China Glaze - Magnetix

Hey friends :) Hope your weekend is going along nicely. I have been pretty lazy haha. I wanted to show you two of the China Glaze magnetic nail polishes I picked up from the Magnetix collection.

First is Instant Chemistry, a dark purple. The China Glaze magnet is flat and horseshoe shaped and has three designs, stripes, a star burst, and a chevron. This is the weakest magnet I've used so far for magnetic polishes. It works but it takes more time and a precise hand. You'll see I tried all the designs on this color and only some of them are really recognizable. This is a very opaque color and you could get away with one coat.

Here is Attraction, a dark pewter charcoal. This color seems to be a staple in magnetic collections. I used just the star design for this one, as it was the main "attraction" for me to buy these (he, he, he). I like how it turned out, but next time I'll have to center it better.

I've heard that CG is making a second set of magnetic colors coming out soon. I wonder if they'll have more designs and/or a stronger magnet for those. Nails Inc. just came out with a "fishnet" design magnet for a gold magnetic polish that looks really awesome. I got these at Sally Beauty for $9 each, and I got the magnet free with the purchase of two polishes.

You Mix Cosmetics - Magnetic Nail Polishes

I was able to review some magnetic polishes from a burgeoning online store called You Mix Cosmetics this past month. They mostly sell glitters/flakes for use in creating custom nail polishes but they also have a lovely assortment of magnetic polishes. The two polishes I received were both really beautiful and the magnet sent with them was very strong, which is important.

Here is Taupe Entrancement, more of a charcoal or gunmetal than a taupe really. Very sparkly and shiny. The magnet (which I forgot to get a picture of and now cannot find, oops!) that I got had a stripe design, so I rotated it for the different nails to get different patterns. It was a flat piece on a plastic handle, which was ok to use but I would've preferred a lip or edge to rest on my finger so I didn't have to worry about it touching the polish.

This is called Cobalt's Fault, a shimmery vibrant blue. I chose to do horizontal stripes on three nails and a vertical design on the ring finger for a "pop". I really like this color and it and the previous color are both I would wear on it's own, magnet or no magnetic.

Check out You Mix Cosmetics, they have a crazy amount of awesome glitters available. I don't see on their website where you can buy these polishes individually but they sell a "grab bag" of 6 polishes for $19.95 or 12 for $34.95.

Products provided for review.

Icing Magnetix - Green

What's up ninjas? Today I would like to show you my newest favorite magnetic polish. It's from Icing and it doesn't really have a name I don't think, but the color is fabulous! It's mossy metallic goldish green with glittahhh. In case you don't know, magnetic polishes are a newfangled special effects type of nail polish that has metallic particles in it, so when a magnet is held over the nail the iron powder pulls forward toward the surface forming a pattern. Most of the polishes have the special magnet with the design hidden inside on the cap, with a little lip to rest your finger on so your nail gets super close but doesn't touch the magnet itself.
See the little edges? Very convenient.
This cap has a diagonal line design, but there are others like a star design and chevrons, etc. This is two coats of polish, on the second coats I applied the magnet right away after I polished each nail. The magnet on this was super strong, I could actually see the particles forming the design as it happened! I've used way worse magnets and it can be frustrating to work with them.

I love the gittahhh :D You can buy these Magnetix polishes from Icing stores (in most shopping malls) for $9, and they always have a "Buy One, Get One 50% Off" sale on cosmetics.
