Nicole by OPI Coca-Cola Collection Swatches & Review

Hey folks! I have a Nicole by OPI collection to share with you today! This is a collaboration with Coca-Cola that came out this Spring. There are six shades that each correspond with a different flavor of their soda. Let's take a look!

First is Always A Classic Coca-Cola, a glowy warm red metallic. The formula is good, but to avoid brushstrokes be careful not to press down with your brush too hard, do more of a floating motion over the nail and you'll get liquid metal!
Nicole by OPI Always A Classic Coca-Cola

DC Lover is the Diet Coke themed shade, it's a silver foil with small red hex glitters. This one is more sheer, so you can layer it or build it up on its own like I've done here in three coats.
Nicole by OPI DC Lover

This is In Grape Demand, for their Fanta Grape soda. It's a red toned purple crème that covers in two coats. It's on the thin side so be careful not to load up your brush with too much polish or you might get pooling on the sides of your nail.

Seriously Citrus is inspired by Sprite. It is a glitter topper with green, white, blue, pale green and pale blue hex glitters in various sizes in a clear base. I layered one coat over turquoise crème China Glaze Rain Dance the Night Away, which turned out really nice.

The polish made for Fanta Orange is The Look Is Orange. It's a bright crayola orange crème with an ok formula. It was a bit patchy for me on two coats so I used three.

Last is Zero Is My Hero, made to relate to Coke Zero. This is a deep warm cola brown with red microshimmer. This had a fabulous formula, almost a one-coater but I used two.

Nicole by OPI can be purchased from retailers like Target, CVS, Walgreens, Ulta, etc. What do you think of this collection? I'm a Pepsi drinker, Diet if anyone is keeping track, but I can still appreciate these shades for sure haha. They were mostly all lovely, save the orange if I'm honest. I think I have a new favorite red metallic!

Nicole by OPI Roughles Collection Swatches & Review

Howdy friends! Today I'm excited to show you a new limited edition collection from Nicole by OPI called Roughles, pronounced "ruffles". It is a quartet of texture polishes with speckled flecks of color in them. They are totally easter colors, waaay cute! I love the matte roughed up texture to these too, the bits are less defined in shape than some others, more irregular and varied.
kelliegonzo: Nicole by OPI Roughles Collection

First is Rock the Look, a pastel pink with flecks in orangey red and some in grey. I really love this, but I'm naturally a pink lover so I expected that haha. This is two coats. Formula on all of these was quite easy to work with, not too thick and covered easily.
kelliegonzo: Nicole by OPI - Rock the Look

This guy is On What Grounds?, an awesome pastel turquoise with blue and grey flecks. I wore this as a full mani a while ago and got a ton of compliments on it all day. This can stain so double up on your base coat if you're worried about that. Two coats here.
kelliegonzo: Nicole by OPI - On What Grounds?

Here is Sand In My Shoe, a gorgeous pastel yellow with orange speckles. I have a soft spot for pale yellows so this is definitely one of my favorites! Also two coats.

And to round out the foursome we have I'm Stucco On You, a pastel purple with flecks in blue and red. I'm not usually a huge purple lover but this I'm really liking this one! Two coats.

You can purchase Nicole by OPI from stores like Walmart, Target and Kmart for around $8. I hope you can still find them if you haven't gotten them yet as these are limited edition. What do you think of this Spring collection? I'm really head over heels with them, Nicole really hit it outta the park on these.

I wanted to mention that these swatches are the first ones I have taken indoors that I actually like and think are good! Back when I first started blogging and didn't know what I was doing, I only posted flash indoor photos :( It makes me cringe when I even think about it. Then I got a new camera and realized I could take much better pictures using sunlight, then I decided I could only do outdoor shots well and couldn't go backwards. Needless to say this limited my swatching times and decreased my posting. Occasionally I would try indoor shots with my desk lamp but they never were up to my usual standards with sharpness, clarity and color.

I have tried a million different indoor lighting setups but I think I finally found one that works for me. Halleloo! What do you think of these photos?? I still think I prefer sunlight, but this way I will be able to blog more often and that makes me very happy. Thanks for reading as always, and if you haven't already, there's still time to enter the Beauty Blogger Coalition's May Day Giveaway! Until next time friends!

For Gold Times Lizard

Hi everyone! This manicure is inspired by the one actress Lupita Nyong'o wore to the SAG Awards done by Deborah Lippmann in her colors Swagga Like Us and Chain Reaction. I have two similar polishes in my collection, almost dupes but not quite. I used two coats of gold/green duochrome OPI Just Spotted the Lizard from the Spiderman collection and two coats of michroshimmery Nicole by OPI For Gold Times Sake over it to create this blingy gold look.

I'm quite pleased with the result although I think it looks better against Lupita's gorgeous skin tone than mine haha. The OPI I used is more green and less gold than Swagga Like Us and the NOPI is darker and more green than Chain Reaction, but I think it definitely works.

