OPI Glam Slam! U.S. Open: Review & Swatches

I'm baaaaccckkk! Thank you again to all my friends for their contributions to my guest post series. I might have one or two every once in a while, just cause they were so fun! I wanted to come back with something special, so here is the last Serena Williams Glam Slam! duo, this time for the U.S. Open which is in a few days.

Love is a Racket is a glowy sparkly almost neon candy apple red glass fleck with magenta pink sparkles. I really love this color, however it's not my favorite with my skin tone. Oh well, I'll probably wear it anyway ;) It's a little hard to capture its brilliance in a photo, this is one you'll have to see in person to get the total feel. It's really bright outdoors but kind of fluorescent dark (if that makes any sense) indoors. It's even a little more coral indoors too. This is two coats, it's extremely pigmented. It reminds me a little of OPI Red Hot Glam, a limited edition polish exclusive to Beauty Brands store, darker and without the glass fleck.

My favorite, perhaps of all the Glam Slam! polishes, is Pros & Bronze. I have to say that I was not the least bit excited about this polish when I saw promo images. I was like, ugh really? I don't know why though, because it reminds me of another favorite of mine, OPI DS Glow. Anyway, once I saw it in person at CosmoProf I realized how wrong I was. It is just fascinating! It is made up of really gorgeous glitter in a metallic bronze and a metallic rose red. Both combine to make a complex and deep looking sexy orangey gold foil. This is three coats of ga ga gorgeousness!

Hope you liked these swatches and hope you are glad to see me again ;)

OPI Glam Slam! England: Review & Swatches

Greetings my lovelies ^_^ I'd love to show you the newest Serena Williams' Glam Slam! collection polishes, this time coinciding with the England tournament. There are three lacquers in the collection, sold in duo packs, each with the same glitter top coat and a different shimmer polish.

The first shimmer is Grape...Set...Match, a metallic purple with sparkle that just won't quit. I la la love the blue and sparse pink sparkles, and it has foil-like base goin on which I dig. This is two coats.

Your Royal Shine-Ness is nice, but the name is very similar to another OPI color (Your Royal Shyness from the Princess Charming collection) and the color is very dupe-able. Just saying. Other than that, it's an attractive metallic foil silver polish. I found the formula on this one a little gloopy. I seem to have trubs with super-metallics sometimes. This is two coats.

The glitter is pretty awesome, it's called Servin' Up Sparkle and it's a combo of billions of small holographic round glitters and scattered medium hex/round glitter pieces that are ALSO holographic. Dope. I like it best over Your Royal Shine-Ness. I've seen some awesome gradient effects already with this top coat too.

Over Grape...Set...Match it turns goes a bit south in my opinion. I think it makes the polish look more blurple (blue/purple), which on my skin tone looks super yuck-tastic. I'm sure though other folks will go gaga over it ;)

What is your take on this Glam Slam! set? Like it, love it, or hate it? I think Serena's colors are pretty fab for the most part. These I'm liking but as you can see, I'm not loving them super hard. Like we're dating, but I'm still seeing other polishes.

OPI Unveils Three New Shades from Serena Williams' Glam Slam! Series

OPI joins tennis superstar Serena Williams in announcing the latest three lacquers in the Glam Slam! collection. To celebrate the world's oldest, most prestigious tennis tournament, Glam Slam! England features two duo-packs filled with sparkle.
The first lacquer set includes Your Royal Shine-ness, a metallic silver shade, paired with Servin' Up Sparkle, a shimmer-packed silver glitter. The second lacquer set also features Servin' Up Sparkle, along with Grape...Set...Match, a metallic purple.
"For stand-out nails, I love experimenting with different glitter shades," explains Serena Williams. "The new Glam Slam! England lacquers can be worn alone for a bright pop of color, or layered with Servin' Up Sparkle to create a textured effect."
Serena Williams has received the World Number One in singles ranking by the Women's Tennis Association on five separate occasions, along with being listed as sixth on the all-time greatest champions list. Additionally, she has won two Olympic gold medals in women's doubles and has earned 27 Grand Slam titles to date. Serena is the most recent player to have held all four Grand Slam singles titles simultaneously and only the fifth woman in history to do so.
New shades in the Glam Slam! collection will be introduced to coincide with each of the four major tournaments, beginning with the Australian Open in January 2011, followed by the launches in may 2011 for the French Open, June 2011 for Wimbledon and August 2011 for the US Open. As with all OPI Nail Lacquers, the Glam Slam! collection contains no DBP, Toulene, or Formaldehyde, and each includes OPI's exclusive ProWide™ Brush for the ultimate in application.

