Potion Polish Magic of Christmas Collection Swatches & Review

I can't believe it's December y'all, it's been one crazy year! I've welcomed the snow and the cold weather, but I'm sure I'll be sick of it soon haha. Is it cold where you are? Any-who, I've got another awesome indie holiday collection for you today, it's the Potion Polish Magic of Christmas collection! And spoiler alert...it's my favorite collection they've ever done!

Christmas Cheer is a deep plummy purple with a blue sheen that shifts from a dark violet to a magenta cherry red to a cobalt blue with holographic flakes mixed in. This is a gorgeous shade and I was sad to take it off! Good formula, a touch on the runny side, but you get the right amount on your brush and you're set! This is two coats.
Potion Polish Christmas Cheer

Snowmelt is a fosty winter blue with added silver flakes and a soft holographic effect. This formula knocked my wooly winter socks off! Effortless to paint with, opaque in just two coats!
Potion Polish Snowmelt

Very Merry is a deep cranberry holographic with added twinkles of gold glitter. Stellar and super simple formula, two coats for coverage. This reminds me of a yummy bowl of cranberry sauce, with holo!
Potion Polish Very Merry

Define Naughty is a light creamy beige with a soft holographic effect. This shade was very easy to apply for such a light color, and it was more opaque than I expected! I used two coats here.
Potion Polish Define Naughty

All Decked Out is a peachy warm rose gold jelly stuffed with holographic flakes. Nice and easy formula, no issues here. I found it looked great at two coats but you can make it even more opaque by using one more layer. Those holo sparks are dazzling eh?
Potion Polish All Decked Out

Morning Mocha has a dark chocolatey base filled with strong copper shimmer and golden bronze chrome flakes. Another great formula, no fuss here! Two coats for full opacity. This guy dries a bit dull so you'll want a shiny top coat.
Potion Polish Morning Mocha

Even Santa Loves Pink is an adorable soft pink leaning slightly lavender holographic with gold accents. Can you believe it, this one is great too! Two easy dreamy coats. I'm head over heels for this, I always like pink at Christmas time!
Potion Polish Even Santa Loves Pink

Holly Bough is rich dark green holographic with some glimmery gold chrome flakes. It was very smooth and lovely, just glides on the nail. I used two coats here.
Potion Polish Holly Bough

This collection is available now on the Potion Polish website. They range in price from $10.00 - $10.75 each. Let me know what you think of these shades! They really hit it out of the park for me, I'm in love with every shade!

Potion Polish Fall 2016 Hoodies & Hayrides Collection Swatches & Review

I'm back with another fall/halloween-ish collection, this time from indie brand Potion Polish! The Hoodies & Hayrides collection for fall 2016 is a seven piece set featuring some shades from their last year's fall and Halloween collections, revamped with updated formulas. Let's have a look! And please stay tuned until the end of the post for a special surprise!

First Frost is a warm grey crelly with red/copper duochrome shimmer. This applied nicely, it was a bit sheer on the first coat, which necessitated three layers. I'm in love with this, reminds me of sunset on a grey, cloudy day.
Potion Polish First Frost

Costume Party is a witchy black jelly with purple shimmer and a pinch of green-gold glitter. This is a returning shade from last year's Halloween quartet. Sure to be a hit again, this is very Halloween-esque. I also needed three coats for this guy for full coverage.
Potion Polish Costume Party

Pumpkin All The Things is a smoldering red-orange holographic with a sprinkle of gold holo glitter added. This guy practically applied itself, such a great formula. Two coats.
Potion Polish Pumpkin All The Things

Dark Magic is an ultra vampy midnight purple packed with delicate holographic flakes. A more opaque jelly, this one covered in just two coats. I love that we're seeing more polishes made with holo flakes, which I am head over heels for!
Potion Polish Dark Magic

Harvest Moon is a multichrome that shifts between red, copper, gold and olive green and is packed with gold holo microglitter. Another excellent formula, opaque in two coats.
Potion Polish Harvest Moon

I included an indirect light shot to show how dramatically this one shifts.
Potion Polish Harvest Moon

Poltergeist Heist is another returning shade from last year's Halloween set, a violet purple jelly with iridescent orange and purple glitter, scattered holo and a blue/red shifty shimmer. I used my bottle from last year for this swatch, but I am told the new formula is better and opaque in 2-3 coats. I used three here.
Potion Polish Poltergeist Heist

Marvelous Maple is a rich autumnal gold holographic with gold glitter and gold micro flakes. This was super close to being opaque in two but I layered on one more. Great, easy to use formula.
Potion Polish Marvelous Maple

These are available now on the Potion Polish website for $10.00-$11.50 each. What do you think about this sparkly fall collection?

