Nars Night Series Nail Polish Collection

Here are two polishes from Nars' Night Series, based on the iconic Night Series eyeshadow palette.

Night Porter is a fantastically drool-inducing blackened emerald with green, blue, and gold shimmer flakes, almost glass flake looking. This is seriously ga ga gorgeous, I can't handle it. This one I passed on buying but my sister snatched it up, so I borrowed it to swatch. O.M.G. I can't believe I didn't get it. This is two coats with a topcoat for shine, as it dries dull.

Night Rider (of course, my mind immediately goes to David Hasselhoff) is a greyed pinky lavender jellyish base with plummy pink and silver shimmer flecks. This formula wasn't fantastic but it was acceptable. This is two coats.

Currently these are still available on narscosmetics.com along with Night Flight, the blue polish. It looks like the only one currently unavailable is the black and silver Night Breed. You may also still be able to find these at your local Nars counters. Have a great one dolls!

NARS Desperado

I don't have a lot of NARS nail polishes but I do enjoy the ones I do have. Desperado is the first one I've been excited about in a long time, well the first new one. We all remember the excitement when Zulu was re-released. This polish is an antique brass looking metallic. It says to me spicy mustard, if it was a metallic nail polish that is. It's almost caramel, with a bit more yellow to it.
The formula was typical for a watery metallic, I had a bit of cuticle pull but nothing that wasn't remedied easily. It wasn't streaky which was nice. I was pissed that my topcoat gave me tip pull, damn it. Seche Vite has been my top coat of choice for a while now, I haven't bought a bottle of it in a long time but for some reason I got one so I pretty much should use it yeah.

Nars Zulu and Midnight Express

Cult classics. Vintage. Nars. Need I say more?
Ok, I'll say a bit more :) Any polish girl, hell any girl whose into beauty at all, should know that Nars Zulu is a big damn deal. I think we all just about pooped our pants when we heard that it was going to be re-released this summer. And it has a newer, easier to apply formula than the original. A deep, dark green jelly. *Drools* I can't tell you how excited I was to acquire this polish, for real. When I put it on my fingernails, my eyes almost popped out of my head. I marvel at its beauty. Is it the cult status or the color that makes it so amazing? I'm not sure, maybe a bit of both. Either way, I am very happy to have Zulu. This is three coats.
Midnight Express is another vintage Nars polish, this one I picked up for my sister. Zulu's blue brother, also a gorgeous jelly. I'm not going to lie, I got bubbles when I applied both of these, but I was also rushing to get them on before the sun went down that day haha. This is also three coats. I love this one as well, but I have a few polishes that look a lot like it.
Did you pick up any of the vintage Nars polishes?

nars nail polish

the two nars polishes i own were really big big lemmings for me before i got them. one ended up being everything i wanted and more. the other did a major nose dive and was a disappointment in my opinion. can you guess which is which?

nars purple rain came out this spring. it's a dark jewel toned purple with ribbons of blue and red shimmer throughout. *gah* kill me now i LOVE this polish! oops i spoiled the surprise. yep this is the one i love out of the two in this post. how can you not stand agape and drool at the sight of this baby? this is three coats.

nars versailles was hugely built up in my head, idk why honestly. maybe it's all those amber valletta (love her!) promo pics of the summer collection for nars, but i was dying to have this polish. it's billed as a soft yellow gold with champagne shimmer. yeah i'd say that's pretty accurate. it's just not as pretty as i imagined it would be on my nails. maybe it's just how it looks with my skin tone. oh and it's a frost/metallic leaning more towards frosty. and did i mention it's impossible not to get bubbles in this? i tried this swatch three times, every time ending up with massive bubbles upon bubbles. even with the tiiiniest thinnest coats possible. so i gave up. *sigh* it's a shame, cuz we all know i love gooooold.

modified nars

i was a little bored with my orangey nails, nars orgasm, but didn't feel like doing a whole new color last night so i put nyx sheer nude (dumbest name ever) which is actually a super pink glittery color on the tips. the pay off was pretty super if you ask me :)

notd nars

this is the cult-worthy color from Nars called orgasm, and it is SOOOO beautiful. i had to layer on a few coats cuz i still have some green sludge under my nails from the nasty jumpin' jade fiasco and i had VNL (visible nail line). but i la la love the formula and had no troubles with it! lovely.

*flash, so you can see the golden glow*
*lamp light to bring out the true peach*

when i see the pictures, they remind me of the notd i very first blogged about the peachy orange from charlotte russe, and really they are super close in color. but the latter does not have golden glow. and really, and what is an orgasm without the glow ;)
