Zoya Naturel Satins Collection Swatches & Review

Hey guys! Today I am bringing you Zoya's transitional season-between-winter-and-spring collection, the Naturel Satins. The finish of these are satin, meaning a hybrid of matte and shiny. They're not glossy, but there's still a hint of shine there. It's not chalky matte, but almost rubbery looking. There is kind of an eggshell texture to them too.

I have heard a lot of people had a tough time with the formulas of these, but I had a ridiculously good experience. They all applied easily and completely on two coats for me. They spread easily, dried quickly but not too much that they pulled up. And I found they self-leveled nicely so they appear very even. I didn't use a top coat with these, as recommended. I can't speak to anyone's experience but mine, and I really loved these.

First is Ana, described by Zoya as a "light, toasted almond." I see this as a slightly pink tinted pale beige. Super lovely and a perfect work appropriate shade.

Next is Brittany, introduced as a "rose mauve". I would agree with that and say it's very pale and slightly dusty. I wore this as a full mani and just adore the way it looks with my skin tone.

This one is Leah, said to be a "lavender tinged taupe". I would've said this was a blanched grey taupe but do see a little hint of lavender when I put it next to a true grey.

Rowan is a "suede taupe" satin, according to Zoya. I'd call this a medium/light taupe with a drop more of brown. I like this one a lot, it's kinda edgy.

Next we have Sage, a "mossy sage green". This is seriously gorgeous in pale satin form.

Last is Tove, described as a "misty slate grey". This pulled really blue on me but retained it's grey-ness. It must be a grey kinda season for nail polish, and I'm loving it!

These are available on Zoya's website for $9 each. I didn't expect to fall in love so hard with this collection. I've always enjoyed neutrals, but this new finish just pushed them over the edge for me. SO great and I hope they put out more colors as "satins". Have you tried these yet? Which shade is your favorite? If I had to pick, it'd be Brittany, but I'm glad I don't have to!

Love ya, mean it!

OPI Miss Universe 2013 Collection Swatches & Review

Hi friends! How is your 2014 treating you?? I'm hoping to blog a lot more this year than last year. My daily life has settled down and life isn't as crazy as it was there for a while (knock on wood!) so I'm hoping to devote a lot more time to things on here!

I have the OPI Miss Universe collection from 2013 to show you today, it came out in October of last year in celebration of the pageant that was held November 9. It is a trio of two purple cremes and a satiny silver shimmer that included a cute little crown ring on a clear band.

I'm Feeling Sashy is a mediumish dusty purple mauvey color. Very pretty and I liked how it looked against my skin tone more than I anticipated which was nice. The formula was thin but creamy and it covered in two coats.

Miss You-niverse is a dark purple creme with blue undertones. I don't love this but I usually don't favor blue-toned purples so I figured. It's a nice even formula and it's opaque in two coats.

And last is This Gown Needs a Crown, a silver foil that dries down to a matte satin finish. This is borderline holographic, an interesting shade and finish. I think the gold color that's coming out soon in the OPI Gwen Stefani collection is just like this only in gold. This had a lovely formula, it looks almost like it's going to be sheer on the first coat, but two coats covered my nails just fine.

These shades were made available on October 2013, at Professional Salons, including Beauty Brands, Beauty First, Chatters, Dillard’s, jcp Salons, Pure Beauty, Regis, Trade Secret, ULTA and ulta.com for $9.00 ($10.95 CAN) suggested retail for each bottle. I believe you might be able to still pick up this collection in some stores or you can probably find them online. Oh and did you know you can get OPI at Sally Beauty Supply and even Walmart now?!

What do you think of this trio? I personally love small collections like this, easier for me to swatch haha! Do you watch the Miss Universe pageant? I don't think I ever have, really. I did see the costume Miss USA wore at the last one though, she dressed up as a Transformer! Have a great day!

BB Couture Ladies Formal Collection

BB Couture has a new ladies collection out! Hooray! I know I am on the edge of my seat all the time wondering when their next bunch of lacquers will come out and of course it's my joy to be able to share them with you! This collection is called the Ladies Formal collection. These are all matte/satin finish polishes.

First up is Black Velvet, ooh luxe! This is more of a deep charcoal rather than a straight black. It's much softer and wearable than a true matte. It also goes on easily and levels well. I wore this under an Elixir glitter in my previous post. Three coats.

This guy is called Chocolate Souffle which sounds just heavenly right? A color I don't know I would've chosen on my own but I ended up really fancy it. It's a rich reddish brown that looks nice and vampy on the nail. This one is more on the matte side, but it's still softer than the chalky mattes of yesteryear. Three coats here.