OPI Rally Pretty Pink & Red Shatter

The next duo out from Serena Williams' Glam Slam! collection with OPI for the France Open is Rally Pretty Pink along with Red Shatter, a unique combo and one sure to be a crowd pleaser. I was much anticipating these two polishes as I wasn't sure how they were going to come out but I am happy with the results.

Rally Pretty Pink is not a pink, not really haha. It's more of a mauvey purple with lots of gold shimmer, a foil that is basically a full on dupe for Zoya's Faye that came out in this summer's Sunshine collection. I loved Faye though so I love RPP :) Perfect formula, gorgeously shiny and amazing in two coats!
Red Shatter is a real surprise, as it's got a translucent finish. It basically is a jelly, though I don't know if I'd call it that because it's not really sheer as it is translucent, it's just gorgeous! It reminds me of...blood haha! Freaking fabulous. I can just imagine all the beautiful manicures I can do with this! I don't know if Rally Pretty Pink is the perfect combination color to do with the Red Shatter, but I do like the end result. It took me a few minutes, but this combo grew on me.
What do you think of Ms. Williams' creations?? Will you be rushing to your local OPI retailers to get your hands on these?

OPI Spark de Triomphe & White Shatter

Here are the next two lacquers in Serena Williams' and OPI's collaboration Glam Slam!, a duo pack that includes a glitter polish, Spark de Triomphe and a new shatter, this time in white. This release coincides with the tennis French Open.

Spark de Triomphe is a beautiful polish named after a famous and historic landmark in France, the Arc de Triomphe. It is a mix of gilt silver glitter with bright champagne gold glitter. There are two different sizes of bling in it and the result is truly magnificent. This polish is AMAZING, a definite must have! Three coats.
I was a little hesitant to put the White Shatter over such a gorgeous polish, the shine, the glamour, oh my! But of course my curiosity got the better of me and I took a chance. I layered on White Shatter over the dry polish and voila, crackle shatter and shake! I was afraid the white wouldn't perform as well as the black (like some other brand's colored crackles...ahem)  but it did just as well I think! Snazzy and fun, I really like how this turned out. It may be my favorite shatter mani to date.

OPI Glam Slam! France Edition - Sneak Peek

White and Red Shatter Debut for French Open!

Serena Williams Serves Up Four New Shades for OPI Glam Slam! Collection
OPI captures Serena Williams’ winning spirit with four additions to the Glam Slam! collection, including two new shades of the fashionable, must-have ShatterRed and White.  Launching in conjunction with the French Open, Glam Slam! France celebrates with two duo-packs for four unbeatable looks.
The first Lacquer set includes Spark de Triomphe (a monumentally marvelous silver glitter), paired with White Shatter. Once applied over completely dried Nail Lacquer, Shatter begins to crackle, leaving behind a two-texture pattern on each nail. The second Lacquer set features Rally Pretty Pink (rise to the occasion with this shimmering sunset-pink), paired with Red Shatter.
“We are very excited to continue working with tennis superstar Serena Williams to launch the next Glam Slam! shades,” said Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI Executive VP & Artistic Director. “France is a country with a rich history in fashion and setting trends. These four new color options are ideal for showcasing your own personal style, à la Serena, whether worn alone or overlaid with Shatter for instant nail art.”
“Whether I’m on or off the court, style is important,” explains Serena Williams. “In addition to watching the runways for the latest trends, I think it’s important to add my own unique elements. With the new White and Red Shatter, I can customize my nails for a high-fashion take on the classically elegant silver and sunset shades in the Glam Slam! France collection.”

OPI and Serena Williams - Glam Slam

OPI and Serena Williams have come together to produce a brand new nail shade, to be released with the Black Shatter topcoat that I showed you yesterday. The package is going to be called the "Glam Slam" because, of course, Serena is a world famous tennis athlete. She has also recently become a licensed nail technician, which she says has always been one of her dreams. I hear there will be more nail colors coming out from OPI with Serena's help in the future.

Simply Smash-ing! is a lemon lime green, inspired by the tennis ball that Serena smacks around with ease on the court. The polish has an awesome sparkly foil finish. It is a bit sheer on the first coat but three make it just right. It turns out a bit more yellow on the nail than it looks in the bottle but it's definitely a green. I think it's a great color for spring!
Under Black Shatter, it is very snazzy and modern. I like this combo a lot.
I've always loved tennis, I even used to go to tennis camps in the summer in grade school and junior high. I am super happy for Serena and applaud her for making her dreams a reality and taking the time to put the work in to become a nail tech. I can't wait to see what is coming up next for her collab with OPI! If the rest of her colors are as good as this one, than I know we'll be in for a treat :)
