Bring It Back 2012 - Rescue Beauty Lounge

It's that time again! Rescue Beauty Lounge Bring It Back! Read all about the event here: http://blog.rescuebeauty.com/happy-holiday-in-may/. The tentative date for their sale is 11/2, but that may change due to the huge storm that's hitting the east coast right now. Here are the ones coming back that I have :)

Aqua Lily is pretty much unbelievably beautiful. The most recent retiree to be welcomed back into the RBL catalog of available lacquers. She's from the inaugural fan collection that debuted at the beginning of this year. Hot turquoise with killer pink shimmer. Like the glistening lagoon water of a fantasy island lagoon.

This is Starfish Patrick. Truly an essential polish in my collection. This is from the Spongebob collection that came out in 2008. I don't know how many times it's been brought back to life but I'm just as in love with it now as I was when I first saw it. Deliciously smooth light creamsicle orange milky jelly. Le sigh.

And the other BiB polish I have in my possession is Pui Mosso. This guy is from the Firebird collection, the first collection I had the privilege of reviewing for RBL. Luxe mysterious dark navy with a tinge of purple and a generous glaze of reddish copper shimmer.

The entire line up that will be available for purchase: Recycle, Opaque Nude, Starfish Patrick, Insouciant, Pui Mosso, and Aqua Lily! I hope to bring you the swatches for the others soon. Until the sale date, again set tentatively for Nov. 2, I would urge you to sign up for Rescue Beauty Lounge email newsletters in order to be alerted as soon as possible when they are back. Any of those in particular you are looking forward to picking up? Personally I can't WAIT until I see Insouciant in person. I'm kind of obsessed with it!

Rescue Beauty Lounge Pre-Fall Collection L'Oiseau de Feu: Swatches & Review

Rescue Beauty Lounge announces L’Oiseau de Feu, Ji Baek’s Pre-Fall collection inspired by the metamorphosis of colors brought on by Hurricane Earl.

“During my St. Barts vacation last August, I felt a frantic energy that I had never before witnessed in that familiar, peaceful paradise. There were scattered chaotic rhythms of energy as Hurricane Earl approached. As the storm unfolded, my inner dramatic stage director’s heart started to beat to the rhythms of Igor Stravinsky’s L’Oiseau de Feu (The Fire Bird). The honking brass section mirrored the hysteria on the island and the wind started to howl irksomely, just like Stravinsky’s French horns and bassoons. I peeked out the door and was mesmerized by the colors of a romantic and moody sky.”

“I envisioned my first color—Pizzicato—inspired by the gentle tiny taps of rain droplets as they hit the tin roof, reminiscent of plucked strings. A misty white with the faintest hint of lavender, Pizzicato has a shimmer that acts like prisms of light in a sun shower.”

“When the wind picked up, I saw Poco a poco, “little by little.” This is a shade that changes from moment to moment. It’s the stunning, sparkling pink of a fanning cloud when the red and orange rays of the sun are trying to burst through.”

“Later, the ominous dark clouds bled into the sky with a fast-moving wind. Piú Mosso is an inky, blue-black that shoots through a flash of orange, the last glow of sunlight.”

“At last, when the light left the sky and the wind started to roar, the sky turned into a shade beyond description—a dark greenish, blackish, brown, leading to a powerful Fortissimo, the finale chord of The Fire Bird.”

“Although the L’Oiseau de Feu collection was created before I had the chance to observe anything on the runway, I couldn’t help but notice that my colors go perfectly with the fall 2011 clothes. Yes, the styles are definitely varied—there are graphics, circles, statement coats, the ubiquitous red lips, a sea of winter whites—but what caught my eye immediately was the reformed punk with a touch of luxe grunge, especially in the fur-lined parkas and romantic, gothic silhouettes from Alexander McQueen, Junya Watanabe, Rick Owens, Haider Ackermann and Altuzarra.”

“We’re not out of the woods just yet. Euros and gas prices are escalating wildly. It’s an unequivocal time to go shop in your closet and give your clothes a face-lift with some alterations: shorten some old hems, sleeves and rehab your boots. Juxtapose the trend of hard and soft lines; these four new colors will make any wardrobe, old or new, instantly runway-worthy.” - Ji Baek