What do you think of this manicure? Do you pay attention to celebrity nails or red carpet looks? I'm totally into them and if you are interested, please participate in the #NailGlossip chat on Twitter during the Grammy's tonight at 9pm EST! Just use that hashtag and you can chat with me and other nail lovers talk about celeb nails during the show, hosted by Chalkboard Nails, All Lacquered Up, and The Polishaholic. Hope to see ya there!

White Owl Lacquers After All This Time Collection

A while ago my friend Mara from the blog Mara in Polishland asked if I could review some polishes from her new indie polish company's first collection. Her brand is called White Owl Lacquers and the first collection is called After All This Time. It's inspired by the Harry Potter universe and I'm ecstatic over them! In case you didn't know, I love HP and everything about the magical world!

First is Dwelling on Dreams, inspired by the wise words of Dumbledore to Harry when he gets wrapped up in the displays from the Mirror of Erised in The Philosopher's Stone. It has a milky white jellyish base with gold and teal glitters. I love the color combination and in three coats it turned out really beautiful.

Next is Phoenix Tears, named for the healing powers of Dumbledore's companion bird Fawkes. It has a clear base with satiny white, silver, green and purple glitters with teal microshimmer. I love the collection of glitters, except the satiny white large hexes, but overly large glitters usually don't thrill me. Otherwise I love this. This is two coats over Nicole by OPI I Sea You and Raise You.

This is called Kittens and Teacups to represent cruel and evil Professor Umbridge, who first appears in The Order of the Phoenix. This has a milky white jelly base with small black squares and satin pink hexes. The base on this was a little more sheer than Dwelling on Dreams unfortunately and seemed to not be as shiny when dry. Also I found myself wanting a little more glitter payoff. Three coats.

Here is Basilisk Venom, which represents the evil snake from Chamber of Secrets. This is a crazy mix of different types of black glitter and orange and yellow hexes with a copper shimmer in a clear base. I love this! Very nice, lots of glitter got on the nail with minimal effort. This is two coats over OPI DS Luxurious.

Pumpkin Pasties is the name of a treat that the kids snack on on their way to Hogwarts on the Hogwarts Express. They sound so yummy! This polish is a peachy pale orange milky jelly with matte hex glitter in brown, red, orange, and yellow. This is the same type of base as Kittens and Teacups, sheerish and not particularly shiny. I can see this being more exciting layered over a peach creme. This is three coats.

And last is Moony, inspired by beloved Professor Lupin, a werewolf (lycanthrope) who first appears in The Prisoner of Azkaban. This has a clear base with tons of black and silver glitter. Very blingy and beautiful! This is two coats over Nicole by OPI Feeling Grapeful.

You can learn more about White Owl Lacquers on their Facebook page. They are sold in their online shop for $9 each. So how much do you love these? Are you a Potterhead like me? I always said I would be a great Ravenclaw!

Random Purple Manicures

I recently got this glitter topper from Candy Lacquer and I had to try it immediately. It's from her winter collection and it's called Sugar Plum Fairy. There are tons of different glitters in pink and purple with some holo pieces, some even in a butterfly shape! I layered two coats here over BB Couture Daring Debutant, from their Formal collection. Freaking hot. Love this over white as well.

Next is Dollish Polish Hylian Princess. Royal purple, white, and gold glittah! I layered two coats over OPI My Very First Knockwurst from the OPI Germany collection.

And last of the random purpleness is more of a pink that pulls purple overall. This is two coats of Lynnderella Boy-Girl Party, a blue, red, purple, pink and silver glitter polish. I LOVE square glitters. There should be more. I layered it over Nicole by OPI Spring Break from the Selena Gomez collection.

You can buy Candy Lacquer at http://www.etsy.com/shop/candylacquer and http://candylacquer.bigcartel.com/ for $8. You can buy Dollish Polish at http://dollishpolish.bigcartel.com/ for $8.75. And last, you can buy Lynnderella polishes at http://myworld.ebay.com/lynnderella-lynnderella/ for $22.50 each. Do you like any of these? Which is your favorite?

Nicole by OPI Kardashian Kolors Collection

This collection came out for the holidays last year, Nicole by OPI Kardashian Kolors. 14 great colors inspired from/created by the Kardashian/Jenner women. I don't know much of anything about the ladies, but I have to say these polishes are pretty fantastic. Sorry I'm just getting around to swatching these now, but better late than never eh?

First up is one of my favorites in the collection, It's All About the Glam. It's a white translucent shade with tons of twinkly white shimmer glitter. Amazingly beautiful. Three coats here.

Kim-pletely in Love is the same type of polish as the previous one, only in a pale pink shade with duochrome shimmer bits. Beautiful but a bit streaky. Three coats.

This is called All Kendall-ed Up, a bright saturated hot pink crème. This is not unique but it's a great basic and essential color to have in your collection. Two coats.

