locavore

glitter, glitz, glam! i'm a glitter girl alright, but not just any glitter. i like the finer things in life. a lot of the glitter polishes out there look cheap and tacky and wear for about two seconds before they chip. and ironically, wear like gritty iron siding when you try to take it off! so yeah, it has to be good glitter. and this, my friends, is a GOOD glitter.

rescue beauty lounge locavore was lent to me by my bestie bestest mickelle (who STILL hasn't started her blog, hrumph) and i wanted to treat this pretty lady right. so i didn't just wear it on a boring old tuesday during work or school or something mundane like that. i wore it on my 24th birthday celebration :D my friends took me out to dinner and we partied the night away a week before (because my actual birthday landed on father's day this year and peeps were mad busy). my girl courtney told everyone to wear gold, cuz i'm allll about the gold haha, and we went out to buca di bepo in salt lake city for dinner. they have a pope themed room to eat in, as it is an italian restaurant, but unfortunately we didn't get to eat in it because people make reservations for it like months in advance. boo! :( oh well, it was great time anyway haha. family style dining, cocktails, draft beer, and free tiramisu = amazing. i even got cutie bright gold ballet flats as a present! (and a bottle of arbor mist, haha!)

anydrunk, back to the matter at hand, literally HAHA. locavore blingtastic, being as it has gold, green, purple, blue and silver glitter particles in it! the gold and green take center stage, complimenting each other nicely. i topped three coats of this gritty gal with two coats of seche vite. who knew who's hair my hands would be running through that night?! don't want rough nails, now do we ;)
hope your saturday is shaping up well my loves ♥

opi summer flutter

i was given the opportunity to review/swatch the opi summer flutter collection in conjunction with All You Desire. there are four polishes in the collection, an orange, a pink, and two glass flecked shimmers, a blue and a red/pink/orangey color.
catch me in your net is quite breathtaking and a different than most of the polishes that opi usually does. i hope this is a new direction they're going in, because this i love this polish. and yes, if you've heard the rumors, it's pretty much a dupe for zoya's charla. i think catch is a bit less opaque and less chunky in texture than charla, but you can't beat opi's pro-wide brush. this is three coats covered with seche vite.

flit a bit is a very nice orange, nice smooth creme. this one applied probably the best out of them all. i have a lot of pretty oranges but this one is just very nice and neutral orange. it went perfectly with my skintone. two coats and done :D

i la la love pinks :D and this one has sssshhhhiiimmmmaaahhh :D silver shimmer particles mixed up with a bright girly pink make up flower-to-flower. this one was thicker than the other creme, but still ok to work with. this took three coats.

now....wing it. i think they "winged it" when they came up with this color. eww. i know a lot of people love this color, but i absolutely detest it. it's a hot mess. same foil/glass flecked finish as catch me in your net but this one was painfully sheer. and the colors they used for the duochrome just don't compliment each other in my opinion. i think it looks like a franken polish gone terribly wrong. or a yucky layering experiment. this is four freaking coats.

i am feeling under the weather today :( but i got some nail mail so it cheered me up! i won chanel particulière in a contest, and i bought a few choice colors at a local beauty shop for a discount. looking forward to a restful evening and a quiet weekend. what are your plans?

BB couture cantina nights pt. 2

tequila sunrise is the perfect coral with nice gold shimmer. aww reminds me of an ulta polish i have somewheres...but this formula is amazing. how have i been living without knowing this brand?! two coats.

hangover blues was one of my favorites from the collection. a gorgeous pale blue reminiscent of the lovely light blues we've seen in the past like china glaze's for audrey or diamond cosmetics' oh tiff! but i think this is more opaque and more turquoise and more yellow? like toothpaste almost haha. idk, i definitely don't have an artist's eye haha. the best thing about this polish is the slight shimmer. i tried to capture it in lamp light with a color drop photo below. this is three coats.

grasshopper was the first polish asked to be borrowed by a friend haha. a gorgeous bright and cheerful summery green with hefty amounts of glitter throughout, this baby makes me want to run and jump and play and not work all day! four coats for this guy.

there are four more polishes in this collection: kamikaze, dirty mother, adios mo fo, and cosmopolitan. LOVE the names and i totally want the polishes of course! have you gotten the chance to order these yet? i think my favorite out of the bunch is probably pina colada with hangover blues as a close second.
