Nine Zero Lacquer December 2016 Polish of the Month Swatch & Review

Hey there, it's a new month, so comes a new Polish of the Month from Nine Zero Lacquer! This indie brand has been releasing a new polish each month this year to be a part of their 2016: A Year In Review collection.

December 2017 is a baby blue holographic with holographic silver microglitter. Lovely formula, glides on easily and covers the nail well. This is two coats. Dries a touch dull so use a top coat for a shiny finish.

This polish can be purchased on the Nine Zero Lacquer website for $11. Let me know how you like this shade! What have you thought of the 2016: A Year In Review collection? I've reviewed all 12 and have loved seeing what comes out each month. They are all available for a limited time before the end of the year, so if you missed any you're thinking about picking up, don't hesitate!

Glam Polish Limited Edition Group Exclusives Swatches & Review

Hi there! I've got some new polishes from Glam Polish today to celebrate their 4th Anniversary and their fans, two new limited edition polishes created exclusively for the members of the Glam Polish Facebook fan group!

Glitter For Breakfast is a special shade created from an inspiration picture and name suggested by fan group members. It is a mix of pink, violet, gold and silver holographic microglitter in a delicate pink tinted holo base with platinum silver flakes, pink glass flecks, and holo flakies. Excellent application, covers in one coat but I used two here. It is a glitter so it will dry with a gritty texture, I suggest using a layer of thick top coat or two to get a smooth finish.
Glam Polish Glitter For Breakfast

L-O-V-E is a special shade created to celebrate Glam Polish’s birthday and to show appreciation to their customers for supporting them over the last four years. This is a greenish-teal-turquoise intense holographic with added platinum silver flakes. This is has a superb formula, it's close to being a one coater but I used two here. This is stunning, not to be missed!
Glam Polish L-O-V-E

Glam Polish Hella Holo Customs Swatches & Review

Hi folks! Today I wanted to show you some cool new shades from Glam Polish, who is a guest maker of the month for the Facebook group Hella Holo Customs. The group has two makers each month create a few polishes from ideas from group members, and then those polishes are sold exclusively in the group. I'm excited to be able to show you these pretties!

Serendipity is a soft, pale blue holographic with purple and pink shimmer, sparks and glass flecks. Effortless formula, just glides on the nail. This is two coats.
Glam Polish Serendipity

Tainted Love is a berry red linear holographic with a pink flash. This is excellent, with full coverage on one coat. It did seem a tad deeper on two coats though, which is what I've done here.
Glam Polish Tainted Love

Sole Fantasy has a violet tinted holographic base with violet, pink, lavender and silver ultra holo microglitter, neon pink microglitter, and purple glass flecks. This was easy to apply, even considering how full of glitter it is. This is two coats. The microglitter can be a bit bumpy so you might want an extra layer of top coat.
Glam Polish Sole Fantasy

Forest Nymph is a forest green jelly filled with iridescent, color shifting and holo flakies, purple glass flecks and violet holo microglitter. This is super duper packed with flakies, which may make it seem thick, but the base is thinner so don't overload your brush. I used two coats here.
Glam Polish Forest Nymph

These are available now through the end of the month; to order, you need to join the Hella Holo Customs group and read all the rules. Let me know what you think of these special holos! Are you interested in picking any up? Thanks for stopping by today and have a lovely weekend!

KBShimmer Winter/Holiday 2016 Collection Swatches & Review

Hey folks! The winter collections are starting to roll out, and today I wanted to show you the 16 piece collection from KBShimmer for the upcoming season! This collection is filled with something for everyone, some shades are wintry, some are holiday-esque, and some are just really great colors!

Take Me For Granite is a pale grey crelly inspired by the first snow of the year, covering the asphalt with shades of white, gray and specks of black. This formula was great, like all KBShimmer crellies, let's be honest. You could use two coats, or three for a more opaque base like I did.
KBShimmer Take Me For Granite

Spruce Things Up is a holiday green jelly polish with tons of micro holo and sliver glitters. Some of the glitter almost looks gold too, very blingy Christmas-tree looking. I used three coats here. Easy to apply, dries gritty so you'll want a thick top coat.
KBShimmer Spruce Things Up

A Walk In The Park-a is a mid-tone orchid purple crème. This has a fabulous one coat formula, although I always use two. I definitely would rock a parka or a cozy sweater in this color, so cute.
KBShimmer A Walk In The Park-a

Have A Look-Ski is a muted teal linear holographic. This is a slightly dusty shade for such a firey holo, more blue than green, kinda ocean/lake-y water color. Excellent formula, two coats.
KBShimmer Have A Look-Ski

Haute Mess is a mix of silver, copper, rose gold, and holographic glitters in a clear base. You could layer this or build it up on it's own, as I've done here. This is only two coats, it's super dense and full of glitter so it was very easy to get total coverage. I love the mixed metal look!
KBShimmer Haute Mess