Kourt is Red-y For a Pedi is an uber bright coral red. This one has a fab jelly crème finish. Another not super unique polish but absolutely gorgeous. Two coats.

This is Hard-Kourt Fashionista. Dumb name, sorry. This is a deep dark chocolate brown crème. Two coats.

This is called Sealed With a Kris, again terrible name. I suppose they tried every way possible to sneak in their names huh? Jelly wine red. This is beautiful in person, I liked it better than I expected. Three coats.

Khloe had a Little Lam-Lam is a deep dark teal. Very pretty and flattering, though in this photo it washes me out a bit. I'm not even going to comment on the names anymore *rolls eyes* Two coats.

This one is called My Empire...My Rules. This guy is a mousey taupey grey. Awesome formula, two coats. (I hate this photo because of the fugly thumbprint on the bottle. Eww.)

Glitters yay! This is Rainbow in the S-Kylie, a dupe for OPI Rainbow Connection. Multi-colored, varying sizes of hex shaped and round glitter. This is three coats.

Here is a stunner, Listen To Your Momager! This polish is a bright navy blue with gallons of bright blue metallic shimmer. Much prettier than some of the other metallic shimmery blues I've seen from NOPI. Two coats here.

Wear Something Spar-Kylie is a reddish pink base with lots and lots of silver glitter pieces, small and micro. Really lovely. This is three coats.

This is Disco Dolls, a glitter bomb that is definitely unique to my collection. It's an orangey gold microglitter with larger round multicolored glitter accents. I can't say I love this one but it is definitely unique. Three coats.

Follow Me on Glitter (ugh) is kin to Disco Dolls, in a smokey silver shade. The base is somewhat tinted which is nice, it makes it easier to get opaque. There is heavy silver microglitter and those round multicolored accent glitters. This is three coats.

And last is Kendall on the Katwalk. Name not withstanding, this is probably my favorite glitter in the collection. The main color of glitter, slightly larger than the microglitters, is lovely jewel tinted blue. There is a rich sea green secondary glitter in there along with the teeniest hints of purple. This is three coats.

I don't know if they still sell all of these regularly in stores, but you might be able to snag a few in Target or CVS, etc. I'm sure you wouldn't have trouble finding them online. Do you have any of the polishes in this collection? I'm gonna try never to get this far backed up on a collection again haha. Still love me?

Nicole by OPI Walmart Exclusives for 2012

Another set of Nicole by OPIs today! These are new for 2012, exclusive to Walmart. You got a shimmer, a foil and a crazy glitter. Hold on to your hats folks!

Here is Best Pink Ever, that's the name not my personal opinion haha. This is a thin magenta pink with blue shimmer and glass flecks. Very interesting finish. This is two coats. You can see the edge is looking like it's shrunk from topcoat, but I didn't use any, it's just the formula is very thin. I like it better than I thought I would looking at the bottle, but it's still not my "best pink ever" by far.

The Gold Shoulder is not gold. I'm not sure what they were going for on the name. This is a foil metallic silver with almost imperceptible bronze bits. It is REALLY metallic, take a look at the bottle! Weird huh. It looked like that each time I flippen moved it. This is a miss for me. Two coats here.

And the saving grace of the trio is "Fabulous" Is My Middle Name. Gorgeous thin bar glitter in red, blue, purple and silver with silver microglitter. Love. I again am surprised to see this funky polish from such a big name brand, which is awesome. I have come to really enjoy bar glitter, before I never really tried it and thought it looked weird but I am happy I have. This is three coats.

Here is two coats of "Fabulous" over Di-Vine is Divine. I love this combination.

You can purchase these from your local Walmart for around $7.00. Any favorites guys?

Nicole by OPI Target Exclusives for 2012

Hi there and hello! Today I have to show you four new Nicole by OPI nail polish shades for 2012 that are exclusive to Target. I believe they came out around March this year.

First up is Great Minds Pink Alike. This is a sheerish jelly coral tinged pink with violet glass fleck shimmer. I love this one on my fingernails, but wore it as a pedi and it just wasn't as pretty for some reason. This is three coats.

Purple Yourself Together is a medium bright grape purple with gallons of heavy gold shimmer. I believe this to be very similar to Sephora by OPI Hell to the No from the Glee collection, but I think this is more sheer and more of a brighter purple base. This is three coats.

That's Totally Red-ical is a bright raspberry red with super subtle silver shimmer. This one is uber bright and very flattering. I tend to like these more than straight out primary reds I think. Two coats here.

The next shade should be Look at Me, Look at Me, a silver and multicolored glitter polish released for Target with the others, but for some reason I was sent a different one instead haha. Oops ;) This is honestly gorgeous and so I had to show it to you anyway. Di-vine is Divine is a smooth berry purple metallic with red glimmer. Not sure when it was released but I found swatches online from back in 2010 so *shrug* This is two coats.

You can get these at your local Target :) Hope you enjoyed these swatches and we'll talk again real soon.
