china glaze vintage vixen pt. 3

this is the last installment of the china glaze vintage vixen collection for fall of 2010. these colors are all unbelievably luxe and i am way impressed with the formulation on all of them. i hope these swatches have whet your appetite enough to look forward to their release in stores soon!
jitterbug is sexy sexy blueish silver-grey glitz!  i pretty much LOVE it! china glaze's description says its a "grey chrome with silver microglitter". idk it definitely has a "blueish" cast in my eyes. the microglitter is right tho, i don't think you can pack much more bling into this baby!

foxy is a color that i would probably pass by on the shelves.  it just doesn't do much for me in the bottle.  however, once i got it on, i understood it's magnitude.  and it's definitely FOXY!  a fox kind of red rust burgundy with a nice shimmery sheen. my brush on this one was wonky, the bristles were all over the place, which is the first time that has ever happened to me with a china glaze polish.  i've had plenty of cockeyed essie and zoya brushes before, but never a chg.  oh well, i guess it happens to the best of them.  it wasn't a big deal to fix though, i just cleaned the brush with remover and snipped away the extra fly away bits of hair.  voila!  fixed. and you would never be able to tell from this polish job, eh?

swing baby is HARDCORE BADASS!!!  i did not want to take this lover off my nails!  metallic taupe with frosty shimmery microglitter, uhhhh yes please!  this kind of polish wears like iron and looks magic from day 1 to day 5, it's just infallible!  plus, you know i love the goldy colors, and this guy definitely qualifies :)

goin' my way? is a nice yummy brown with a copper shimmer.  i thought this one too would be another ho-hum polish that i would probably pass up in the store, and unfortunately also had another wonky brush, but once i got the brush fixed and the first coat on my nails, my jaw hung open in surprise.  it is seriously beautiful and complex, like most of the other colors in this collection, i can't think of another polish i have like this guy.  love it!

so *sigh* that's it for now. i can't wait til the next collection china glaze comes out with hits the news. one entire drawer of my helmer is full of china glaze polishes!!  i had no idea i was such a fiend!  but they're easily accessible, price worthy, have awesome color choices, and a wonderful formula reputation.  *tips my hat* here's to you china glaze!

china glaze vintage vixen pt. 2

hey there ladies and gents :D here's kell comin at ya with the next round of vintage vixen swatches :)

l to r: midnight mission, emerald fitzgerald, ingrid, and bogie.

first up is midnight mission. i absolutely la la love this polish. it reminds me of denim jeans, but super sparkly! i could not believe the amount of shimmery quality this guy has. i couldn't stop staring at it in the sun! it kind of reminds me of blue island ice tea with the foil like quality, but it's a darker and more true blue.

emerald fitzgerald is probably the only polish in the entire collection that i am not head over heels with. i adore greens, like a lot of polish lovers out there, but this one fell a little flat for me. the green has a definite blue tinge, bordering on teal. it applied ridiculously opaque (awesome) but i just didn't love it on my skintone.

ingrid is a SHOWSTOPPER! along the same lines as lots of taupey mushroomy colors like opi's you don't know jacques and the like, this gal has something those others don't. SHIMMER! gold shimmer makes this girl subtly sexy and different. china glaze calls this color "greige", a mix between gray and beige, which i agree with but it does certainly have a "brown" quality about it too. i absolutely love this polish!

bogie is a funny name for a nail polish, even as far as nail polishes go haha. this light plum shimmer foil polish is unbelievably gorgeous and fun. it has got little multicolored particles of shimmer that make this girl just look electrified. what a stunna :D

china glaze vintage vixen pt. 1

what's up blog-o-sphere? i have for you today a very highly anticipated collection from the geniuses over at china glaze headquarters. yep, that's right, the fall vintage vixen collection! 1940's style at it's hippest, these colors are inspired by the swinging times of old but old hardly describes their hotness! i was super excited to get my hands on this collection and i happily report that they did not disappoint!

first up are (l to r): classic camel, first class ticket, hey doll, and riveter rouge.

classic camel is described as a khaki crème with gold micro glitter. i compare it to dijon mustard, a gorgeous brownish yellow with dark gold shimmer. i am CRAZY over this color! it may not be most people's cup of tea, but i fell head over heels with this guy.

first class ticket seemed pretty ho-hum to me, actually despite it's obvious gorgeousness. i feel like we've seen a lot of these purples lately. but this polish has something the others don't. turquoise shimmer! yep, and lots of it. i could do without the sightly frostyness but otherwise, this turned out to be a winner.

hey doll was one of the polishes i was most anxious to try. it's described as a rose frost with shimmer. i agree and love that a pink found it's way into this collection, as i wasn't sure one would with the vintage theme. i have a feeling this gal will be one of the first shades that is sold out from the collection once it hits stores.

riveter rouge is the PERFECT name for this lacquer. the gorgeous red polish looks as if it has tiny rivets in it! and of course it makes me think of our girl-power spokesperson from the era, Rosie the Riveter. awesome polish! absolutely sparkles in the sun :D
