Sephora by OPI Hell to the No

This is Sephora by OPI's Hell to the No, from their Glee collection. It is named for the character Mercedes' catch phrase, it just cracks me up! I wasn't particularly in love with the entire collection so I just got this one. It is a red toned purple creme with lots of fine gold shimmer. This is my favorite tone of purple and it really looks fab against my skin, eh?
The formula was perfect, opaque and creamy. I had perfect coverage in two coats. Did you get any of the Sephora by OPI Glee colors? Do you watch Glee? I'm currently watching The Glee Project on Oxygen during the off season, I'm rooting for Cameron and Samuel :)

$OPI What's Your Point-settia?

I borrowed this. *sigh* I can't believe I'm showing you this with a big ol' smudge in my pinky finger but I didn't notice until I gave the polish back and was going over the pictures. And I like how the other fingers turned out. So...I'm human haha I make mistakes, I figure you can handle it ;)

What's Your Point-settia is a Sephora by OPI 2010 holiday color, a deep cranberry red with red and gold sparkle. Not the most unique polish nor my favorite red with gold but I do like it well enough. I really love the $OPI formula, it's been fabulous for every single polish of theirs I've tried. This was no exception.  Two coats.
You may notice that I have begun to put a watermark on my photos again. This is in response to a recent blogger's blatant theft of my photos and posts, which I have experienced before but never at this magnitude. It is really pathetic and just sad. It's one thing to get inspiration or ideas from another person's work, but to literally copy and paste their words and photos is just disgusting. Until yesterday, he/she had copied and pasted my entire blog profile too, which needless to say, is beyond creepy. And Blogger has yet to take down the offending posts (as well as the other bloggers' she has copied from), so as I am afraid it might keep happening, I am willing to sacrifice a little bit of aesthetic pride and put my blog address in my photo. Hope you don't mind :/

$OPI Havana Nights cont'd

*hangs head in shame* I'm a bad, bad blogger. I have been so haphazard in posting my swatches from this collection. The back log of swatches I need to post is really getting ridiculous. These three polishes are from the Sephora by OPI Havana Nights collection. I've previously shown you Havana Dreams and Mambo Madness. I still need to get my swatches of Read My Palm up, though I think they're on a flash drive somewhere...Anyway :) here we go!

Teal We Meet Again is a really unbelievable color. I was really excited for it when I first saw promo images for the collection but was seriously blown away by it in person. A very blue teal, with dark sea green underpinnings. Super shimmery and it plays with your eyes, I just want to swim in the depths of this color! This is two coats.
Can I just tell you how much I love how my nails look in these photos (length and shape) and at the same time cannot figure out what is going on with my hand placement?! I guess long nails make me a dummy dumb who can't hold a polish bottle without looking "special".

Caliente Coral is another one I really love from this collection (I actually think I adore all the shades in Havana Nights, except Caribbean Cocktail which I didn't get.) It's more orange per say, than coral. Very easily applied and really POPS against my skin tone. Two coats!
Rumba Romance was the one I wasn't sure I was going to love when I bought the mini set, but turns out I really enjoy it. It's a gold brass, almost foil polish, more on the microglitter side. This color would probably have a hard time finding a good home, however, unless you have a darker skin tone. I think it looks nice on me, but if I were one shade paler, it might look pretty horrendous. This is three coats.
I have some trouble photographing my nails in anything other than sunlight with my new camera, and I think I have built up my old camera on a sort of pedestal, thinking it was the best camera ever and nothing will ever come close to it.  Well, apparently it wasn't that great, because (soooo sorry!) these photos kinda blow.  I'm thinking I might purge most of my backlog and just go on a swatch-fest and redo them all.  Cuz...damn these are crap :P

$OPI Midnight Mambo

Sephora by OPI's Havana Nights Collection is a really spectacular set of colors. I've already shown you the Havana Dreams baby blue color, here is another polish I got from the collection.

