ocean love potion

my gorgeous fantastic sister Clarrisa got me this polish from sephora on one of her many business trips with her company, Nu Skin. she gets to go freaking everywhere, she's been to Hong Kong and all over the states. hopefully she'll get to go to Africa (Malawi) soon, where the company's charity organization Force For Good has one project called "Seeds of Hope" that she personally helped conceive. she's pretty much amazing.

anyway, back to the awesome polish she got me! this is sephora by opi's ocean love potion. it is a medium dusty teal/turquoise color that i fell head over heels with. i hear it is a tad darker than misa's dirty sexy money but pretty close. sephora's website describes it as "a sensuous shade inspired by the gorgeous meeting of sea and sky in Capri" [sephora.com] and i have to agree haha. very Mediterranean. i wore this color in winter and i will wear it in summer. awesome formula, i love them SOPIs! this is two coats.

in direct sun
have a happy thursday kids!

fun photo vote

hellooo dear blog readers! so i've mentioned a few times before that my lovely older sister Clarrisa works for a cosmetics/nutrition/skincare multilevel marketing company called NuSkin that is based here in Utah but is spread throughout the world (they're big in asia and europe). i love their nail polish, but sadly it is discontinued, but i do swatches from time to time. anyway, they have a product out right now called the Galvanic Spa used with ageLOC gels that does a lot of fancy science stuff to your face that makes your skin amazing and i guess does this thing to stop free radicals and junk from making you age...i think haha. anyway it's dope and i love it. it's pretty much amazing and i do it like once a week at least, you can also use different gels for your body for slimming and toning and even on your scalp for hair growth.
welll....the POINT is that my sister's team is doing an ageLOC Mother/Daughter or Sisters "Best Shot" photo contest on the nuskin website and you can go there and take a look at pictures of people who use the system and vote for the best pair. it's pretty cool and fun to see the mothers & daughters who look like they could be sisters :) i hope with the help of ageLOC gels i'll be lookin that good when i get old!! so if you'd like to, visit the link HERE and vote for the best one. i know me & my sister would appreciate it! (p.s. we're not on there anywhere haha, so don't worry about looking for me!)

new notd's

'ello mateys! so i am on an official no buy binge starting yesterday :( cuz this chick is getting outta hand. i'm a poor college kid and this buy every nail polish in sight thing is getting seriously craaaazy. anyway, before i pledged this, i picked up opi's matte alpine snow and matte la paz-itively hot and ordered sephora's glittery blue shade that is similar to essie's starry starry night (which hasn't come yet). anyway, i haven't mastered the technique to the matte shades yet cuz LPH was super hard for me to get right and was all chunky so i sloughed it all off and tried alpine snow. (which is why you see some residual pink around my cuticles, ewww)so that lasted for about a day, then i got bored of it, even though it is prettier than i figured it would be and i didn't have any chip issues even tho it is sans base and top coats, i put on a few layers of Nucolor NC2 Pear Hug, which is a super shimmery frosty light green shade. super cute, but i had some streaky issues.the pedi i've been rocking for the last week or so has been solid essie flirty fuchsia, but i decided to shake it up a bit and make it a funky french. i bought the matte alpine snow mainly as a way to do better french manicures because they are supposed to dry faster. and in that it's already an investment well worth it right?! because it did dry super quck and didn't chip at all :)
remember to click on the pics to make them bigger!

cherry whisper notd

hello hello readers! it's a nice cool evening here in the west US and i'm feeling a nail post coming on. i did this mani last night and have gotten so many positive comments on it i HAVE to post pics. i wasn't going to, not because it's not amazing or anything, but because it's a NuSkin NC2 polish that is discontinued. and really REALLY what is the point of putting out the pictures of something beautiful and fun and lustworthy if someone can't go out and get their hands on a bottle of it after reading about it??? well, i guess nothing. except amusement. so here goes, nothing special except a beautiful frosty hot princess pink. the color is actually darker and more fuchsia than the picture makes it seem but eh what can you do. no sunlight. the application is so flawless with this brand, thin and bubble-free. the color is called cherry whisper, ta da!

eww the side of my cuticle looks so chomped and heinous, sorry sorry <3

obsessssed w/ nails

ok so this first one is called Typhoon by nucolor, which sadly NuSkin doesn't make anymore. my sister works for them and we have a HUGE stash of NC2 colors but hopefully i don't get too attached to any of them cuz i'm never going to be able to find them again :( anyway, this nail formula is super easy to apply, very thin but opaque. Typhoon is a frosty color that looks darker than this picture, but the flash was on. i put some konad on the thumb and index, but it's hard to see it on the thumb. i used Out the Door quick dry top coat over two coats of color.the next look i did this past week was called Grape Crush by nucolor, again discontinued. this was seriously the loudest color i have worn on my fingernails in FOREVER! and wearing it to work made me self conscious even though i can pretty much wear whatever i want and we're laid back, it was still weird haha. the photo makes it look more violet but the color is seriously purple, like grape Slurpee purple. this was SUPER easy to apply, super creamy thin formula. i used Double Duty base coat by Sally Hansen, Out the Door top coat and opi Drip Dry nail drops over three coats of this (even tho two coats would've worked).i actually did another look in between these nails with opi design series, which was a holo shimmer taupe brown which is seriously gorgeous, but ended up ruining them yesterday before i got to take any pics. i was at my sister's watching Oprah and promised to do her nails so w/o thinking i jump into it with the cotton and remover and whoops there goes my manicure. i ended up using the two colors i used for her fingers and tootsies on my fingers. idk if you'll ever see a pic of my toes, they might be too hideous, we'll see :)

the pink is from charlotte russe, bought at the same time as the peachy orange color featured when i first blogged about nails. i was super disappointed in the formula, way chunkier and thick than the orange and it was hard to work with so it started drying way streaky. it ended up looking ok (on me, my sister's are worse haha) after three coats and a top coat (cuz these dry semi-matte weird) but idk if i'll use this polish again anytime soon. although i have gotten a lot of compliments, it maybe because this is a super noticeable bright color haha. the blue/green color is the new cult favorite by china glaze called Dear Audrey, made for Audrey Hepburn. supposed to be an impression of Tiffany blue, w/o actually being Tiffany blue because it is copyrighted. i wore a shirt that matched the blue exactly today so it was pretty dope. i used two coats of the Dear Audrey. base coat was diamond shine by sally hansen and top coat was insta-dry by sally hansen.
i'm still getting the hang of the photography part of this so bear with me :)