As a special treat, I wanted to give away two new bottles of Costume Party and Poltergeist Heist, as these are the colors from this collection that I already had last year's versions of. Potion Polish Stormwatch Duo Swatches & Review

Hello dear friends and happy September! I have some lacquers from indie brand Potion Polish to share with you today, their new Stormwatch duo! I'm always excited to see what they come out with next, I haven't disliked a color I've tried from them yet!

Cloudburst is a steely blue grey scattered holographic that shifts to a navy blue, and is packed with glimmering gold holo glitters and a light pink shimmer. This was very close to being a one coater, but I needed two to cover 100%. Great, easy formula. Dries a tad dull so you'll want a top coat for intense shine.
Potion Polish Cloudburst

Tempest is a moody blackened purple holographic with holo flakes and a light pink shimmer. This is super opaque and goes on like butter, it's a one coater! I did two coats like always though. Dries dull but positively gleams with a shiny top coat.
Potion Polish Tempest

The duo is releasing Friday, September 2nd at 1pm EST on the Potion Polish website. For the first 72 hours they will be $1 off each; $11 each afterwards. Let me know what you think about these gorgeous holos!

Potion Polish Dutchess Limited Edition Swatch & Review

Hi there friends! I've been a little under the weather, summer sickness is the worst eh? But I wanted to share this new Potion Polish color with you today. Dutchess is a limited edition shade, a muted vintage pink base with gold shimmer, pink/green/bronze chrome flakes and a soft holographic effect throughout. It pulled rather lavender with my skin tone but it's definitely a pink.

The formula of this was excellent, very easy to apply and creamy. Fully opaque in two coats. This limited edition color will be available on the Potion Polish website on August 12th at 11am EST for $11. What do you think of this girl? I'll see you again soon with more polish :)

Potion Polish Summer In New York Collection Swatches & Review

Today I have the newest collection from indie brand Potion Polish, the Summer in New York collection! A few of my blogging besties are posting their swatches & reviews of this collection today also, so please be sure to check out their blog posts (links at the bottom)!

Central Park Peonies is a warm watermelon pink crelly filled with holographic flakes. This applied easily and was opaque on two coats.
Potion Polish Central Park Peonies

Manhattan Skyline is an indigo jelly packed with red shimmer and shifting aqua-blue opalescent flakies. The formula was easy to apply, not gummy like some jellies can get. I used three coats here.
Potion Polish Manhattan Skyline

Coney Island Coaster is a bright, light aqua with shifty glass fleck shimmer and holographic microglitter. This one seemed chunkier upon application than I expected from looking at it in the bottle. Not difficult, but different. I used three coats for this guy. There is a really pretty pink shift to this color that shows up a lot more in real life than it chose to in my photo.
Potion Polish Coney Island Coaster

Rooftop Movies is a medium blurple (more purple to me) crelly with holographic flakes and pink glass fleck glitter. This went on well, similar to Peonies in formula, and opaque in two coats.
Potion Polish Rooftop Movies

Times Square is a dark teal blue jelly filled with holographic glitter and a sprinkle of shifting shimmer that turns from blue to pink. I was also pleased with the formula on this, it spread on the nail nicely and wasn't gummy. I used three coats to completely cover my nail line.
Potion Polish Times Square

And as an extra, I'm including Liberty from the recent Potion Polish Independence Day collection. She's a cornflower blue crelly with silver flakes and a touch of scattered holographic bits. Awesome, easy formula, opaque in two coats.
Potion Polish Liberty

The Summer In New York colors are releasing July 22 at 1pm EST on the Potion Polish website. They are all priced at $11.00. Liberty is available now for $10. Let me know what you think about these shades! And please be sure to check out my friends' posts on this collection: Nail Polish Society, Peachy Polish and Very Emily.

Potion Polish The Dunes Collection Swatches & Review

An indie brand I was just getting to know last year closed their shop right after the holidays, and I was really sad to see them go. I had been so impressed with the polishes I had tried from them! But luckily it was just temporary, because they're back! Potion Polish has put out five desert themed shades for their new limited edition Dunes collection. And I love them!