This one might be my absolute favorite matte polish ever. It's called Daring Debutant and it's a shade of purple that is reddish but also has a flash of blue in there which I can't figure out how they did, but it's awesome. It has a bit of a shimmer speckle in there that reminds me of stone. It's probably the smoothest satin matte I've ever used too. Ga-ga-gorgeous! Three coats.

This is called Ruby Red High Heels. It's a pinky kind of ruby red, with a soft sort of speckle that's just barely noticeable. I am just really impressed with all these, they're so nice to paint with! Three coats.

Here is Tiny Cocktail Dress, a lovely chic dark brown. I actually own way more brown polishes than I thought I did, so I must like them haha. I really like this one, it's amazing how sophisticated the espresso color looks huh! Three coats.

And rounding out the collection is the fierce Uninvited. I totally love this, it's a fabulous matte red and really flatters on the nail. It dries a tad darker than the color in the bottle, like most of these. I used this one under a new glitter polish I just bout and it really enhanced it (post on that one to come soon). Three coats on this gal too.

These are all real standouts in my collection, as mattes go they are incredibly easy application-wise, which is a HUGE accomplishment in my book. Bravo BB Couture! You can get these on their website www.bbnailpolish.com for $10.95 each. What are your thoughts on these?

Nubar White Polka Dot

Is it really "spring"? Because it's been a freaking winter wonderland for the last few days. I swear we have over 2 ft. snow on my lawn. No bueno. Mostly for picture taking. It's no secret that I am hard on myself and I really hate putting up photos that are not up to my perfectionist standards (yeah like they're perfect, gag) and honestly I tend to hate every photo I take that isn't in direct sunlight. I just don't like how they look in comparison. However I've been really trying to get my lightbox and light set up to work to get some good photos so I can continue swatching with the absence of sun. Not to ramble, just thought I'd let you in on my thought process, and give you a glimpse into how crazy I am. In summation, I hope you don't hate these photos cuz I have obsessed over getting them to look good haha!

Today I wanted to show you this polish, which I've been lusting over for a LONG time. Nubar White Polka Dot is a clear polish with opal/white satiny hexagon pieces and tiny silver and blue iridescent glitter. At first glance you don't see the blue tint to the small glitters but once it's on the nail it sparks to life. I personally love the idea of satin finish glitter, meaning it's non-shiny.

I did a gradient with the glitter over one of the new Rescue Beauty Lounge polishes (which is not out quite yet) called IKB:2012, a vibrant blue jelly. I know OPI has a similar glitter topcoat coming out in their SoftShades collection, but the small glitter is different I believe.

You can get this Nubar polish in a two-pack with it's black counterpart (to be reviewed soon) for $20 on http://www.bynubar.com/, or you can get The Painted Nail's version of this polish called Moon Drops for $12.50 on http://shop.thepaintednail.com/.

Misa Wishes Collection

Misa came out with the Wishes collection this Spring, a seemingly typical pastel set of polishes. However, these have a special satin finish that mimics frosted glass. Very ethereal, they almost look matte but it's easily discernible that they're shiny. Très interesting. I blogged about a few of them previously but recently got the entire collection so I figured I'd review them as a whole.

Touch the Rainbow is the palest sky blue with white iridescent shimmer glaze. This is one of my favorites in the collection, super angelic. Two coats.
Whimsical Wish is a pale peach with pink iridescent shimmer glaze. I wasn't sure if I'd love this one but I ended up really liking how clean and fresh it makes my skin look. This is two coats.
Never Say Never has a bit more shimmer and almost a metallic grain look to the finish. It's a frosted glass granite grey color that is very striking while keeping in tone with the other demure colors. This is two coats.
Genie In this Bottle is a soft pinky lavender polish with a slight grey undertone and tiny flakes of red, but they're very subtle, almost undetectable. I love the pink shimmer in this one, super gorgeous. This is also two coats.
Fountain of Youth is a pale celadon green with silver shimmer. I love how spring worthy these colors are! They look like they could be colors of bridesmaid dresses *giggle* and I love it! Two coats here as well.
Last is Pixie Princess, a darker peach than Whimsical Wish with a more subtle pink shimmer. This is very pretty and even though I don't think it looks the best on me, it will definitely flatter some lighter and darker skin tones out there. Two coats here. I love the thickness of these polishes, just enough to get perfectly opaque in two coats.
What do you think of this collection? I think it's lovely to see such a different style of finish once in a while.