The Holy Kale is a green linear holographic with added micro glass flakes that shift between blue and pink. This started a bit sheer, it was right on the edge of being a two coater, but I thought it looked better with three. The shimmer has a very vivid shift, which gives it an interesting pop.
KBShimmer The Holy Kale

Ornamentally Flawless is a jewel toned glitter polish in shades of turquoise, fuchsia, gold, green and sliver in a clear base. I chose to put one coat over A Walk In The Park-a, but this is also super dense so it could be full coverage on it's own easily. I found the clear base dried crazy fast too.
KBShimmer Ornamentally Flawless

Yeti Or Not is a very pale gray, almost white, polish loaded with iridescent and holographic glitters that glisten like "fresh fallen snow." Almost the same finish as the KBShimmer Mega Flame line, just a touch thicker. You can wear this alone for a textured finish, or use a thick layer of top coat or two to get a smooth, sparkly look. I built this up in three coats with a top coat.
KBShimmer Yeti Or Not

Chai-huahua is a warm, brick red crème inspired by the spices that make up a chai drink, cinnamon, cloves and anise. This was super close to being a one coater, but I needed two to get the color you see in the bottle. This is a little bright in my shot, as I take photos in full sunlight, in other lighting it is a little darker and a bit more brown toned.
KBShimmer Chai-huahua

Ink Again is a super vibrant ink blue linear holographic. I can't even say anything about this, it's just SO GOOD. Two coats.
KBShimmer Ink Again

Whiskey Business is a warm, golden yellow with metallic flakes and a scattering of micro holo glitter. If you liked the Birthstone collection, you will love this! The formula was literally effortless to apply, opaque in two coats.
KBShimmer Whiskey Business

Royal To A Fault is a royal purple filled with micro glass flakes that shift from blue to violet at different angles. I was pretty blown away by this, and I usually don't go for blurples. Good formula, seemed a little sheer on the first coat, but after I used a bit of a thicker second layer it reached full coverage.
KBShimmer Royal To A Fault

Get To The Poinsettia is a red linear holographic. Awesome holiday red, super fiery holo, and smooth as silk. Two coats here.
KBShimmer Get To The Poinsettia

Soot and Ladders is a black jelly filled with micro flakes in a rainbow of colors, inspired by Christmas lights. This has a thinner formula, but was very easy to work with. I used two coats here.
KBShimmer Soot and Ladders

Just Duvet It is a rich grape purple, almost a metallic but not quite, with a sprinkle of holo sparkle, and a dusting of pink shimmery flakes. Another impressive purple, great formula and opaque in two coats.
KBShimmer Just Duvet It

Bling In The New Year is made up of a base of silver metallic flakes and silver holo glitter with accents of colorful shifting flakes in pinks, greens, gold and blues. This is also in the Birthstone finish, lovely to apply though I found it ever so slightly runny, so be sure not to overload your brush.
KBShimmer Blink In the New Year

This collection will be available for sale on Tuesday, November 1st on the KBShimmer website for $9.25 each. Two shades from previous year's winter collections, Holly Back Girl and sELFie, will also be available for purchase. International folks can purchase from Harlow & Co., though I don't have a date for their release.

There will be some excellent gifts with purchase available from 11/1 - 12/31/16 or while supplies last on KBShimmer.com! If you spend $25 or more (excluding shipping & taxes, after any discounts) you will get a chrome nail polish charm with the KBShimmer logo. If you spend $50 or more you'll receive the chrome charm, a mini crystal nail file with the KBShimmer logo, and free shipping! And if you spend $75 or more you'll get the charm, nail file, free shipping and a faux leather holographic cosmetic case with the KBShimmer logo! These items will also be available for sale separately on the website.

Finally, they have some new limited edition holiday scents available in mani shots, mega shots, sugar scrubs, cuticle creams and lotions: Gingerbread Men, Very Merry Cranberry, and Cocoa And Cookies. I got to try Gingerbread Men and it's scrumptious! Let me know what you think about these shades, I have to say I'm pretty enamored with this collection! The Holy Kale, Royal To A Fault and Take Me for Granite are my favorites. Which ones catch your eye?