Mirage is a sandy linear holographic with silver and gold holo glitter and gold micro flakies. This has really great coverage, opaque in two coats. The rainbow effect from the holo is insane! Like seriously firey!
Potion Polish Mirage

Shimmering Flats is a pale mushroomy mauve toned crelly filled with scattered holo, pink to green shifting chrome flakies and pink holo glitter. I have tried similar polishes, but I don't mind because this is a great one. Applies like butter and opaque in two coats.
Potion Polish Shimmering Flats

Desert Moon is an angelic ultra pale crelly with silver holo flakes and glitter in various sizes. This has a ton of goodies in it so it goes on a little chunky, but levels out well. This is two coats. There is a tiny bit of bumpiness due to the glitter, so you'll need a thick top coat.
Potion Polish Desert Moon

Wild Wastes is a pale peach crelly with pink-green-gold color shifting chrome flakies and hot pink shimmer. Another really great formula, only two coats on this one as well.
Potion Polish Wild Wastes

Sunsoaked is a toasty gold shimmer packed with gold micro flakies and pink holo glitter that flashes iridescent. This seemed sheer on the first coat but I only needed two here. You might see tiny areas of see-through-ness in the picture but in person there is so much glitz and bling, it looks totally opaque.
Potion Polish Sunsoaked

These will be available for purchase on the Potion Polish website today, May 13th at 1pm EST. They are all limited edition and $11 each, except for the first two day where they will be $1 off! Are you intrigued by these beigey-neutral glimmery shades? Let me know what you think!

Potion Polish Holiday 2015 Festive Fancies Collection Swatches & Review

Hi there! I have a new collection from indie brand Potion Polish to share with you today called Festive Fancies. This nine piece Holiday collection features lots of glitter, with a mix of jelly, crelly, holographic, and clear bases.

Let's Get Elf'd Up is a deep burgundy holographic mixed with tiny blue glitter throughout. This is an intensely pigmented shade, a little thin but really opaque. The holo aspect has a nice mix of linear and scattered bits. This is two coats.
Potion Polish Let's Get Elf'd Up

Silver Skates is a dense combination of silver flakes, silver and light blue holographic glitter in various sizes and shapes. This is substantial enough to be a stand-alone polish, and though you probably could layer it, it would most likely cover up the underlying polish a lot. It was a little thick, but wasn't difficult to use and it dried quickly. I used two coats but you might need three.
Potion Polish Silver Skates

Mistletoe Smooches is a "Christmas Tree" green linear holographic with a bunch of gold holographic glitter added. I am head over heels with this, green and gold is one of my favorite combinations! Great opacity and easy to apply. This is two coats.
Potion Polish Mistletoe Smooches

Snow Day has a bright white crelly base with blue metallic flakies, blue shimmer and light blue glitters hexes and squares. This had a pretty opaque white for a base, more so than most white crellies I have. It was a little thick but not too difficult to manipulate. This is three coats.
Potion Polish Snow Day

Pretty Pink Tree is a light pink linear holographic with a touch of lavender, with rose gold holo glitter added in various sizes. Another more unique combination, and so beautiful. This was great to apply and very easy, two coats here as well.
Potion Polish Pretty Pink Tree

Reindeer Tracks is a holiday glitter mix of circles and hexes in red, gold and green glitter in various sizes and a sprinkle of gold and silver dust in a clear base. I put one coat over OPI Christmas Gone Plaid. This was easy to get a lot of glitter on the nail without trying and was nice to apply without having to manipulate the pieces. I like the addition of gold in this festive glitter topper!
Potion Polish Reindeer Tracks

No Peeking! is a deep eggplant purple crelly with a splash of scattered holographic glitter and a pinch of blue iridescent glitter. I found this one on the thicker side and a little difficult to spread. This is two thick coats. If you can manage thinner coats, you may need three.
Potion Polish No Peeking!

Treetop Angel is a pale gold holographic with gold metallic flakies. This went on really easily and dried super fast. I only needed two coats for this. This is a unique combination that I haven't seen before. I love gold!
Potion Polish Treetop Angel

On the Nice List is a lustrous sapphire blue with a strong gold shimmer and gold holographic glitters in varying sizes. This applied well, but was a teensy bit brushstrokey. I feel like the glitters get out shown by the in-your-face shimmer, but I liked the night sky effect it has. Two coats here.
Potion Polish On the Nice List

This collection will be available for purchase on Friday, December 4th at 3pm EST on the Potion Polish website. They will range in price from $8.50 to $9.00 each, with the complete collection selling for $70.00. I'm glad to have found Potion Polish, they are a great indie brand! I really like the set as a whole, it feels very cohesive while providing some uniqueness for the holiday season. My picks are Mistletoe Smooches, Pretty Pink Tree, and Reindeer Tracks. Tell me which ones you would pick!

