Tonight

Oh My Ganache is a rich dark chocolate linear holographic. Creamier than the other holos, and not quite as linear, but still has lots of glistening rainbow-yness. Two coats here!
KBShimmer Oh My Ganache

Sweet Devotion is a candy inspired white crelly bursting with hex glitters in blue, red, yellow, orange, green and brown, with a dash of micro slice glitters. Another great crelly formula, three coats here. You could also layer one coat of this over a white crème.
KBShimmer Sweet Devotion

Fright This Way is Halloween inspired, it has a deep black jelly base with a scattering of holo dust and loads of purple glitter. This was a little chunky, some of the larger glitter pieces had begun to curl a bit which left the surface pretty bumpy. I used two layers of thick top coat to get a smooth surface over three layers of polish.
KBShimmer Fright This Way

Included with the collection (free with fall collection orders while supplies last), are some metallic purple bat glitters, which were begging to be paired with Fright This Way! I placed a few on each nail and covered them with another two layers of thick top coat. It looks awesome, but I don't know how wearable this is with all those layers haha. If I wore this combo again, I'd wait to put on top coat until after I put on the glitter pieces.
KBShimmer Fright This Way (with bat glitters)

This collection is available now on the KBShimmer website for $9.25 each. They are also running some promos for a while to celebrate their 8th year in business, check out their Facebook page for details! What do you think of these twelve fall beauties? My favorites are the crellies of course, but all of them are winners for me.

KBShimmer Summer 2016 Collection Swatches & Review

Summer is almost here! And the Summer collections are rolling in, yay! Today's collection is from KBShimmer, a twelve piece collection with an array of finishes, crème, crelly, glitter, holo, shimmer, and even a few more metallic flakies! KBShimmer always blows my mind, so I was way excited to see what they had come up with for the season.

Along For The Tide is an inky cobalt blue polish jam packed with shimmery micro flecks that shift from pink to violet and blue to purple, with a linear holo finish that pops in bright light. This applied really well, opaque in just two coats. I was mesmerized by the star-like glimmer in this!
KBShimmer Along For The Tide

Don't Play Koi has a muted white crelly base with coral, aqua and grey hex glitters. I love the addition of the grey in this, unexpected and totally ties in all the colors. This was on the thin side and required a little bit of manipulation to place the glitters, not unlike most glitter crelly mixes. I got this opaque in two coats, but you may need three depending on your application style.
KBShimmer Don't Play Koi

How Low Can You Flamingo? is a shocking pink crème, it's being marketed as an "almost neon" but I would go right ahead and call this a neon! Easy peasy formula, dreamy in two coats.
KBShimmer How Low Can You Flamingo?

Neon Me has a muted white crelly base full of small circle glitters and microglitters in a rainbow of neon shades. Same type of formula as Koi, thin, with some glitter placement. I went ahead and used three coats for complete coverage on this guy.
KBShimmer Neon Me

Ready For A Good Lime is a pastel lime green crème. This was easy to apply, better than almost any type of bleached neon I've tried! Two coats for full opacity. My camera had a hissy fit with this color and made my skin look a little odd here haha. Neons, amirite?!
KBShimmer Ready For A Good Lime

Good Reef! is a light peachy coral pink filled with blue and pink shimmer that pops in certain lights. This one was pretty sheer on the first coat, and doesn't self level very well. I needed three coats to cover the streaks and make it opaque. KBShimmer recommends applying two normal/thin coats and one thicker coat. This also dries semi-dull so you'll want a topcoat for shine. The formula isn't the worst I've tried and I like this color enough to deal with it, but it might deter some.
KBShimmer Good Reef!

Suit The Breeze is a periwinkle blue in the same type of style as Good Reef, with shimmery pink and violet micro flake shimmer. This applied muuuuch better though, opaque and even in just two coats, but you may want three if you are a stickler for thin coats. This one also dries on the dull side.
KBShimmer Suit The Breeze

Mai Tai One On is a soft lemonade yellow with tons of yellow gold and soft green shimmer. Another one in the style of Good Reef, with a better formula. However, since this is a pale yellow, I did need three coats for opacity. The shimmer in this one just screams "summer" to me!
KBShimmer Mai Tai One On

Playing With The Buoys is a soft, pastel sage with mint hues and blue undertones. Applied like an absolute dream and was opaque in two coats. This type of color just hits me straight through the heart, love!
KBShimmer Playing With The Buoys

One Night Sand is a metallic flake finish polish, same style as the polishes in their Birthstone collection that came out a few months ago. The color is a near copper, rose gold with added pops of holographic. Amazing formula, easy and opaque in two coats. I love that the flakes lie flat so they aren't textured!
KBShimmer One Night Sand

Gull, Get Real! is another metallic flake polish, this one is a light, grey toned purpley-blue. Same great formula, two coats for full coverage. It's so funny, I had really recently purchased two flake polishes in a rose gold and a rich purpley-blue from a different brand, and it looks like maybe I should've waited because this one and One Night Sand are so similar to those! Serves me right I guess haha.
KBShimmer Gull, Get Real!

That's Nude To Me is a beige, pink toned nude subtle linear holographic. This is a perfect summer neutral! Looks more shimmery indoors and has a great holo effect in bright light. Great application, opaque for me in just two coats.
KBShimmer That's Nude To Me

This collection will go on sale June 1st at 9am EST on the new & improved KBShimmer website. All the polishes are $9.25. They will also be available on Harlow & Co. for you international peeps!

So what do you think? Do you spot any must-haves? My favorites are Don't Play Koi, One Night Sand, and Suit The Breeze! Are you looking forward to summer? I'm a June baby so that'll be fun, but I prefer Autumn and Winter to be honest haha. I am excited to have lots of sun to be able to swatch more on the weekends though!