The Holo Hookup November 2016 Swatches & Review

The Holo Hookup is flying into our hearts again for another collaboration box! The November quartet is inspired by beautiful, colorful birds, themed as "Birds Of A Feather". The box always features unique, exclusive polishes from indie brands Cupcake Polish, DIFFERENT dimension and Glisten & Glow, with a fourth shade from a special guest brand. This month they are joined by Nine Zero Lacquer.
color inspiration

Cupcake Polish Flamingo is a bright orangey pink linear holographic. The first adjective I could think of when I first saw this was juicy! Can lean more orange in different lighting. Excellent formula, two coats for full opacity.
Cupcake Polish Flamingo

Glisten & Glow Purple Grenadier is a medium purple linear holographic with added shimmers and cherry red galaxy glitters. I found this to have a creamier formula than the others, a little thin but not difficult to apply. This is two coats. The red glitters really shine in person, giving this a unique pop.
Glisten & Glow Purple Grenadier

DIFFERENT dimension Pygmy Kingfisher is a stunning gold linear holographic with a chrome red/orange/yellow multichrome effect. You have to see this to believe it, it's breathtaking! A touch thicker than the others, two coats here.
DIFFERENT dimension Pygmy Kingfisher

Nine Zero Lacquer Masked Flowerpiercer is a cerulean blue linear holographic. I've been fortunate to know the Nine Zero brand from their beginnings, they are a great brand. This applied effortlessly and covered in two coats, with slight brushstrokes.
Nine Zero Lacquer Masked Flowerpiercer

The November box pre-order is open from Friday, October 21 9PM EDT through Friday, October 28 9PM EDT on The Holo Hookup website. The cost for the box is $40 plus shipping, domestic and international. I hope you enjoyed seeing these swatches, I really loved the colors this round. What do you think?

GlitterDaze Moon Baby Collection Swatches & Review

I have the latest collection from GlitterDaze to show you today, the Moon Baby collection! I've always considered myself more of a "moon" than a "sun" if you know what I mean, so these already had me intrigued when I heard the name. There are six ultra holographics in lightly toned spacey colors in this set. They all have the same formula, slightly thick but not difficult to apply if you don't overload your brush. I used two coats for all the swatches here.

Amaris is a lavender toned pink linear holographic with a gold to green shifting iridescent base.
GlitterDaze Amaris

Crescent is a light blue linear holographic with a lavender to blue shifting iridescent base.
GlitterDaze Crescent

Eclipse is a smoky grey linear holographic with a lavender to gold shifting iridescent base.
GlitterDaze Eclipse

Luna is a lilac linear holographic with a pink to orange shifting base.
GlitterDaze Luna

Moonbeam is a neutral silvery taupe linear holographic with a lavender to blue shifting iridescent base.
GlitterDaze Moonbeam

Starlit is a mint green linear holographic with a pink to orange shifting base.
GlitterDaze Starlit

This collection is available now for $12.50 individually on the GlitterDaze website. What do you think of these ultra holos? I am refreshed by the soft colors with all the deeper shades we've had coming out with the fall season. My favorite is Starlit but they're all gorgeous! Are you a "moon baby"?

SuperChic Lacquer Urban Dictionary Collection Swatches & Review

Hi friends! Today I have a new collection from indie brand SuperChic Lacquer, the Urban Dictionary collection of eight superholo shades. They are described as "fierce color depth shades with intense linear holographic effects." I used a good base coat on all of these to prevent staining, I prefer the SuperChic Bring It On! stain blocking/color bonding base coat.

Rum-Billie is a warm spiced rum linear holographic. Awesomely robust, opaque in one coat and easy to apply. This is a unique shade to my collection, I can't get over it's hotness!
SuperChic Lacquer Rum-Billie

Trap Queen is a vibrant raspberry holographic. This gal is also a one coater, yay! Did you immediately start singing that song? Because I did :)
SuperChic Lacquer Trap Queen

Zombie Crush is a dark blackened blood purple holographic. Great formula, super pigmented. I got a little of this in my cuticle and it ended up staining my skin, so take care! One coater here.
SuperChic Lacquer Zombie Crush

Wonderwall is an intense pale champagne gold holographic. There is a teal tinge to this that is quite subtle, but it's definitely there. This is the only shade in the collection where two coats were necessary for full coverage.
SuperChic Lacquer Wonderwall

Awkward Turtle is a gorgeous muted olive green holographic. I was hoping for a green in the SuperChic intense holo formula, so I was really excited to see this! Another fabulous one coater.
SuperChic Lacquer Awkward Turtle

Rosebuddy is a pale pink intense holographic. This is almost a rose gold but is more pink than the almost coppery shade I think of for a rose gold. Due to it's lighter color I really thought I would need two coats, but one really did cover my nail completely!
SuperChic Lacquer Rosebuddy

Deadpool is a dark ocean-at-night blue holographic. Who doesn't love a dark blue for fall? One coat wonder.
SuperChic Lacquer Deadpool

Awesome Sauce is an intense rich dark chocolate holographic. I'm loving all the brown shades that are coming out this year and this is no exception. This is a one coat shade as well.
SuperChic Lacquer Awesome Sauce

This collection, along with SuperChic's other intense holos, the Dreamology collection, will be available for pre-order today September 26th at 4pm PST (USA) on the SuperChic Lacquer website. All polishes are $12 each. Let me know what you think of all of these holo babes!

