Look Who's Back! Rescue Beauty Lounge Fall 2012

Hi folks! I am happy to announce the triumphant return of Rescue Beauty Lounge base collection colors Coral, Moulin Rouge, and Grunge! I have wanted these colors since I first became a polish fan and put off getting them until, sadly they were out of stock. The outage unfortunately lasted for a long time. But now they are back! Be sure and learn from my past mistake and grab yours now while you can!

First is Coral, one of my biggest lemmings ever. It is a perfect bright mango pinky coral. Quintessentially happy and fun. As Ji says, this isn't your grandma's coral! Uber fantastic formula, jelly crème buttery goodness. Two coats. Please forgive my slight tip wear, I had to put this on immediately after I got it and wasn't able to get a photo until a few days after. I have a feeling this will be my new go-to pedicure color!

Grunge is a really amazing color. In the realm of a band-aid but better color for my skin tone, but slightly greyer with a subtle pink shimmer glaze. Excellent as a palate cleanser color and lady-like enough to wear in a formal office setting, with just a hint of, well, grunge! Two coats.

This is Moulin Rouge, a red wine crème sultry lady. Oxblood is a super hot trend right now and this is the definition of it. Buttery and shiny with a fab color payoff. It can look more brown in different lights and lights up vampy red in others. Two coats.

You can pick these up on RescueBeauty.com now for $20 each. It'll be the best decision you make all day ;)

BB Couture Girls On Tape Collection

Hi folks! Hope your week is off to a great start :) I have some new BB Couture polishes to show you today, yay! The Girls on Tape collection for Spring 2012 is made up of six glittery shades all named after movies. I'm a total film buff so I love the idea of course!

First is Happy Hooker, a light bright purpley toned pink with lots of silver glitter and sparse red and dark blue glitter. I thought this one would be super sheer, but it build up really well in two coats! The Happy Hooker is a comedy movie about a "true call girl", haha I've never seen it but it sounds interesting.

Next up is Carrie, one of my favorite films. This is a navy blue foil with silver glittery shimmer. It was opaque in one coat but I did two here. I am huge into Stephen King novels and Carrie is so classic, the film adaptation is really great. Horror films ftw!

Here is African Queen, a green yay! At first glance it reminded me of another BB, Frontier Woman, but that one is definitely darker. This is a happy spring green with nice silver shimmer, two coats. I've never seen The African Queen, a 50's film staring Humphrey Bogart and Katharine Hepburn. I'll have to add it to my Netflix queue :)

Gidget is a medium brownish-red pink with silver and red glitter and sparse dark blue glitter pieces. I love this color and I love the surfing movie it's named for! It's more subtle than the other shades in this series but still nicely glittery. This is two coats.

Now on to Black Widow, a really special polish and another movie I haven't seen haha. It's a super dark plum purple with red and silver glitter. I can't think of another polish like this! Very cool and vampy. This is three thin coats.

And last is Pretty Woman, a guilty pleasure movie starring Julia Roberts. This is a medium berry pink with the same silver, red, and dark blue glitter as the other polishes. It dries semi-matte but I used a topcoat to make it shiny. This is two coats.

You can purchase these from the BB Couture website at www.bbnailpolish.com for $8.95 each or at www.overallbeauty.com for $9.95.

Guest Post by The Polished Perfectionist: The Devil Wears Chunky Sarah

Please enjoy this guest post by my friend Amy Grace from The Polished Perfectionist!
Being asked to write a guest post is always an honour. I had so much fun preparing this, but I have to admit I was a bit nervous too. After all, this post appears on one of my favourite nail blogs. ♥ Dear Kellie, you have no idea how great it felt when you asked me to make a guest post for your fabulous blog. Thank you so much, I hope you and your readers will enjoy it!

Needless to say I wanted to come up with something no less than awesome on my nails. First I applied three coats of Catrice - The Devil Wears Red, one of my favourite vampy nail polishes (my bottle is almost empty, eek!). Then I grabbed a kitchen sponge, dipped a corner of it into a drop of Sarah from Zoya and sponged it on my nails. Sponging with nail polishes like Sarah will never fail, the finish is perfect for this! I didn't cover the whole nail, 'cause I love a sparkly accent just on the tip of the nail. Doesn't it look like I dipped my nails in raspberry jam? *licks fingers* For some extra pops of colour I also sponged a bit of Kleancolor - Chunky Holo Fuchsia on the tips. A nice layer of top coat over it and voilà... beautiful, super festive nails!

My jaw literally dropped when Amy sent me her guest post, can you believe the gorgeousness?! I cannot, she's amazing and unbelievable and everything in between! I can only hope to be as dope as she is one day :) She truly is a perfectionist in her polish skills, right?!

Illamasqua Unnatural

I love Illamasqua. I love everything they stand for and I've loved every polish that I've tried of theirs. This one is called Unnatural. It's a dark fierce burgundy wine red with a shiny gloss finish. Very sexy and it really just slid on my nails like butter! This is three coats.

naughty and nice vs. naughty

here is a comparison of china glaze's naughty and nice and orly's naughty . they're both vampy jelly crèmes, but the china glaze is plum based and the orly is definitely red toned . both swatches are three coats.
can you tell a difference? i can, but just a bit. i like both formulas too so it's really a toss up of what's more available to you.

china glaze branding iron

i have to say that i truly believe in china glaze :) they are amazing. the polish i have to show you today is from their "rodeo diva" collection and it is by far my most favorite collection ever. it is full of glowy, succulent, and indulgent colors and this one is no exception. branding iron is the sexiest type of burgundy, deep, vampy and still shimmery enough to catch your eye. *drools uncontrollably* i was lucky enough to find this gem and a few other older ChG's in a local beauty supply store. they had the entire collection about a year ago, and i passed it by because i was such a nail polish noob i had no idea what i was looking at half the time. i constantly punch myself (figuratively) thinking about that!

swatching it up

sheesh if i didn't swatch or buy anything new for a few months i'd still have "back files" of swatches to post everyday! gotta get on it i guess!

this is absinthe makes the heart by sephora by opi. the name is badass, i love it. the color is pretty great, if you love murky greens which i do. it has sprinkles of sparse holo glitter and multi colored shimmer in there too, but this is very understated. subtle but sexy.

essie's berry hard was one i think i got at ross :)  good place that ross.  it's not my favorite essie, i had some bubble troubles, but i still like the color.  deep burgundy jelly.

ulta's material girl.  not sure what i was thinking on this one...i don't like it at all haha.  the weird magenta color is just not flattering on me.  so i made it matte and liked it better that way, but still don't love it.

essie's fishnet stockings is pretty gorj for a red :)  lovely, red creme.  nice and simple, nice and terrific.  and a dope name!  i think this is three coats.

china glaze's fifth avenue is a very "mom" color but i still adore it.  i borrowed this baby and loved it a lot so i'm sure i'll end up buying it :)  it reminds me of eyeko's tea rose polish but a bit darker?  i love china glaze cremes *sigh*