**UPDATE: I just learned that these are available for pre-order today!! Go to www.potionpolish.com to get your order in!

Potion Polish Dreaming of the Islands Collection [Partial] Swatches & Review

Hi friends! Today I have two shades to show you from indie brand Potion Polish's Summer collection, Dreaming of the Islands. They are similar, but not dupes. Nope. And I needed BOTH of them. I was graciously gifted these from the brand creator when she sent their Halloween collection for review. I have had a hole in my coral-loving heart for a while; I've been looking for a coral nail polish exactly like this with that unique neon and sparkle component to no avail. So I was ecstatic to see these beauties were alive and well, just waiting for me from Potion Polish! Did they live up to my expectations? Let's see!

Electric Bikini is described as a "vibrant red-leaning coral crelly with soft holo and a dusting of gold sparkle". This is the darker of the two corals, a little more neon, and it's slightly more red while the other is more orange. The formula is a little thick but that makes it nice and opaque. This is two easy coats.
Potion Polish Electric Bikini

Papaya Sunrise is a "peachy orange crelly with a blush-toned linear holo flash". This to me has the same lovely subtle holo sparkle, with a lighter color and less of a neon punch, but it's still there. The crelly formula is a little less thick on this one than Electric Bikini, but it was still nice and opaque in two coats.
Potion Polish Papaya Sunrise

So even though these colors are pretty similar, I love them both and am so glad to have them because I'm coral-crazy! These are on sale right now for $6 each on www.PotionPolish.com, along with the rest of the Summer collection. I might need to pick up the rest of them considering these two were so great! Have you checked out this brand yet? I just saw a sneak peek of their mid-fall collection on their Facebook page and it looks excellent! Talk to you again soon!

Potion Polish Halloween 2015 Collection Swatches & Review

Hey friends! I'm back today with another Halloween collection, this time from indie brand Potion Polish! This is a new-to-me brand and I was definitely not disappointed with my first shades from them. Let's see the pretties!

Pumpkin Fizzy is a bright orange jelly packed with orange holographic glitter in various sizes, gold micro flakies and a hint of holographic dust. I found this easy to apply and I was able to get a good amount of glitter out without trying. This is a very pigmented shade and the brand warns that it may stain, but I didn't have any issues. Two coats.
Potion Polish Pumpkin Fizzy

Costume Party is a witchy deep black jelly polish that has a great gorgeous eggplant purple shimmer and some sprinkles of green-gold holographic glitter bits. This was thin on the first coat, but was completely opaque in two coats. I love the metallic shimmer in this, it seems like a galaxy inside the jelly!
Potion Polish Costume Party

Warts n' All is a fantastic matte chartreuse glitter in a glowing holographic base with pea green holo glitter and gold micro flakies. This also went on very easily with a lot of glitter payoff. This shade reminds me of a crazy glittery pickle! I am so in love with this, I think I may be wearing it on Halloween this year! Another shade that Potion Polish warns can possibly stain so double up on your base coat just in case. I used two coats.
Potion Polish Warts n' All

Poltergeist Heist is a fiery violet purple jelly with iridescent orange glitter, scattered holographic bits, purple metallic and holo glitter in various sizes with an elsuive ghostly blue shimmer. Whew, this polish is complex! It's a little thick, could get gummy if you use too heavy of a layer. I used three thin coats here.
Potion Polish Poltergeist Heist

All of these did have a distinct kind of chemical smell, similar to but not nearly as strong or offensive as Kleancolor polishes. I have two more shades from this brand to try and they do not have the smell, so it might be just this batch. I enjoy the bottle shape and size they use, it's very close to the Nine Zero Lacquer bottle type. The brush was nice and wide but not too thick or thin. They are in 12mL bottles which is just slightly smaller than mainstream brands like OPI which are 15mL.

These are available now on the Potion Polish website for $9 each or $32 for the set of four. Tell me what you think about these gorgeous spooky shades! What are you wearing on your nails this Halloween??
