Hey guys! Today I have a fun drugstore polish I bought recently to show you, it's by Pure Ice which is sold in Walmart. This is called Pure Icicles and it's part of their holiday glitter collection for this year. It's mostly silver microglitter with matte white hex and small round glitters in a clear base. This might be seen as primarily a layering polish but I wanted to see it on it's own. This is two coats.
It's really lovely and unique to my collection. I don't think that I would like this if the larger glitter was shiny, but the fact that the glitter is matte changes the whole look and turns into a fab winter scene on my nails! If you usually pass by the Pure Ice displays in your store, stop and take a second look! Plus they are only $1.97! What do you think of this silvery gem? Do you like drugstore polishes?
I also wanted to give a short review on the Pure Ice brand quick dry top coat called Girl On the Run. I had been having some issues with pretty much all of my regular go-to top coats a few months ago, it seemed like nothing was working for me anymore. I was getting shrinkage, bubbles and streaking; I still can't figure out why, maybe it was the weather at the time. I was trying every top coat I could get my hands on to find something that worked. So on a whim I tried Girl On the Run and it is awesome! It is thick but not too thick, dries really fast, doesn't ever cause shrinkage on me, and just works! Also it's so cheap and readily available that I never have to worry about being without it. Seriously...try it!
Thank you for coming by today!

Nail Art with Megan - Stripes & Roses
Please enjoy another guest post from my sister Megan, she's recreated an awesome vintage rose and stripe design this time!
--
Hey all, I'm back with another nail art design to tickle your fancy. This one combines two of my favorite things; roses, which I am a total addict for--the way they look and the scent, and what I consider the iconic Burton-esque style, black and white stripes. In my first post I mentioned how I do a ton of Google and YouTube searches for inspiration and I was lucky enough to stumble upon this perfection of a design from qtplace.com. I fell in love the second I saw it and knew I had to try this look for myself.
I made the stripes using Wet n' Wild Black Creme over one coat of Wet n' Wild French White Creme using a small nail art brush. The base color of the roses is medium pink Pure Ice Flirt Alert and the petal details were done in light pink Pure Ice Love. For the leaves I used bright green Pure Ice Free Spirit, which added the perfect finishing detail. I finished off with KBShimmer Clearly On Top top coat. This design is the closest I've ever some to 100% recreating another's design and I think I did pretty well! I absolutely love the result.
Big thanks to my awesome sis for letting me come back, much love until next time!

I was head over heels in love with this design when Megan showed it off to me and I think it is so well executed! I really thought she was wearing nail stickers at first. What do you think of this design? Would you try it out on yourself? Talk to you soon friends!

nyx las vegas is a sexy green that covers well in two coats. i usually like weird bottle shapes but the nyx bottle turns me off :/ oh well this color is so hawt! a must have.
sinful colors soul mate is a lovely medium pink with not much remarkableness, but i totally love it. goes really well with any skin tone and is a very work appropriate shade. this is two coats.
pure ice is a walmart brand polish that comes out with pretty great colors, i don't know why i don't have more of them actually. this is one of my favorites, twinkle. it's a mango orangey coral with gold orange shimmer. two coats :)
icing skinny dip is another lovely work appropriate shade that is rather unremarkable but still called enough to me to buy it so i obviously liked it, haha. it's a nice light pale pink with subtle shimmer. this is two coats. i remember this one being a bit thick.
essie lolipop is a stunner, and one of my very favorite jellies ever. it's a red WHAM POW shade that essie really set the bar on. this is two coats on my nubbins.
china glaze's midnight ride is part of the rodeo diva collection, my favorite collection ever. it's a dark and glowy purple that is kin to gussied up green and rodeo fanatic. adore this! two coats.
sinful colors plunie plum is kind of a weird unique mauve color. i really love this frosty shade. it was very flattering on my skin tone. i made it matte with china glaze's matte magic topcoat and it was even prettier. two coats.
color club feel the beat is an orangey red almost marbled polish that came from the the musique collection color club put out a while ago. i got this as a present from my dear friend niki aka magic maid. thanks girl! this is three coats.
maybelline wet shine series were some of the best polishes ever! so cute and very wearable. this one is called peach gleam. another polish i got from miss niki, on a blog sale. this is three coats.
catrice is a european brand but i got this from my stateside friend miss ange-marie on a blog sale. soft lilac is a gorgeous shimmery pale purple that is really beautiful and classic. this is three coats.
new york summer aramanth is probably the ultimate grass green jelly out there. if you are a green lover, you need this polish. kind of a problem child for application, but the old school jellies usually are. this is four coats.
sinful colors you just wait looks like the topcoat that was left out of the zoya reverie collection, i mean if there was one. sheer pink wash with gold shimmer and not really my usual style, for some reason this baby just called to me. three coats and still very sheer looking, in real life there is almost enough shine and shimmer to look totally covered! i adore this and it would look great layered i'm sure.
*whew* hope that wasn't too much for ya on this gorgeous (rainy) sunday :) love ya!

barielle polishes pt. 2
this is the second installment in the awesome borrow-ment of the barielle polishes i embarked on a while ago :D

make it a latte
blackened blue (full mani)

i saw two of the barielle's that looked remarkably similar to two pure ice's i happened to have purchased the day before i borrowed them all and decided to do some comparison swatching.
get mauve-ing vs. pure ice taupe drawer
i think get mauveing has a bit more purple where taupe drawer leans more red/pink but they're too close for an untrained eye to catch.
u-concrete me vs. pure ice kiss me here
the barielle is slightly more blue and opaque while the pure ice is more of a true gray. i say save your money on both of the above, and get the pure ice versions because the formula was easier to work with and $2 compared to $8 (+ s&h probably) isn't really a comparison to me ;) but of course, you should decide for yourselves and that's what these swatches are here for (also my enjoyment/boredom haha). take care chica bonitas!