Different Dimension Halloween 2016 Poe. Collection Swatch & Review

Hey there folks! I have an awesome quartet of polishes from indie brand Different Dimension to show you today. It's the Poe. collection, inspired by the gothic literary stylings of Edgar Allan Poe, someone who I've been a fan of since I was a wee lass.

Once Upon a Midnight Dreary is a black jelly polish with hex glitters in orange, blue, purple, and green. I love the formula of these type of polishes from Different Dimension, they all apply easily, not too thin or thick. This is three coats. Perfect shade for the Halloween season!
Different Dimension Once Upon a Midnight Dreary

...Dream Within a Dream is a full coverage Halloween glitterbomb! Holographic silver microglitter with added tones of orange and black glitter in various shades and sizes. This is loaded UP with glitter, a little chunky but surprisingly easy to handle. I used three coats here to make it opaque, but you could also layer this one over a silver, orange, or black for an equally cool look. May require extra layer of top coat for a smooth finish.
Different Dimension ...Dream Within a Dream

Nevermore is a charcoal black linear holographic with added orange shimmers and orange microglitter bits. This was incredible, easy to apply and super opaque. The microglitter pieces can poke through a bit so I used two layers of top coat on this one. I've worn this twice since I got it!
Different Dimension Nevermore

And All I Loved, I Loved Alone is an orange jelly with holographic flakes. Love this type of formula, even, opaque and sparkly finish in a jelly! Such a great pumpkin-y shade for the season!
Different Dimension And All I Loved, I Loved Alone

New cuticle oil scents coming soon too! They will come in both pen (2.7 mL) and dropper (15mL) sizes, as well as new sample sizes, which are great for testing scent/fragrance sensitivities. This is the first time I've tried Different Dimension's cuticle oil and I am really pleased with them! I'm totally diggin the long lasting moisturizing qualities and scents.
Image via Different Dimension website

New cuticle oil scents are: Explore - Fresh pumpkin blended with orange peel, sweet carrot, ground cinnamon, clove bud, nutmeg and vanilla cream; Discover - A fresh and feminine fruity blend of mango and strawberries with grapefruit, freesia and amber and tonka bean; Journey - Notes of pink amber and vanilla wrap around blushed orchid and jasmine petals; and Drift - Ripe black raspberries are mixed with dark plum and warm vanilla.

The polishes and oils will be available on Friday 9/23 at 9pm EST on the Different Dimension website. Polishes will be priced at $12 each, except for Once Upon a Midnight Dreary which is specially priced at $5. There will be special discount pricing on the full collection for the first 24 hours of release, so mark your calendar! Let me know what you think of these new shades! I've got more Different Dimension for you very soon so keep your eyes peeled for them!

The Holo Hookup October 2016 Swatches & Review

The next edition of monthly indie collaboration box The Holo Hookup is near! The fun new theme is Clue: The Mystery! I grew up playing the board game and the movie Clue is one of my absolute favorites! I was super excited to see the polishes from all the brands this month, and to see who the guest polish maker was! Different Dimension, Cupcake Polish, and Glisten & Glow are being joined by Starrily for the month of October.

Glisten & Glow Mrs. Peacock in the Billiard Room is a blue linear holographic with added gold and green shimmers and galaxy glitters. Incredibly smooth, easy formula. Two coats. The galaxy glitters aren't super apparent in my photo, but they bring a nice glimmery quality to the polish in real life. (I think the weapon Mrs. Peacock used was the knife!)
Glisten & Glow Mrs. Peacock in the Billiard Room

Different Dimension Professor Plum in the Conservatory is a plummy purple linear holographic with heavy orange shimmers. The shimmer really warms this purple, it's a great cozy fall color! Another flawless formula, two coats. (Plum probably used the rope as his weapon.)
Different Dimension Professor Plum in the Conservatory

Cupcake Polish Mr. Green in the Lounge is a vivid emerald linear holographic with gold shimmers. The shimmer really sparkles, it elevates this to epic level! For real, another super great, easy formula. Two coats here as well. (I think Mr. Green is a lead pipe kinda guy.)
Cupcake Polish Mr. Green in the Lounge

Starrily Miss Scarlett in the Ballroom is a rich scarlet linear holographic with a subtle hint of gold micro shimmer. This one is more jellyish in formula, a little thinner but was very opaque, two coats. The heavy pigmentation of this could cause it to stain your skin, so be careful upon removal. This seemed more like a shimmer indoors, but it gets that nice rainbow fire in bright light. My first Starrily polish and I'm pretty happy with it! (Scarlett definitely used the candlestick for her murder!)
Starrily Miss Scarlett in the Ballroom

The box is $40 and will be available on The Holo Hookup website. The pre-order window for purchasing this box is from Wednesday, September 21th at 9pm EST through Wednesday, September 28th at 9pm EST. Let me know what you think about these four mysterios! Are you a Clue fan too?