Midnight Mambo is an online exclusive color, not available in stores. I rarely order online from Sephora, but I needed this polish in my life! The bright sky blue glitter polish is awesome, the chunky pieces give it real depth and there are lots of holographic pieces which make it even more amazing. This is two coats. It takes a lot of topcoat to make this guy smooth, but it is sooo pretty I can forgive that.

just a little dangerous

hi chickie-doodles! i hope your week is great but i'm happy mine is coming to an end *phew*! it's been alright, but i'm soo ready for the weekend :) does anyone have any fun plans? i am going to take it easy and study mostly. and do some major swatching! i got a nice big swap package from my lovely friend Sarah and have many more polishes that i haven't worn that i need to get swatching for ya and just myself haha!

this polish is by sephora by opi, called just a little dangerous from the rocker chic collection. it's the only one i bought from that one, it just didn't look appealing to me really. (i can't believe i'm showing this to you w/o posting the rest of my havana nights swatches haha oh well.) it's an "opaque metallic amethyst" according to their product description and "a dark, mysterious wine shade with an attitude". alright. i see it more as a leaning-towards-the-red-side-of-purple color with an awesome multi-tonal effect, but it's definitely not a metallic color. more shimmer i'd say. definitely worth $9. this is three coats.
la la love ya!

i bought this product myself. please see disclosure statement for more information.

sopi havana dreams

this is sephora by opi's havana dreams, a stark pastel blue creme. i like this but don't love it, as it ALMOST has that squishy texture that i adore but not quite--it was a bit thick and streaky on the first few coats.  i ended up doing three.  but hey, whatevs i like blue polishes and i like sopi's so what can ya do? and this was before i got china glaze's moody blue (lemming fix!) so i was jonesing for something similar.

rainbow tips

i got inspired by looking at Sophy Robson's blog and decided to do one of her nail looks, taught by her expert video tutorial :) these cutsie rainbow tips are accomplished by using a lighter, more pastel color underneath and having a brighter, more bold color overlap the tip. Sophy made hers more round and did a curved look overall, but i made mine triangle and the same angle on every nail, just for more ease and semetry. whatddaya think?  OH YEAH, please excuse my horrible stained free edges, i know they're pretty disgusting but i couldn't resist showing off this successful look!  i was quite proud of myself haha.
pinky: essie st. lucia lilac under china glaze grape pop, ring finger: sephora by opi havana dreams under color club chelsea girl, middle: china glaze re-fresh mint under china glaze four leaf clover, index: nubar lemon sorbet under color club almost famous, thumb: l.a. girl matte orange under opi mini red my fortune cookie.

sopi - 212

212 nail polish from sephora by opi is probably one of my longest wanted nail polishes. i've been lemming it ever since i started blogging. i finally got the opportunity to get it (and at a great discount!) on a blog sale from Niki not too long ago so i JUMPED at the chance.

212 is definitely a weirdo color, which is probably why i love it so much. the base of it is kind of chameleon, sort of black, sort of charcoal, sort of olive green, sort of golden brown. and the glitter, GUUURRRRL, please, that is what i call glitttaaahhh! there has to be every single type of glitter imaginable packed into this baby. i especially love the flakies mixed with the holo pieces :D this is three coats (on my uber long nails, before i chopped them this last time haha).

swatching it up

sheesh if i didn't swatch or buy anything new for a few months i'd still have "back files" of swatches to post everyday! gotta get on it i guess!

this is absinthe makes the heart by sephora by opi. the name is badass, i love it. the color is pretty great, if you love murky greens which i do. it has sprinkles of sparse holo glitter and multi colored shimmer in there too, but this is very understated. subtle but sexy.

essie's berry hard was one i think i got at ross :)  good place that ross.  it's not my favorite essie, i had some bubble troubles, but i still like the color.  deep burgundy jelly.

ulta's material girl.  not sure what i was thinking on this one...i don't like it at all haha.  the weird magenta color is just not flattering on me.  so i made it matte and liked it better that way, but still don't love it.

essie's fishnet stockings is pretty gorj for a red :)  lovely, red creme.  nice and simple, nice and terrific.  and a dope name!  i think this is three coats.

china glaze's fifth avenue is a very "mom" color but i still adore it.  i borrowed this baby and loved it a lot so i'm sure i'll end up buying it :)  it reminds me of eyeko's tea rose polish but a bit darker?  i love china glaze cremes *sigh*
